I've had 11 pairs of Altra's. I currently have 5 pairs of Altra in rotation and these are the only pair that are faulty. I get a constant burning sensation under my right forefoot. It feels like the insole is moving around and causing a friction hot spot. Like I've said it hasn't happened in any other Altra's. I just can't run in them. I've ran 150kms in them so there broken in but I've now give up on them.

I purchased these shoes for my 6'4", 450 lb husband who suffers terribly from plantar fasciitis. He couldn't even tie the shoe. He got the size 16 on but not enough lace left to tie them. He needs a stability shoe and he stated that these felt very flimsy compared to Brooks Beast.
When looking at your shoes online (none of our local stores carry them in 16) there were only 2 options in the 16 size. I realize you cater to skinny runners but I think you need to reach to heavier people who are looking to get moving more.

Altra is my favorite brand. Have had at least fifteen pairs of their shoes. From the first pair I've had, they make my feet feel like they disappear--which if you're a runner, is exactly what you want. I bought the Torin 4.5 plush because I wanted something for longer runs (10+) because my Escalante Racers (best shoe I've ever worn) were losing sole too fast. The moment I put the Torins on I said to my wife, "These aren't Altras." You ever wear clothing that doesn't fit right and you can't not notice it? Or sleep on a bad mattress? That's what these shoes feel like. I wanted to like them so badly, but my feet couldn't get comfortable. They're way too narrow and shaped to fit a foot that is totally add odds with my own. I eventually found the Duo 1.5s on Amazon and absolutely love them and bought six pairs because I suspect the stockpile will run out soon.

I LOVE altra shoes. This though was so small and so tight. Glad this wasn't my first experience with this company because it would have been my last. Get the regular torin.

After trying virtually every other running shoe, I saw this brand used by iFit trainers and gave it a try. I have 250 mi on my shoes all on a treadmill. Fit is great, feel is great, really like the toe room. What I don't like is that the upper shoe material by the toes has already failed. Perfectly good shoe other than uppers heading to the trash. This shoe quality reminds me of athletics shoe from 40 yrs ago.

Adding piles of cushion with no support doesn't work well for me. I constantly fell off the sides of the shoes.

It was time to replace my torin 4 plush. I love the fit of my new 4.5's but have one annoying issue. The right shoe makes a loud squeak when I walk. It doesn't matter if on pavement or carpet. I thought for sure it was just the new tread being too grippy. I took a chance and sanded the tread with no change in the sound. I'm sure I just ruined any chance of a return. I can't stand the squeak all day at work. They will be an expensive pair of yard work only shoes.

Wow, these are so disappointing! I cannot wear my custom orthotics in these. My heel slips right out. Volume is much too low to work so they will go back. C'mon, Altra, bring back more volume! And better colorways - these are boring.

I am a long time customer of altra. Their foot shape and zero drop brought me to them about 10 years ago. Torin was my first shoe from altra. I've also owned Lone Peaks and their HIIT shoes. What can I say???i have loved their products!
Unfortunately, I currently own 2 pairs of the latest Torin offering. I really want to be happy with these, however the quality is unacceptable. The foam bottoms began to show breakdown at approximately 100 miles. A few miles after this was noticed, the rubber has started coming off the soles. I have already glued one section back on. Unfortunately, a day after I repaired this area, another area has stored falling off.
I want to reaffirm that I am a long time customer. I have enjoyed the fit, feel and quality of Altra for many years. The fit and feel of these Torins are also great....the quality of construction is sadly unacceptable.
I hope this is only true of my pair of shoes. I also hope Altra Is willing to rectify this and continue to offer quality footwear with excellent performance (and quality) in the future.

This shoe when first tried on feels amazing. Everything about it was on point until it wasn't. After my first 10 mile in theses my lower calf in both legs felt heavy strained. Took a week off and gave it a second go. Didn't take long Into my run before I started feeling the same strain about 2 miles in. I can't run in these unfortunately a waste of money.

So sad to see a shoe I truly fell in love with (when Altra made their first shoes, when Altra was Altra), fall by the wayside to keep up with the other trendy shoe companys such as Nike, ect. My feet fell in love with Zero drop and a wide toe box which is sadly gone, and so am I. Good bye Altra. Long live the concept of the shoe in my picture.

The outsole and midsole are great, but the upper is a disaster. I loosened the laces as far as I could without running out of lace to tie, and they were still horribly tight across the instep. My feet were going numb within the first mile. I have worn Altras for years now. They are the only shoes I buy, but my last two purchases have been disappointing. I bought the Escalante 2.0s and they felt like running on plywood; very stiff with no bounce. I emailed Altra before buying the Torin 4.5s and asked if they had changed the way the made their shoes, because I had read a lot of reviews saying they were too tight. The very nice Altra rep emailed me back and said they haven't changed anything. Well, they have. And I'm sad. I just don't know if I can trust Altra shoes any more.

I have narrow feet, so when I saw all the reviews complaining about how snug the new Torin 4.5 were, I thought great, I'll give them a try. But unfortunately even for me, these Torin 4.5 Plush are way too tight in the upper, even after ordering a half size up! Buyer beware... these shoes look great, but they are uncomfortably tight!

I had the Torin 2 and Torin 3, and Torin 3 I thought was the best shoe ever. However, I experienced with the Torin 4 and 4.5, Altra cut-the corners and has apparently decided to make the toe box narrower. The 4.5 is s too tight around the ball of foot. I do not have wide feet and these shoes are narrower than the Torin 3. Also, the allegedly new sole is not great, is clunky, sluggish is not light like the Torin 3. Hopefully, with the new ownership, please go back to specifications of your initial shoes and roots in the next version of this shoe.

I have had all the past Torin models and liked them very much. However, Altra has apparently decided to make the toe box more narrow, which was a big selling point for me. I now have to find a different shoe, as I cannot wear this one.

Torn Plush 4.0 is too tight around the ball of foot....have had countless Torin from 1.5 to 4...never had this issue....worried to try Torn Plush 4.5....
the Torn 4.0 has an incredible fit allowing the foot to have room and just snug on a shoe that isn't tight.
worried the designs are getting to narrow and fabric that does not give

We all loved Altra for their wide toe box and zero drop sole. Looks like the good times are over. Please go back to your roots for the next gen.

I've been a loyal Altra fan for ten years, the only cushioned shoes that I run in and I recommended them to everyone. No longer. The shoes have been getting narrower with every update, across the model lineup. I compared these with a pair of Brook Ghost 12, and they are NARROWER than the Brooks. What is going on Altra? Whoever is responsible for the design of your shoes recently needs to see the door, and bring back whoever made the shoes that your wide footed customers adored so much. My feet went numb before I even began my run in these, and it got so bad that I had to stop. Tried another run a few days later in thin socks, same problem. Tried running with the shoes barely tied and loose as I could make them, didn't help. Tried running with them tied snug, didn't help. You've designed a shoe that is impossible to run in, good job. The only thing these have going for them is that they look good. But we never cared about how the shoes looked, only that they performed so well. Please go back to your roots Altra, don't abandon us.

Altra, what have you done!!
I received my new Torin 4.5 and was very excited, however after trying them on I could instantly tell things were not going to be good.
I have been wearing the Torin since version 2 and have loved them and have loved how they have evolved from version to version but the 4.5 for me is a EPIC FAIL!
I do have a wider foot and the wider toe box is what brought me to Altra and that is what I have come to love.
The new Torin 4.5 is beyond a step back, the shoe just doesn't accommodate the volume of a wider foot. The toe box height is shallow and the mid foot comes up narrow in that when lacing the shoe up the sides barely come up the the sides of the tongue for a good wrap, I just don't get the secure wrap and hold of past Torin's.
I have many models of Altra's, Timp 1.5, Paradigm 3 through 4.5, Provision 3.5 and Torin 2 through 4 all these have had great fit and feel and the fit and feel have improved with updated models, however the direction the Provision 4 and Torin 4.5 have gone just doesn't work for me.
I am afraid to try the Timp 2 for fear of the same outcome of being less accommodating in the mid foot area.
Unfortunately I have had to send back the Provision 4 and Torin 4.5 back.
I will look to stock up of the Torin 4 plush where I can find it hoping that it will carry me over till the next updates.
Altra has been a great shoe for me in the past, I just hope that it will find its way back for me.

I had to return these. Have worn only Altra's for everything for the past seven years. Now all of a sudden your shoes have gotten narrower. This is wrong. Altra had a real niche in the market for zero drop shoes with a wide toe box. Now they seem to be giving all that up. I am very sorry to see this. You will lose a lot of loyal customers (like me). Torins use to be my favorite shoe. Not anymore.

Sadly, Altra has continued to move away from the features which made the initial Torins so popular--specifically, the true foot shape in the toe box and the generous width overall. The 4.5's have a narrower and shallow toebox. They felt tight and uncomfortable out of the box, which was never the case with earlier generation Torins. Please, Altra, go back to the dimensions of the 2.0!! Your loyal fans have stuck with you due to your distinctive, foot-focused design. Don't diminish it!
