A great shoe on paper but it has on big flaw and that is a gap between the sock and the outer going all the way down where the laces are. Sand and mud gets into the crack and makes the shoes impossible to run with in sandy/ muddy terrain and making the gaiter/sock useless. The dirt is hard to get out of the shoe.

I bought the S/LAB CROSS 2 to run an ultra marathon in Iceland. I didn't really have a chance to test them to their full potential where I live, so I was not completely sure if they were the perfect shoes for the job. Anyway, the race was a technical 55 km mountain race (Laugavegur Ultra Marathon), with all possible terrains: running on snow, gravel, mud, volcanic sand, rock, running up and down very steep hills, crossing several rivers, with freezing water knee-high... The shoes were fantastic, I could trust them all the way. Really comfortable (and no blister at the end of the race), lightweight, amazing grip on all surfaces. Also, the gaiter prevented any sand or debris to enter the shoe. Crossing so many rivers was a concern for me as I was dreading having to run for so long with soaked feet. On the advice of the Icelandic organisers, I did wear sock containing wool (Salomon Outpath Wool socks) instead of my usual NSO long run crew. The best combination ever for this event. The water was evacuated so fast, my feet didn't feel cold or wet and I could focus on running. There is nothing I can fault with those shoes and I highly recommend them for any run where you need great grip.

I bought these shoes for multiple Spartan races across the UK and I thought the shoe was everything I needed. However there is a great flaw with the shoe that made it useless for me. The shoe has a built in sock to protect your feet from mud, sand and debris and this works perfectly, however the sock doesn't connect to the shoe until closer to the sole allowing mud, sand debris to get in-between the sock and the outer layer, effectively trapping it in place and putting pressure on your feet. The rest of the shoe was great, the grip, comfort and stability was perfect for me. If it wasn't for the issue of getting mud inside the shell and it hurting my feet I would have easily given these 5 stars, however the fault makes them pretty much useless for me.

I have always had a problem with rolling my ankles. Most running shoes have a massive heel which leaves you in a precarious position if you misstep. These shoes have a low heel profile, good traction, and a flexible sole which have significantly improved my stability. I have had these shoes for almost a year and a half now and I couldn't be happier. I have probably put more than 2500 miles on them so far and they are holding up great. I constantly get complimented on their unique design. Couldn't recommend enough. This shoe has outperformed every other trail running shoe I have ever owned.

These shoes are so great! I got a pair at the beginning of summer and love them! They are light and super great for technical trails and mountains where you need to have quick feet and be agile. They held up amazing and the ankle sock is so helpful- I never get rocks in my shoes which is especially great for running down shale.

Exactly what I was hoping for based on description and reviews. Grippy, really feel the ground and light. They do fit like a sock and I ordered the same size as my Ultra 3 which is perfect. Looking forward to running them in the rain and snow!

I've been using these for over a year for trail running, and turf cleats, time for a new pair.

I'm on my third pair of these shoes. They are light weight and comfortable. I use them year round. During the winter I slip a pair of micro spikes on over them and take off. During the summer when I have to cross streams, I have no concerns about getting them wet. After getting them completely soaked they are dry again within a short distance. I will admit that initially they were a challenge to get on, but I quickly adapted. These are my #1 go to for trail running or hiking. I've even used them for endurance trail running events.

I feel in love with these instantly, these are amazing with the built in gaitors. They run bigger than speedcrosses do

I'm on my third pair of this trail running shoe. They were a challenge to learn how to get on but after that it was pure bliss. These shoes are perfect for the trail, especially with several water crossings. They dry out very quickly. The light weight upper eliminates the need for rock gators. The toe box is the best size for me. I've tried several other shoes with larger toe boxes and after a few miles I tend to wash around in them due to uneven terrain which creates hot spots. This leads to lack of confidence in the performance of the shoe. Like any shoe used for trail running they get really dirty. I usually wash my shoes once a week. These shoes seem to handle not only the abuse of the trail but clean up well from repeated washings. Please keep producing this type of shoe.

As a satisfied Salomon customer, I bought my first pair of s-labs a year ago and was absolutely pleased with how well they felt running on trails. As an veteran ultrarunner, I always have alternate pairs in my drop bags, but my slabs were so comfortable that I did not need to change then. They are extremely light, handle wet and technical well and I really appreciate the built in gaters. I am doing the Camino this fall and was happy to order a new pair for another 1000 km trek...

Minimalist but seriously good off road traction. Not so great for hard, flat surfaces but really good through the forest. I have more confidence with difficult spots on familiar trails. The high ankle helps with support and pine debris.

I bought these shoes a week ago to wear at a grass volleyball tournament where a lot of rain was expected. These shoes were perfect. I never slipped on wet grass. The only time I slipped a little is if I stepped in mud patches which is expected. Normally wear barefoot style shoes so I found these zero cushioned shoes very comfortable and natural feeling. The sizing was accurate for me. I normally am a size 10 and the S/Lab cross 2 size 10 fit very well.

The Solomon Slab and Snowcross shoes are my top favorite water/hiking shoes. Unfortunately the sizes available are very limited. While the slab & snowcross aren't called water shoes, I used them for that purpose, hiking and water shoes. The cleats excellent for not slipping . The shoes are very light, and cool due the type of material used.

The snug / stretchy built-in gaitor is perfect for my "low swing weight ankles" and the shoe itself was perfect on even my first 5k trail run in sloppy weather. While not "waterproof", they did well with sloughing off the stuff. Terrain "feel" is great as well.

Bought a 10, and returned for a 9.5. Super light, grippy in wet conditions, ankle sock fits snuggly. surprisingly stable for such a narrow show. My only complaint is there's no garage for the laces.

Having found myself in the UK for a few months and wanting to run as much as possible while here I found my runners I had with me wholly inappropriate for the muddy conditions so I had a look at what Salomon had for winter conditions and having read all the reviews decided to take a chance on the SLab Cross 2. I was a little unsure if the fit would work but having bought the SLab XA Alpine 2 for a recent trip to the Himalaya I was hopeful. I ordered a half size up as it seemed from reviews the shoe sizes small and the fit is perfect. There is a nack to getting the shoes on easily but after a few times I find it pretty easy to get them on in spite of the sock fit. This is contrary to lots of other reviews. The fit is very much sock like yet with a wide foot I still have plenty of space for my toes and the foot is locked into the trainer very securely. Running in them is a dream. I am a mid to forefoot runner so had no problems with the narrow heal on the trainers but if you are a heal striker I think you may have issues. These trainers are for running fast and nimbly so keep that in mind. The mud clearing of the tread and general traction in sloppy mud and decaying tree leaves and debris is pretty awesome. There is lots of talk in the reviews of debris getting between the outer and inner sock at the front of the trainer there is an area which you can get a finger into and I can see how debris might get stuck in here but after 5 muddy wet runs this has not been an issue for me. I think if the first lacings are pulled fairly tight it seals this pocket and stops debris getting in. Having read lots of criticisms for the trainers I really wasn't sure. Having spent three evenings wearing the shoes in the house I finally gave them a test run and can honestly say I love everything about the trainers. They are a niche shoe but if you live in the UK in winter they are great. I'll be returning back to my home in a chamonix next week and can't wait to try the trainers in snow conditions. I have to say that after giving up on Salomon trainers about 6-7 years ago I bought the Ultra Glide last summer to guide in, then a second pair when I'd done 500km in the first, the SLab XA alpine 2 for some Himalaya trekking, and now the SLab Cross 2 and I have had no issues with any of these shoes so I'm a Salomon convert again. Although I do run other brands too

I usually wear 7.5women size, I ordered 6.5men size and fits well. Very good looking and goes with lots of outfits. I wear it casually so no comments on trail performance.

I love the fit and the feel of the shoe, those are aggressive trail running shoes, lightweight and slim fitting. I would say not an average man running choice but for someone who is very serious about trail running and workouts. Good grip levels. I've had them for 1 year.

Love these, feel like I am not wearing anything at all. They are form fitting so might not be for everyone. On my first run they just feel great. Definitely not getting any rocks in my shoes with the uppers. I am a big Salomon fan for years. If you like other S/Lab shoes give these a try.

I bought this with a view to run in the Jungle in it. Salomon recommended the Wildcross which is the worst Salomon shoe I have ever ran in and I love my Salomon shoes. I bought this show and it's light and fast with awesome grip. I've worn in in Scotland tackling all terrain and it cooed brilliantly. The only drawback with it was that I seem to have some heel rub after prolonged periods with the inbuilt gaiter. I can rectify this though with the sock I wear.

Only been out for 5 runs in these but perfect for what I use them for. I run mostly trail in Canada and wanted light, low drop speedy shoes for my forefoot strike running. I also wanted water resistant (not waterproof) shoes as gtx/waterproof material cause my feet to overheat or sweat to easily. These are perfect and offer just the right amount of protection running through slush, snow and shallow puddles while remaining breathable. Great grip going up and down hills. I enjoy running on the snow covered sidewalk and street after a snowstorm as well.

A little tight to put on at first but stretched out. Feels like wearing socks. Light and comfortable. No real support, i don't recommend them if you have weak ankles.

Shoe feels very snug and comfortable out of the box although the high collar makes getting your foot in a bit hard. On the first runs the upper fabric left two big opening for dirt and debree to get inbetween upper and inner fabrics at the forefoot. But over time I have somehow managed to tighten the shoe so that the openings aren't gaping wide open anymore. I think that removing the double fabric construction would not only eliminate this big problem but also make the shoe lighter and absorb less water. The shoe gets noticeably heavier when totally soaked and doesn't dry that fast - luckily it still remains comfortable and doesn't get sloshy. Collar and lace pocket are spot on - I wish all shoes had something similar. The shoe is quite wide at the ball of the foot but has pointy and narrow rigid toebox, which crushes my big toes. Why cannot you make shoes with foot shaped toeboxes!?!? They don't have to be ultra wide but inner foot side should be rather straight from heel to big toe! Don't force people to have bunions! Ground feel is good and the sole is nicely pliable over roots and rocks! Cushioning is good enough in my opinion - feels softer than s/lab sense 8. Grip is good and predictable on soft ground - trails & off-trail. Surprisingly not as grippy on hard, smooth, dry slightly gravelly trails as s/lab sense 8 or sense ride 4 but still very enjoyable. Only the really slimy rocks and roots feel slippery needing a proper studded shoe. I managed to punch a hole into the upper on the first proper orienteering session. Therefore the upper mesh could be more dense to resist sharp twicks better. Precise and enjoyable shoe for technical trails and also off-trail with good balance of comfort, ground feel and protection.

These were meant to replace my original S/lab Cross shoes after one of their shoelaces cut through one of its retaining webbing slings after about a year of a light to moderately heavy use. Big thumbs up to the Salomon warranty and customer service! The issue of the failing webbing slings (also happened with my Sense PRO 3's) seemed to be addressed by threading the laces directly through holes in the shoe upper material. Same design as the S/lab Pulsar for example. Whether this was a good solution only time will tell. There are certainly no grommets to protect the material from the abrasion. However, that isn't the only difference between the first and the second generation of these shoes. The Cross 2 fit is a little bit different. They seem to be a touch longer and their toebox feels slightly narrower or more pointy. They don't fit my feet the same as the Cross "1". Disappointing for me but fit is an individual thing. Kudos to Salomon for their return policy!
