These shoes are heaven sent. I've been dealing with Morton's Neuroma and with these shoes, I can work 3 12-hour shifts on my feet without pain! I love these shoes more than any shoes I've worn before. You need them in your life.

I have not written reviews in the past, but after buying one pair of the Altra Torin 4.5 Plush, I quickly purchased a second pair. I have bunions and have struggled walking further than 3 miles without pain in my Asics sneakers (which are thought were better than most) but I can now walk 5 miles, no pain during or after and I feel like I am walking on a cloud. If you have bunions, this shoe has a roomy toe box, plenty of cushioning and I highly recommend it. I might have to buy a 3rd pair and tuck them away!!

I was skeptical about this type of shoe when a friend recommended it to me, but as someone with arthritis in the big toe of one foot and a bunion on the other, the comfortable fit was a delightful surprise. Highly recommend to anyone with achy toe issues. I found that the Altra Torin 4.5 fits slightly more snug than the Hoka Bondi I recently purchased, so if you consider yourself to be between sizes, order up.

I have wide feet to begin with. A bunionette had been flaring up on my right foot and my ASICS were making it worse. I was so uncomfortable that I was having to take a prolonged break from exercise, which wasn’t good for my physical or mental health. After doing a search for running shoes for people with bunions, I decided to purchase these. They are incredibly comfortable and light. My bunionette still flairs up but not nearly as bad as before, and I’m able to resume my daily workouts, walks, and/or runs. I was worried that these shoes were going to be so wide that they would make me look like a duck. They are wider than most shoes and they do look different but most people won’t notice. I love the color. I normally wear 8.5 Zappos recommended a 9. They feel slightly large but I think the 8.5 might have been too small.

These are the best fitting athletic shoes I have ever worn! The natural fit is amazing and allows you to spread your toes naturally while you walk. I ordered my normal shoe size (9.5) and they are perfect. I was concerned about the zero drop, but that has been great, too. These shoes are also so cushiony that I want to wear them all day every day! I have wide feet and bunions and was my toes were starting to overlap from wearing the typical running/walking shoes made by other companies. I don't think I will every buy a different brand than ALTRA going forward. Zappos service also can't be beat!!

Amazing out of the box. Super light shoe with a wrap around feeling. Using for walking and light running.

I bought the Torin 4.5 Plush in a 9.5 which is what I wear in Altra shoes, although I'm normally a 8.5 wide, in regular shoes. I have very wide feet so these shoes were tight on my right foot as is usual for the Altras that I can fit into. Some of them are too tight. I start out wearing thin socks and eventually, the insole compacts and the shoe stretches so they end up fine. These are the cushiest Altras I've ever bought and I've been wearing them for years. I'm using them to replace my Altra Torin Knit 3.5s. I think they'll be fine. I ride an ElliptiGO 11R and these should work well on longer rides after a few more shorter rides to stretch them out some more. I'm still using my old Torin Knit 3.5s on rides over 5 miles.

These are perfect for me. I have arthritis in both feet and these allow enough room for my toes to spread out and plenty of cushioning to preserve knees and ankles. So, if this hot mess can still run in these shoes, they're pretty darn good.

Loved my last Torin Plushes, but the new ones have two big changes, neither good: 1. The heel is wider, meaning even with the thick lipped socks, they still slide down into my shoe, even when I modify the lacing to cinch the heel tighter. 2. Sides are higher and rub my outer heel bone. These are my 11th pair of Altras, various models, and neither issue has ever happened before.
I will not purchase any more. I have literally had to stop and sit down and take off my shoes to pull up my socks, mid run. So frustrating. I have a dozen pairs of high end socks. Happens with all of them.

Trying wide toe box shoe for longer distance walking (~5 miles) to improve toe comfort/reduce toe callus in larger foot.
Photo shows Ryka Size 9 Wide (also tried Nike Air Pegasus Zoom Size 9 Wide) compared to Altra Size 9.5 Medium.
The other shoes were only okay for shorter distances (2-3 miles).
So far so good! Already considering ordering a second pair.

pregnancy has my feet widening and I’m getting a bunionette. These felt SO GOOD when I put them on that I actually groaned. Love the ample toe box, love the support, love the cushy insole. I have worn ASICS gt-2000s and kayanos and hoka arahis religiously for several years. These might displace all of those!

Loved the extra cushioning in the shoe! However I have to return them because the tongue lacks cushioning and cuts into my leg when I run. The Torin 4 Plush is great and doesn’t have that problem, if you can find your size in them.

I run 6-10 miles on a combination of hills, pavements and dirt trails. Light, cushioned, breathable and the square toe area make these perfect daily running shoes. They are very comfortable miles after miles. I did run in the pouring rain with them and my feet did get soaked, as expected. They were slippery in the mud though, not that I run in the mud a lot. I am ordering another pair. The Torin 4.5 has create one very loyal runner to Altra brand.

These are comfortable, well made and stylish sneakers. I had a severe Lisfranc foot injury a few years ago and unfortunately can't wear these. The front toe box is wide and I think is enabling too much side to side movement for me that after wearing around the house for a bit caused pain in my Lisfranc joint. I don't think this would be an issue for anyone without this particular injury and would highly recommend these sneakers. Besides being wide in the front, they feel true to normal size.

The Torin 4.5 Plush is not as comfortable as the previous Torin 4 Plush. I were them for walking, not running. I thought it would be even better than the Torin 4, but nope. They are okay, but I notice that when I'm standing in them for any length of time, the 4.5 hurts the bottoms of my feet, and the 4 never has. And that new "forked tongue" that many are complaining about it terrible. It's not as padded as the tongue in the 4, and the front edge is sharp! I can't wear them with footie socks, just full regular ankle socks. Altra, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

This style reminded me of the "earth" shoes from the 60's and 70's. I liked the fit and comfort; but I had to return. I had a stroke and have some instability. This shoe allowed my foot to rock a little too much and my gait worsened.

I wanted to like these so much. This is the 3rd pair of Altra shoes I tried and all 3 failed me. This one was the heel cup. It is too stiff. The top of it hit my achilles while I walked in them. Oh well, back to Hoke One One.

Shoe runs a half size or so bigger. Returned it for a smaller size and it cut into the outer ankle area consistent with the experience of other reviewers. Overall, the shoe is too expensive to accept a compromise so I return it as well.

I got Torin because sometimes I want a little more cushioning than I get with Escalate. I love them. They are super comfy and work well with my narrow feet. For me they are pavement or easy trail shoes. Not enough traction for rough terrain. I have 4 different Altra shoes, and the 0 drop works for me every time.

I finally found a sneaker I can comfortably wear. I have feet neuromas and these don't exacerbate them as there is so much toe room. And people think they look cool!

These are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. Like walking on air. I love them. Not too crazy about the style. They remind me of the Earth shoes popular in the 60's and 70's, with their wide toe box. I had to wear them to fall in love with them. Now I want to get more exactly like these to have in reserve in case the manufacturer decides to change something about the shoe.

These are great shoes! Immediately comfortable. True to size. The most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. Not really crazy about the style, though. They look a little like the Earth shoes popular in the 60's and 70's, with the wider toe box. Except for that vaguely retro look, the shoes are a winner. I want to order more before someone decides to change them.

Altras are not the prettiest running shoes but they are the best shoes for my feet. With plenty of room in the toe box my feet can naturally splay out as they are intended to rather than being cramped into a more pointed toe. Foot pain no more since I switched to Altra.
