I purchased these boots because of their waterproof and thermal warmth properties. I ordered my normal size but when they arrived I found them to be quite tight. Believing that this was as a result of them being new I wore them to work a couple of times and they did not seem to loosen. I reached out to Merrell and was told that because I had worn them nothing could be done. My only problem with this is how does one know that they will be on tight side. It seems that even though Merrell are part of the same group as Cat Footwear the parent company being Wolverine their sizes differ.

I'd give this a 10 out of 5 if I could. I have terrible ankles...my tendons are blown from high school sports. I need support. I'm also looking for warm...I get cold. Finally, I had a lot of walking to do, and I need something that won't give me blisters going up and down very rugged terrain for miles on end (miles up and miles down at a time). THESE BOOTS ARE PHENOMENAL!! They didn't need to break in. They give me support. They're warm, waterproof, and the best things I could have asked for! I won't hike in anything else. With bad feet and cold issues, I had to try a LOT of equipment. I tried 4 types of hiking boots extensively to make sure I got the right boots for Everest. I kept coming back to these boots. I'm glad I did!! These got me there and back. I didn't slip on snow, water, ice, rocks, or anything. The soles were amazing. Fit was great. And very comfortable. Loved it!!

Comfotable out of the box. Ten mile hike in 5" of snow 25f toasty toes no blisters.

Very happy with this boot! Lightweight, comfy. Have done 6k walks and feel more like shoes except for the high top. No break in period needed. Totally waterproof so far.

I've been wearing these boots for 3 months now in Montreal during the winter. I go trail walking in snowy and icy conditions and they hold up very well. They are very comfortable supportive and have good flexibility which isn't the case with many winter boots. They are warm - my feet haven't been cold once. They also have good waterproofing my feet always stay dry . They have a decent grip but I don't rely on boots to grip on ice and always wear cleats.

Light weight, warm and cozy shoe. My foot size fits the shoe size. Best winter shoe I can find.

I took mine to Canada where I left them. They are a great hiking boot. I have a house in a wetlands area of Manitoba where the waterproof liner and deep tread get me through muck and mud.

The fit was perfect and they have been completely comfortable since the first time I wore them. I walk 2 x a day and they really protect my feet. They are not slippery on ice and they are just perfect.

This is one of the most comfortable, versitile, and seemingly durable pair of shoes I've ever worn.

Have been purchasing mrele for sometime Somehow I tried this style and I am so glad because they are super comfortable I bought another pair in blue! Can't find wide sizes?

My dog took one boot out in the middle of the night, it hit -10 degrees F. I didn't think they would be okay after finding buried in the snow. I just had to warm the inside and the waterproofing held up so well that in 5 mins of bringing them inside I was able to wear them. I'm blown away

I mountain hike in Palm Springs 5x a week. Steep, rocky and sometimes moist trails. These are the most comfortable of any boat I have wornincluding other Merrils.

Exceptionally comfortable.Went to Iceland and I did every excursion in these bad boys Comfortable and definitely stood the test of the Glaciers.
