Good product. This recent shoe took a bit of breaking in but it is getting better as I continue to wear it. The first pair of Altra's needed no breaking in.

I admit it. I love these shoes. This is one of four pairs I've purchased. Definitely 1/2 size small. But actually fit my feet. Kinda like wearing socks with cushion. Been great for my back. I wear these hiking.

I love the Altra brand and I enjoy this style and was hoping to like the boot. However, it did not work for me. About my feet * high instep * greek foot shape * high arch

The fit was too narrow and not like my other all wether Altra, need a wider width and shoe size felt shotrer than my other Altra shoes.
I'd also recommend:
I love Altra shoes just disappointed in the width, will try other Altra shoes first. Maybe XERO shoe

It is a very comfortable shoe, the only problem I have is I'm comparing it to my Hoka's which are very cushy and soft on the feet. This shoe doesn't have enough cushion on the soul. I can wear it for about 5-6 hours but I have to switch my shoes at lunch. I work on a job that works us 12-14 hours a day and only my Hoka collection allows me to stay in the same shoe all day.

Overall I love these shoes .... but beware they are not true to size as in the past. Just bought my 3rd pair of Lone Peak's - the LP 5 All Weather boot. I already have and use 2 pairs of the LP 4's [Low all weather & Mid not all weather]. These new LP5 Boot are a size 10 while both my past LP 4 purchases have been size 9.5. Bottom line - the new version is not true to size. I usually take a size 9 in everything else. I purposely bought the first 2 pair in size 9.5 for the added toe room. The new LP 5 all weather version had me buying a full size larger [size 10] to be comfortable. And the toe width isn't the same either which also caused me to go to the size 10. Please be aware. Otherwise, I love them all !!!

Altra shoes have a great shape that leaves room for my toes and the ball of my foot better than any other sneaker I have found, and I have looked for one. Adequate cushioning. I bought the old version of this shoe and it was not waterproof, so I filed a warranty claim and Altra honored the claim. Altra stands behind its products and has earned my trust.

I use these mostly for walking trails. I was on snow/slush/slippery wet ice today and did fine with these as far as keeping warm and dry. Crampons w/1-inch spikes provided traction.

If my body parts were doing the rating, it would be a five star endorsement. If my wallet was making the call, it would be in the one to two range - not because of the price, but because they don't seem to take trail abuse very well. Admittedly, I am tough on hiking footwear. Generally I get two or maybe three seasons out of a pair of Keens before they are ready for retirement. My neuroma plagued feet and 66 year old back never felt better as the Lone Peaks summited Katahdin and a Colorado 14er. Problem is, the exteriors are incredibly worn with peeling toe rubber and worn sidewalls. Next season they will probably be relegated to home games (Florida hikes) as I think about buying another pair.

The shoes are comfortable if a little light weight for hiking. There is a manufacturing/design problem which causes the shoes to fold excessively at the big toe joint creating a raised crease. The crease tends to form a rip on each shoe in this spot. Manufacturer is offering a different design it appears.

I have two other pair of LP5's, thought I'd try a pair of AW. Good for rough trails here in WI, very secure feel going up or down. Soles are very grippy and get rid of mud easily. Not too hot with the water resistant liner, my feet didn't sweat. Concerning that liner, it isn't waterproof like it says inside the boot, it's water resistant. In reality this is rather strange because even when hiking in wet grass your feet get damp inside and get uncomfortable. Then when trying to dry out, they take forever. My suggestion would be to put a better water proof liner inside, something that breathes and keeps out moisture. Other than that, the boots are highly recommended.

Fits like the other mid Lone Peaks, but maybe a slightly stiffer sole which is nice. This material for the All weather/waterproof version is better than the last, however the colors aren't as great and the biggest issue being no gator trap!!! The company has its own gator system and decides to not put it on the only all weather shoe now?

My forefoot is both wide and high volume and I have bunions. I do best with a zero drop or close to neutral shoe with a flexible sole and have purchased and enjoyed Altra trail runners in the past. I have been looking for hiking boots for awhile and decided to try these despite reviews that suggested that Altra had narrowed the toe box in the latest version. I ordered the men's version and a half size up for maximum width. Sure enough, the toe box felt a bit snug with the factory insoles. I switched them out for my preferred 3/4 length insoles and I thought these boots might be "the one." Alas, no. After wearing them around the house, I started having pain in my feet after about 30 minutes. The sole of the boot in the forefoot feels like it curves prematurely as it hits the side of the boot. It put pressure on my toes and it felt like they were rotating inward. Keep in mind I have really weird feet. A medium to slightly wide, regular volume foot would probably be fine. The pluses - I thought the boots were attractive, they were lightweight, they were not hot despite the waterproof lining, easy to lace and adjust, and the heel and ankle were well supported with little to no slippage. So close! Altra, you have built a brand around your neutral, zero drop, generous toe box shoes. And like many other makers, you've now decided that narrower is better. Please reconsider! Or offer regular and wide versions in this boot. Thanks Zappos for your quick shipping and generous return policy!

A great hiking show which I've mostly used doing trail scouting this past winter and spring, so lots of off-trail scrambling on steep slopes, wet conditions, and long days though not necessarily long miles. They have kept my feet dry and the wide toe-box and zero drop really help my feet comfort, and soles have good traction wet or dry. Only complaint is that they're tough to get my feet into! I either need to spend a lot of time unlacing them, oThen relaxing, or use a shoe horn. Or both. But the effort is worth it.

I took these out for an inaugural hike and there was still a lot of snow/slush on the trail. Basically walking through snowpack, slushy snow or mud for 70% of the hike and my feet stayed perfectly dry. Shoes are very comfortable, I do think they are narrow compared to the majority of other Altra's I have had, but my feet run a little narrow so it works great for me. I gave 4 stars because I do wish they had a gaiter trap and lace hook to use the Altra gaitors on. I will be putting velcro pads on so I can use the gaiters but those are nice features to have. I did get a few pebbles as well as some snow in the top of my shoes on the hike. I don't know why Altra opted not to include them on this shoe as they do with a lot of the others.

Using as a hiking boot for long hikes. First shoe full size too small. Feels narrow as well but I don't want that much lateral movement in a hiking boot anyway.

If they were as wide as the Lone Peak 4.5, I'd buy a new model every few years. The narrow toe box has me considering alternative brands.

I've been wearing my all weather lone peaks hiking through ankle deep snow and on packed snowy trails in the northeast. The grip on these shoes is amazing and my feet completely dry. Felt great right out the box unlike previous high top version IMO. I was concerned about the part of the shoes where your toes flex as it seemed flimsy and made a popping noise when I was walking. I know this was a weak point in the previous versions but the noise has gone away. Just hoping the durability has improved since last version in this spot. Overall really good so far!

Been using Altras exclusively since 2017. Use them for trail running, road running, hiking and I even use your casual shoes in the office. Always a size 11 fits perfect (a half size up from other shoe brands). These size 11s fit larger than previous Altras. Did you change your sizing? Do I need to drop down to 10.5 for the next round? Road shoes are needed, next.

Like some other reviews, I too found them noticeably more narrow than Lone Peaks, however don't discount them because it wasn't "too" narrow and still felt like an Altra should compared to the Viviobarefoot Tracker and Hoka Stinson as they provided toe wiggle, wide toe box that actually spread your toes out. The cushioning was also really nice, however it could be that my current pair of LPs are so old and tired that any new cushion is noticeably better. I gave it 4 stars bc it felt like a nice attempt at an upgrade to the LPs but please Altra, keep a line of boots open to us with a wide-r toe box like the LP. You don't need to beat every shoe company and shoe type, just perfect your niche lineup (wide toe box > zero drop > cushion).

I love the direction they are headed in. This shoe fits like a high top sneaker, with excellent toe comfort, ankle support, and a firmer sole than the previous Lone Peaks. It's basically a high top Superior, as this version of the Lone Peak seems to have approximately the same materials and size, aside from the ankle part of the shoe. I don't think this particular version of the shoe needs to be changed, as it does currently serve a purpose. It just doesn't serve all the purposes I'd like it to. We need more variations on it. My main complaint is that I can't buy the Tushar (true hiking boot, with durable materials and stiffer sole) with this exact fit. This fit is perfect! Bring it to something that is more rugged.

Love most all my Altras. These are a good improvement from the RSM. They have less seems to come apart at. Added toe protection is nice. They so far have handle water a little better. They are chilly on a frosty day but after 3 miles that disappears. I do 80 miles a week so they will be well tested in a month( which is when my RSM came apart everywhere). But they are still narrower at the toe box than my street Altras. Would love to see a wider box or a wide option as I have not and could use it. Feels a little cramped when my weight is on one foot. But all in all they are headed in a good direction with the trail line. Keep it up and ALTRA if you need a beta tester let me know.

Roomy width and feel similar to Altra's of old. Not sure what percentage of trail runner shoe users utilize lightweight gaiters, but I have for years, even at the workplace. Perhaps the thinking is that mid height shoes don't need twig, leaf, dirt and small rock protection from getting in the shoe, but that is certainly not the case where we live. When ordering, I should not have assumed they were set up for gaiters. I can place adhesive velcro at the lower back end of the heel, the way we used Dirty Girl gaiters (Dang!) before Altra got into them. Having worn out the previous model of these shoes (RSM), it is not expected that the (quite good) water resistance will last the life of the shoe. Above the metatarsals/phalanges joint, flexing and abrasion of the shoes makes 'cracks' that eventually allow some water in, but it is still better than conventional footwear at minimizing infiltration. If like me, you've had a dozen or so Altra's and don't really find any other brands offering all of these features. You know that they are expensive and are not particularly long lasting. And woe to those who continue wearing worn out or non-protective Altra shoes in rocky terrain. I've got the serious rock bruises to show for it. Lightweight shoes are a compromise, yet worth it for many of us.

Love this boot, even more secure feeling than the lone peak shoe. I purchased this all weather version to keep my socks dry when walking through wet grass; however, they quickly began to allow moisture inside and after they get wet, your feet stay wet all day due to the liner. I'd recommend just getting the regular version.
