The size was fine enough, but perhaps a little big and a bit wider than expected. The make and style was definitely clunky, like the toe box/front of sneakers were huge in width and I had to be careful not to knock them together/trip up on them in my regular gate. I expected much more arch support and received none. Overall, extremely disappointed and still in search of a sneaker to provide true arch support.

Fit and size are spot on. These are very stable and comfortable shoes. They get 1 star because I am returning them as they are coming unglued in several places and are just shy of 2 months old. They cost $169.99 and as a 5 yr Hoka fan I've noticed the last year their workmanship and quality have gone drastically down and price has gone up.

I wanted to like these shoes based on reviews, but after two days my feet hurt to the point of not being able to sleep. They must be great for some foot types but definitely not mine.

I've been using Stinsons for years. I recently bought the ATR 6. I didn't bother trying them on at the store since it's always been the 10.5 that I've worn. On the first run the tread peeled off in the first 6 miles of an 18 mile run. Took them back to the store and got replacements. They lasted for about 30 miles before the tread peeled off again (of course 7 miles into a 20 mile run). Back to the store for a 3rd pair...
That's when I noticed the fit differences. With the new ATR 6 I had blister on my pinky toes after the long runs. I've never had that happen before. That's when I started comparing my old Stinsons with the new ones. The sole on the new ones 1/4" narrower despite being the same size. I then paid more attention to how they fit and realized they have a much narrower toe box - small enough that they now give blisters.
The Stinsons had been my goto shoes for years after my orthopedist recommended them. Now they fall apart and fit poorly.

Was unable to return item. Very disappointed. I wanted to return this style for another one that fit. Was surprised the difference in fit between my usual style I have purchased in the past.

I love the previous version. Roomy toebox. Last me even after logging in 600miles. This Stinson 6 made me change shoes every 200miles.

I have fairly normal width feet though I like wider toe boxes for my bunion flares, normal arches when standing and eversion when walking/standing. size 8-8.5. Use: long distance trail speed walking.
I tried the speedboats first and thought those didn't work because I had purchased a size 9 for down hill toe space. Lots of blisters. So this time I sized correctly and got the 8.5 Stinson's and they are even worse. The inside sole has this weird numb where it meets the interior of the shoe so instead of belong flush and the heel cupped, there's a ledge that my foot can feel and now The back of my heels are so torn up and blisters are raging I can't even use them anymore. I hate them, and will not longer attempt hokas. They are not for my Ehlers Danlos feet at all :(

The rough material of the tongue against ankle compromises an otherwise good trail shoe.

I did not feel the support that it promised. The feet will be hurting really bad at the end of my shift. I have stopped wearing them and tossed them to the side now.

I wore these shoes around the house all day for three days. Wore them to the gym and the left shoe wore a blister on the inside of my heel. I did return them.

The fabric on upper shoe on lateral side is already tearing and I've only had 2 weeks. Love the shoe apart from that.

DO NOT BUY. If you enjoyed the roomy toe-box, thick sole, rocker bottom and support through the toe box that WAS provided by the Stinson ATR 5, don’t waste your time and money on this shoe. Hoka made the Stinson ATR 6 toe box much more narrow, the sole slightly thinner and the support through the toe box nonexistent. This is now just another super-flexible, narrow running shoe. Wouldn’t be suitable for all terrain. If you loved this Stinson ATR 5 because it improved your mobility associated w decreased mobility due to foot conditions like hallux rigidus or plantar fasciitis, please don’t waste your time and money on the Stinson 6 ATR. I threw away the packaging because the 5 and 6 looked similar enough, only to realize I can’t use the shoe at all after trying it on (live and learn).

I am a longtime wearer of Stinsons. Worn every model and they were my primary walking/running shoes. I walk/run 40 miles a week in my old Stinsons. I wore them whenever I had a lot of walking to do (store, vacations, etc). But the Stinson atr 6s are bad, just bad. They have less cushion, which is disappointing, but the real problem is they are narrower. Why would there be such a drastic size change to this shoe? And if you are wondering if my foot changed since my last pair, it has not. I went hunting for old stinson atr 5s and 4s after trying the 6s and the brand new 4s I bought last week were like a dream. I understand all the high reviews, this is a great shoe, but they have changed the size so much that wide footed people are now kicked out of another Hoka shoe. I still can't believe such a drastic size change occurred and there is no wide option. Wide shoes are nice for people who run/walk long distances and have wide feet! There are so many other narrow options, why change this shoe too? This style is MEANT to be wide. I've tried the wide Bondi and the arch, support, and cut of the shoe just doesn't work. I've tried so many other brands and nothing compared to the old Stinsons. I don't know what I'm going to do moving forward. Please read the reviews from your longtime fans of Stinsons and go back to the old sizing or offer this shoe in a wide (that was equivalent to the old sizing). If you are going to offer wide, offer in all the colors. It's rude and disrespectful to discriminate color options to wide footed people. I'm crushed that this happened and I'm so disappointed my favorite shoes are gone. I even tried to email Hoka (can't), so I called Hoka to talk to someone and they said to leave a review. Well here it is. I hope someone actually reads it. Please go back to the wide style like every previous predecessor of Stinsons.

Hoka Designers: Please read
I have been a long time Hoka Stinson user (all versions except ATR 5). Stinson was my favorite Hoka shoe for the late meta-rocker & the wideness of the shoe even though there is no wide option. Well, that has changed from the ATR 4 to the ATR 6 and it has not changed for the better. Here are the changes that have negatively impacted the shoe.
1. The width has changed. It is narrower on the sides & in the toe box (or the design constricts more?)
2. The toe reinforcement strap runs all the way to the side of the shoe and traps your pinky toe from being able to move around and stopping the mesh tops from breathing. The dramatically long strip is bad & constricting.
3. Restriction across the top of the shoe. I don't know what happened here but the shoe is tight all across the top of the shoe and makes it very uncomfortable to walk. I tried loosening laces, skipping lacing holes, and it still happens.
4. The cushion is firmer, not as plush. I could get over this to be honest. It's not drastic, but not as comfortable as the ATR 2, 3, or 4.
I have been the exact same size in every variation before the ATR 6, never had a problem, never had to "break them in". The ATR 6 is significantly narrower (my body is the same weight and height). My toes were numb, the top of my feet were tingling, and the sides of my feet hurt. I tried them a few more times and every time was painful. I figured maybe the sizing had changed and I needed to go up a size. I did that and it still didn't help. I had tons of room in the front of the shoe, but the side restriction and around the top tightness made my feet tingle and go numb. So, I tried the men's version thinking maybe that would help and be a bit wider. Nope.
I tried to email Hoka because I am desperate for a change in the design. They said the designers read the comments. I hope they read this and fix the width. There are plenty of narrow option/styles and way less truly wide options/styles.

Stintson ATR 5 was a much better fit for me. Even when I switch to a men's shoe, it still feels too narrow. Please bring back the 5's.

I have returned this product and am awaiting a refund. The newest generation has lost its great cushion. Last year's model was so much more comfortable.

My feet haven't been this sore in a long time. I usually wear clogs at work, so I wanted to go to something more supportive and cushioned. Even when I put in my personal inserts, my feet were angry at me.

I really was hopeful that this shoe would work for me. Two miles into their maiden voyage my toes were killing me. Usually it is just one foot, but with these shoes it was both feet. Wayyyyyy too much squish. I do not recommend.
