these were purchased for the extra room in the forefoot. I have wide feet, high arches, and developed Norton's neuroma in my toes. These are perfect for my feet. Extremely comfortable. Now my daily go to. Love them and bought a 2nd pair.

While hiking the Appalachian Trail I found the Mtn Racer 3 and I thank the trail gods I did. Nothing else but my camp shoes will be worn on my feet

I've owned every shoe in the MTR Racer line. I've loved them all, but this is by far the best. Comments about roominess are real, but I was able to address it by simply snugging the laces down. And, while I think Topo has nice insoles, inserting a pair of Superfeet makes these shoes perfect. Using a mid-thickness insole took away all of the roominess. The shoes are crazy stable and comfortable. Recommend for anyone for trail running or light hikers. With the 30-day guarantee, you can't go wrong.

I really don't think I have a single complaint. I'm between an 11 and 11.5 in Topos and Altras. My first MTN racers were the first version and the 11 was a tad short. The 11s in the 3rd itineration give adequate room for lots of miles and steep descents. I put about 2 miles on these shoes before running the Wy'East 50 miler in them. While not smart to race in a new shoe, I wasn't real happy with what I had been training in. From the instant I slipped my foot into these they felt very comfortable, secure, and agile. I didn't develop a single blister during the 50 mile race and not once did my feet feel achy. I have a very narrow, flat foot and was still able to achieve a secure lock down. I really prefer running in zero drop shoes, but the Topo Pursuits would always cause my "arch" to ache. This was not the case at all with these and honestly with the 5 mm drop I could hardly tell a difference. After 52 miles in these shoes, they still look brand new. Go ahead and buy them.

I've always worn Altra Olympus and have the latest generation 5 and thought we would try the Topo Mountain Racer 3 for a change. Very impressive for overall comfort and performance. Fitment is true to size and plenty of toe box room for the toes to splay. Sorry Altra, we're not coming back as these trail runners are next level. Highly recommend anyone looking to change, give Topo a crack and you wont be disappointed. The wife and I are very happy with the new trail runners.

When ai saw these new MTN 3 Topos I thought, hmm, maybe I need a new pair since my last Topos were so good for road running. I got them and proceeded to wear them on my Alaska vacation. Did they look and feel good? Yoo Betcha. That's what they say up there. I had only these on for all my activities. We walked, hiked, and went sailing. I wore them in the sun and the rain. We walked 10 and 12 miles a day without a problem. After wearing the Specters I wanted the same fit and feel. These got that.

I'm a trailrunner and I like rocky terrain. These shoes have a great feel! They grip the ground like crazy. They have a roomy toe box. They hug you through the midfoot and heel. The drainage and ventilation on the upper are good. I also run in the Pursuit and this shoe is more lively. It's definitely a shredders shoe.

MTN Racer 3 is an unbelievable shoe. I have several models, including MTN RCR 1. 3 is a Dream and an impressive update. Instant comfort, super support and the best toe box in the business, out of the box, as always. The new meshes excel! The external is a tight dense breathable but tough weave. The internal at the heel box and ankle collar is silky and zero friction. The heel, collar, lace loops and toe tip are beefed up well without much added weight. The new slightly undercut heel from the midsole line down is preferred to some of the heel bumps out I see out there. I've been running and wearing these full time for two weeks. I couldn't be happier with them and seemingly, they are my current go-to. Get out there!

Topo is probably the only shoe I would wear out of the box to a race (never try anything new in a race, right?). But that's exactly what I did with the MTN Racer 3 because I can count on Topo updates to already great shoes. Light but sturdy, great grip and responsiveness and a perfect fit. Performed spectacularly in a wet, technical 8 miler. Love the orange too, especially during hunting season!

I cannot say enough great things about this shoe. I have worn the MTN Race 1 and 2. Topo has improved this shoe with every update. All of the versions provided excellent traction, I loved the second version, but it needed slightly more protection for me. This version provides that protection without feeling clunky. This shoe feels flexible given the stack and cushioning. You can feel the ground and rocks, but nothing feels painful. This is a great shoe.

I run exclusively technical mountain terrain and race a 50k each year on said terrain. Previously owned the racer 1 and 2. 2 was a massive improvement on 1 in terms of performance with the addition of zip foam, although the upper was less durable, I believe it helped me set a pr on my race. 3s seem to be very similar to the 2s although I'm a little worried they won't be as fast for racing as the 2s with the added stack and bulk in the midsole. Maybe I should try the terraventure next.

A near perfect, lightweight day hiking / thru hiking shoe brought down by a lack of a WIDE (2E) option. Having owned multiple pairs of Topos (road & trail), the Mtn. Racer 3 has all the right attributes and "feel" I want in a hiking shoe (besides my Ultraventure & Traverse), but the std. D width--even for Topo--is too narrow. P.S. - People with Wide (2E) feet appreciate having more colorful trail shoe options than the dark, plain, and boring colorways we typically have to choose from.

Trail runs, 5-30miles and mountain approach. Sizing felt solid. Overall the shoe performed well and was always comfortable. Con: I really wish it had a rockplatethe bottom of my feet would get sore on longer runs when the trail had lots of rock. I like your innovation but cant use this model as is. Used them on everything from Colorado mountains to eastern Appalachian mountains. The ultra-venture has too much cushion for my liking, would love to see the mountain racer a touch more supportive and rock plate for the technical terrain over long distances. Thank you

I wear my Topos mostly for work. I stand on my feet approx 8 hours per day and do quite a bit of walking around during my shifts. Since I have flat feet and a wide toe box I have a very difficult time finding shoes that fit properly and support my feet. These Topos arrived approx one month ago. At first I was a bit worried because my foot kind of slid around in the shoe but after wearing a few work shifts that didn't seem to be a problem. My feet have been feeling good and tons of compliments from co-workers!

The Topo Mountain Racer 3 is an excellent shoe in many ways. It also has a big concern for me. But first, the comfort, weight, quickness, and platform are great. My feet finally feel great. They are a wonderful find for my feet. They also help my knees and general comfort when hiking and running. I love them for that great fit and feel. They have helped with my knees and back. My concern is the heel support when on uneven terrain or rocks. I hike in Pennsylvania and Colorado and have found the shoes to do very well for most of the day, but when I am on uneven rocks my heel loses support. It is no small issue. They really need to fix the heel support. Right now, I wear them when hiking, but cannot forget to be careful when on the large rocks in PA or scrambling in Colorado. If I am not careful, the shoe can roll over.

First, I tried to Topo shows after being frustrated with another popular, open toe box, zero drop shoe; I felt the prior shoe soles wore to quickly and we're loose in the mid foot and heels for be. The zero drop was not the deciding factor. I wore 3 pairs since switching in February as I trained and raced a mountain 100 miler in July. About 1500 miles, primarily on 2 pairs adding in the 3rd in Earky June. The fit- mid foot and heel cup/ retention are what I was looking for. I do not have wide feet. I do enjoy the open natural toe box. Durability- other than wear spots from the way I run, I tend to hit the ankle cuff during my stride on the other shoe, theses have held up great. The sole is much more durable and I find the tread being more stack after a few hundred miles where the others weren't. The upper is really in great shape. No blow outs or early failures. Drainage- During training I ran in snow, rain, puddles, dry, & mud. No surprises. Had good experience and got what I expected from the conditions. During my race, another story. With 5 deep creek & river crossings, wet feet were almost a constant. I wish there would have been better drainage from the uppers to go along with the perforated foot bed. Changing socks helped but was only a temporary fix. Right now, that's the only complaint or suggestion I have.

My main trail runner. I use the Phantom 2 for road. I have 180 miles on them so far, single track dirt, Rocky technical trail, gravel and a little road miles. Great cushion/midsole support, outsole is legendary (I have used the phantom 1 and 2 prior to this), upper is strong. Wear so far minimal and holding up great. The only issue is volume of the midfoot, I am still trying to find a balance between string tension for slop control so I don't get blister on inside edge of ball of my foot. 4.5 stars. Max cushion may contribute so best for longer runs. Topo makes great products!

Been running a month now and they still feel really good. I did a road 5K in them and was happy that my hips, knees, and feet were not soar after the race. My only concern is the top outer part of the toe box is creasing. It looks like it may rip open. Maybe poor rubber molding around top of toe box. Will be disappointed if they rip after a short wear time.

Compaired to the MTN Racer 2 the thicker tongue and the new midsole of the MTN Racer 3 are definitely an improvement. However I feel the overall fit of the shoe is a step down compared to its predecessor, at least for my foot shape. The toe box feels too wide (the MTN Racer 2 fitted perfectly) and my foot feels less secured esp. on uneven terrain or downhills. I wander if a half size down would do the trick, but I can't afford to buy a second pair and they don't sell Topo's in the local stores to try them on. Overall I would give this shoe a 3.5 out of 5 compaired to a 4.5 for the MTN Racer 2.

I love the way my MTN Racer's feel, fit, and definitely hold up. I've had mine for almost a year and due to some feet problems, I've started wearing them for golf as well as slow pitch softball. But for size 14, you get black. In any of the models. My big feet need pops of color Topo, make it happen!

tldr: Love everything, except the narrow midfoot/arch, please make a wide option in these and the pursuit line I purchased these after being unhappy with the newer lone peaks. I wore them for one short run then immediately on a 15 mile run and 10 miles the next day during a trip in California. I was very impressed with the grip on wet rocks and roots, and the performance in mud and sand. The shoe dried very quickly as well and also performs very well in Ohio and Appalachia where I do most of my running. I have worn these up to 50 miles and find the cushioning and support to be more than adequate. After 300 miles they still have plenty of life and I am happy with the durability of the upper, midsole, and outsole. The only problem I have with the shoe is that the midfoot is ever so slightly too narrow for me feet and spills over in the inner arch area. This led to some blisters and discomfort until I changed the insoles with some old Altra ones which cover up the lip on the inner arch slightly better. I also had some initial discomfort breaking in the heel cup. On longer runs I still need to tape my inner arch to prevent discomfort from the narrow arch/odd arch placement. I was worried the 5mm drop would be too much and while it is noticeable, it has not been a deal breaker. If in future iterations there is a wide option, or the midfoot is made wider I will purchase another pair because I love nearly everything else about the shoe; great cushioning, grip, toe box, and upper fit after break in. I also purchased the pursuit at the same time which I like more for their 0mm drop and find the fit better for my wider than average foot. However, I did also change the insoles in the pursuits. My sentiment is similar for the pursuit line love everything but please make a wide option.
