I have been dreaming of a shoe like this for at least ten years. It fits similar to the Escalante, but has the cushion of a Hoka. They were great to run in right out of the box. I've put almost 100 miles on the Via and they are the best running shoe that I've ever owned. Perfect amount of room in the toe box. The only negative for me is the color choices, but I'll still wear them no matter what they look like.

I really have been enjoying running in these shoes! I am a huge max cushion shoe lover and this shoe really changes the game for me! I have enjoyed taking it on all my runs and highly recommend to everyone! Make sure to size up half a size at least as they run a little small but other than that you will love these shoes if you love Altra shoes and max cushioning!

This shoe is awesome. I love the responsiveness of the foam - some high-stack shoes feel unstable and mushy, but the Via feels secure and has great energy return. It's the perfect lone-run shoe. I love the colors, too!

I was really looking forward to trying these for my upcoming marathon, but they don't work for me. (My favorite Altras are the torins, but the recent revision is not good). I have a few big problems. The heel slips no matter how I try to lace it. They caused me pain underfoot near the heels. I've had this issue with other running shoes. I'm not sure what causes it. I personally wish it was more breathable. A minor complaint is that the colors available are not good.
There are some things I like about them. The tongue is nice and soft. It isn't a plushy, sink in type cushion, but instead a firm cushion that keeps feet fresh on long runs This makes me think that they would be durable. The toe box is great.

Just rcvd my order earlier than expected. I bought these for work since I work in a Pharmacy and am on my feet long hours. These feel amazing so far. I will put them to the test tomorrow on my shift. They aren't as bouncy as the Hoka Bondi7 that i wore this past year but feel like a good sturdy, well made shoe. The size fits perfect and love how roomy the toes are. I will update how my feet feel after working in them all day.

I'm an Altra gal. I work in a running shoe store and when a customer comes in for Altra or are curious about them my co workers send them to me. I'm getting very much needed foot surgery soon and so i can't run right and my foot is in bad shape, as soon as the store got them in, I put it on my foot and bought it two minutes later I now own three pair with one more on the way. It is literally the only shoe I can wear right now!! The ONLY thing I would change are the colors. They are beautiful yes but way way way too light colored for the winter slop weather. Yes I'll be happy to look at these soothing colors but sad when I see the dirt.
Lastly, I'm already having anxiety attacks even imaging what might get lost in an update.
I can't wait to run after I heal and this will be THE shoe for me!!

The most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I am a nurse and work in the Emergency Room and Surgery. All day on concrete floors! I have severe arthritis in all of my metatarsals. Until I tried these shoes, I would immediately take my shoes off and put on my Oofos slides when I got in the car to go home. Now, I don't even take off my shoes. I have several pair of Hoka, Brooks, Nike, Adidas, and more, but NONE of them compare to Altra Via Olympus. I have other Altra, as well and love them, but they can't even touch the Olympus! Get a pair, you won't regret it!

This is the ugliest, most expensive shoe I ever bought and I am so happy. I was not able to walk for two months without a limp until I put these on. They gave me back freedom. I assume the ugliness of the shoe will keep me humble. It is worth it.

Goodbye HOKA Bondi, hello Via Olympus. Well cushioned, wide toebox, light, breathable, and the list goes on. This is the perfect shoe for comfort and support. Recommend going half size up.

I have genetically horrible feet with multiple painful conditions that require me to wear wide width shoes with cushioning. I usually wear the Hoka Bondi. The cushioning on these is not as springy, it is more firm, but gives me the same results, which is no metatarsal or toe pain. It also is not as clunky-looking or as heavy as the Bondi. The original foot bed is wide enough, although I would love to see actually Wides. I also echo other reviewers in that I wish Altra overall had more wide width cushiony shoes, and definitely some darker colors.

Love the new Via Olympus! I have really wide feet and love extra cushion so these shoes are perfect for me. Excited to continue wearing them during my marathon training!

I just wore these to guide a blind runner in the London Marathon - I was on my feet for four hours and felt great. I'm used to running marathons in quicker/lighter shoes, but this one I was on my feet for longer than I've ever been. Thankfully, this shoe was a cushioned ride for the entire race and I can't wait for everyone to try Altra's newest addition to the lineup!

I put on these shoes and could definitely feel the extra cushion and stack height. But while running, they felt stiffer then other altra shoes that I already love, I also prefer the slim to narrow cut on the altra shoes and these are the wide cut. Which is perfect for some! We all have different feet. My mother tired them and she absolutely adores them, they are her holy grail of shoe, perfect cushion, perfect cut for her foot! So I would see what type of cushion you are running in and the shoe width that best fits your feet, they might be perfect for you or they might be your recovery run shoe. I definitely recommend them!

I have been a huge supporter of Altra shoes for seven years! As a matter of fact that's all I run in. I put in a lot of miles as an ultra runner. In those seven years I have always promoted Altra to my running community and most all of them wear Altra now. I was so excited to get the road version to my most favorite trail shoe EVER and it was a total let down. One would think there would be lots of cushion for the thickness of the sole, but there is not. I have tried running in them multiple times for several miles in the short time I've had them, and they are just not a comfortable running shoe for me. I will keep them and wear for an everyday tennis shoe. I will still continue to support Altra for my trail shoes, I just wish the construction and feel of the shoe would go back to how it was seven years ago when I began my Altra journey.

I wanted to love these shoes, but they are ridiculously narrow in the midfoot area where my feet are the widest, even more narrow than some of the other brands that cater to people with long slim feet. I was attracted to Altra shoes because their older models with the original fit did not require me to buy a "wide" size and were perfectly comfortable. These caused so much pain in my midfoot that after a half mile into the run, I had to take them off and limp home barefoot. Very disappointed. Altra, please don't follow the trends of all the other shoe manufacturers that like to cram your feet into extremely narrow shoes for "aestheics". Function and comfort are so much more inportant!

This shoe has been a game changer for my feet and allowed me to walk and do races. Better my health by allowing me to not hurt while walking and running. Love my Altra's. I have Halex Rigorous / Arthritis in my toe and these help me to not continuously bend my toes over and over each day. I've bought 12 pairs to have after I get too many miles on a pair. I'm on my 4th pair. No issues!!

I have a bunion on my foot, so the wider width for me was best. They're very cushy, but I feel better than the Hoka is that everybody is buying all the time. Hoka made my feet hurt. These shoes do not make my feet hurt I can walk in them all day long and not have any knee pain back pain or feet pain. I love these shoes and I will keep buying them forever as long as they don't change the sole.

I've tried the Escalante, Torin, Lone Peak, and the Timp and this is by far my favorite Altra. It has amazing cushion that makes distance runs feel like a breeze and transitions well between road and rougher terrain. Highly recommend and am currently on my second pair!

Great for bunions. Took a couple of days to adapt to the height of the shoe. Immediately comfortable.
Wish there were more color options. Will definitely buy again.

Wow! First off, was so worried these shoes wouldn't fit the way I wanted them to, but they were great! The toe box is always tricky because half the time there's no room for breathing. With these, I had room without it looking ridiculous. I wish it was a tiny bit more cushioned in the sole but there's a lot of overall cushion in the shoe that breaks up the ground impact well. That's definitely a benefit to the heel being so thick. Overall I'm happy with the purchase :) just hope they come out with more options that are slightly tweaked!

Wonderful fit, cushion & comfort. As other reviewers have stated, need a dark neutral color to expand the use of these shoes. Current "toddler" colors may not be appropriate work wear in many situations.

I wore these to my job as a high school teacher (so no running or other exercise). I have very high arches and at first I did not feel like these shoes were supportive. However, as I walked around in them and broke them in, the cushioning was apparent and my arches were supported. I typically wear an 8.5 in running shoes. These seem to be a bit big; they're fine for every day wear but I'd be hesitant to wear them. The soles are very tall because of the cushioning. I think these would work well if you're looking for a lot of cushioning and you have the proper fit!

I got the original foot shape and was surprised my toes were still rubbing against the side of the toe box. They are otherwise comfortable but they need to work on the colors. Too many of their small selection have white uppers. They get impossibly dirty and don't clean up well. For women's, how about a pink upper or a purple one? Looking at their hikers, their colors are boring as well. I appreciate that they don't design them with pointed toes like other brands, but there is so much more you could do with these shoes.

Initially, I loved this shoe. It fit better than anything I've tried on. The heel area fit snugly, & there was plenty of room in the toe box. My orthotic didn't fit, b/c of the unique design of the shoe. I was going to have a new orthotic made just for this shoe, but changed my mind after trying them on again today. I noticed the skin on the top side of my little toe felt like it was being scraped. If I'm noticing this now, the problem will only get worse if I wear them for any length of time. If I could change just one thing about this shoe, It would be to put a soft fabric covering on the top side of the inside of the toe box--if they change that, I'd buy 10 pairs!
