These have been a foot-saver, as I have a narrow foot, long second toe (Morton's toe) and pain at the head of the second metatarsal near the ball of the foot. These shoes have a decent sized toe box and the padding in the shoe makes them incredibly comfortable to wear. The width is just perfect for my narrow foot. They are so comfortable, I have bought two other pairs by Hoka!

The Mafate 2 is super roomy above your toes and ball. This is odd because I don’t think very many women are large in this particular area. If you try to lace it tighter, the material bunches up. I think it’s better to have a wide platform in the toe box like the speedgoat 2 which they have sadly discontinued, rather than putting more material on top of the toebox

The air holes on the soul of this shoe collect small rocks and debris. Had a stick puncture my foot by going through one of these holes. For a trail shoe this is not a good thing. The shoes are great on hard surfaces (dirt and pavement). I won’t be taking these shoes on the trail due to the material they pick up and the potential puncture issue.

Run a bit large. I'm usually 10.5 in running shoes and had to take these in a 10. These are great looking and when you step into them, it's like stepping on marshmallows. Who doesn't like that? Problem for me was that, when I run with them, they are bit too squishy. For me it felt like running on the beach. My calf and foot muscles felt exhausted. On harder surfaces, or if you enjoy very cushy cushioning, these are great I'm sure. I need them to run in softer dirt and they just weren't right for me. I LOVE the comfort though. The fit (once I sized down) was perfect. Great tread with plenty of grip. Love the colors. Wish they worked for me.

The day after these shoes arrived I took them on a 30 mile trail run intending to trade them out for my Stinson ATRs after mile 5 but they were so comfortable, light, and breathable that I kept them on..... for the entire trail run! Amazing. I really love these shoes- think they are my new go-to trail runner.

Buyer beware: I was so excited to get these new kicks, they were highly recommended and since they were expensive ($170) I figured they must be awesome! Boy am I disappointed...there was no insole to speak of, so I used my Superfeet insoles. They were quite big and wide despite stating they run true to size and medium width (I regularly wear 8.5 so that is what I ordered). I tried wearing heavy socks to fill the shoe, to no avail. The treads are quite large and because the shoes are too big, I find my shoe catching and tripping me up! I feel like I am wearing very expensive clown shoes. I'm bummed I can't return them due to trying them outdoors with the big heavy socks....expensive lesson learned.

I have very sensitive diabetic feet. Pressure or tightness impairs my already impacted foot circulation, and looseness or rubbing causes blisters that are slow to heal. But in spite of this, I love to (and continue to) hike and jog on trails. These trail runners hug and support my mid-foot, while the roomy toe box does not put any pressure on my toes. I remove the insoles and replace them with my orthotics. Comfort, great traction, and no more blisters! Love them!

I bought these right before a trail marathon in the PNW, upgrading from my normal Speedgoats because there was something about the 4’s I didn’t love. It was a gamble to get new shoes this close to my race but I’m a long time Hoka customer so I trusted that they’d be pretty good out of the box. I *almost* returned these after using them for the first time on my last long run. The gusset in the shoe rubbed against my arch and created a little blister but everything else was so comfortable. Right before my marathon, I yanked on that gusset a little to stretch it out. I stopped after I heard a few little threads pop, not wanting it to curl up and create more friction but turns out - that amount of pulling was perfect. Absolutely no rubbing the entire rainy 26.2 and now these are my favorite pair of trail Hokas.

The Evo has been my go-to for trail runner for several years. I bought my first pair of Hokas in 2010 after running along the trails of Mont Blanc. They are tried and true! Since Hoka was purchased by Deckers, the quality and longevity has suffered. But -- I've tried many other brands and return to Hokas.

Normally I wear a half size bigger in running shoes, so I ordered accordingly. They were boats. I exchanged them for my regular sized shoe and they provided the space of a half size bigger. They were perfect! I went running on a highly technical trail and I hardly felt any of the rocks underneath. Very comfortable and a good snug fit, but not to where it hurts. It feels secure. The grip was great!

So this Hoka model fits my feet so much better than the speed goat of a few yrs ago, did. They grip a rocky and loose gravel surface well. My only disappointment is that on very steep side hills, my feet really shift laterally in the shoe, making it a bit treacherous. I dont notice this shift on level surfaces but really feel it on some of the mountain trails I have been on lately.

I'm pretty bummed. I've only had these for a few months and haven't even used them for anything other than day wear and some workouts and they are tearing in the front around the rubber. Very disappointing.

I have very sensitive, diabetic feet. I typically run 4- 6 miles on trails with my dog every day. The terrain is hilly, with lots of slippery mud and loose rocks. These shoes are the best I've found. They fit snugly around the mid-foot with, with plenty of toe room. They accommodate my diabetic socks and inserts. And they give great traction and grip. I fele lucky to be able to still run, but I have to be very picky with my shoes. And these work!

I LOVE these shoes. I hike and walk on gravely dirt hills and have slid, even fallen, several times. These shoes have stopped that. They're incredibly comfortable and grippy in the best way. Even if gravel rolls a bit, these shoes are built so well on the bottom that it's no more than a couple of inches, and even that is rare, and only on the steepest incline. If you want to keep your footing on rolling terrain, try these. They are also very comfortable...and pretty. I highly recommend Hoka One One.

These are by far the most comfortable sneakers ever invented. It's like walking on pillows. Besides gym & treadmill, they're perfect to wear all day and for long walks. I want a pair in every color!
