Love these! I finally have warm toes when it's below freezing out. Like my other Merrells they were comfortable right out of the box with my custom orthotics inserted. There is enough insulation I can wear thin socks and just enough room for thick socks too. They look more like a hiking boot than a winter boot and the color goes well with anything. I am very happy with this purchase and am considering buying them in black. I recommend these to anyone looking for something to keep their feet warm & dry.

I ordered a half size up and I’m glad I did. They are perfect with thick winter socks. I wanted a boot that was good traction. These boot have new sole technology that is great! They wouldn’t be good for deep snow but you could add gaiters. The quality of the material was excellent. The minute I put them on they were comfortable.

I purchased these for their non-slip qualities, and they are very stable on slick ice. They are comfortable and warm, and wipe clean easily. This is a functional boot, and the style and detail are attractive for this type of boot.

these fit fin- they were just a bit too clunky for what I wanted which was a more stylish winter boot. If I wanted just function and comfort Id have gone for these

I’ve purchased Merrill boots before. The soles help walking on icy surfaces. I purchased a size larger to accommodate thicker winter socks.

Through almost a week of snow, sleet, and subfreezing temperatures, these shoes kept me steady on ice, refrozen ice, and snow-covered ice. My back foot occasionally slid about an inch when I pushed off for another step, but the front foot landed solidly every time. The shoes felt like they'd been made for my feet the moment I put them on. They provide support and cushioning for the arch, ball of the foot, and heel and keep my feet comfortably warm, while the collar braces the ankle without chafing or bruising. My feet are slightly wide, so I ordered half a size up, based on a reviewer's comment. Also appreciate the pull tabs on the heels and laces that stay tied. Thanks, Merrell--I love these shoes!

I was looking for a mid-height boot for our freezing cold Michigan winters that provided excellent traction and warmth PLUS comfort and this shoe is perfect! It has nice arch support (a must-have for me!) and good toe box room, not to mention it looks really good! These are so comfortable I can wear them all day without any foot pain, a major accomplishment for my terrible feet! I am a size women's 10 in all the shoes I own, but I had to return these size 10's and get a 10.5 because my toes were hitting too close to the end. Whether wearing thick socks or regular, they fit great now. I love the traction of the Vibram soles-- it makes me feel much more secure on ice. The only time I've lost my balance a little was walking on very uneven terrain with a light layer of freshly fallen dry snow on top of thick, hardened ice; I just had to slow down my pace. They were great on wet ice. My toes are always cold, but these boots kept them surprisingly warm! Now I need to find shoes like these, but a shorter, sneaker style! Merrell didn't have my size in those, unfortunately... they must be popular. Merrell, please make more like the Thermo Cross 2 waterproof!!! Those are very much like these boots comfort-wise, but shorter, like a sneaker.

These were replacement for another pair of Merrells that I've worn for approximately 7 years, but so far I'm loving these boots. Boots are super warm and provide support for your foot and back. I'm a member of the Patriot Guard Riders, and these boots make standing a flag line in cold, windy and snowy weather much more tolerable. I've not encountered ice yet, but if they are like my last pair, they will do great. If Merrell continues to make boots such as these, then I'm a customer for life.

I trained hard for an outdoor race in the middle of winter in Wisconsin. These boots did not fail me. They kept my feet warm ( my feet were damp but I think from sweat) never did my feet feel uncomfortable in the 6+ " of snow I only had a chance to wear them 3 times before the race They did not need breaking in. I would buy again

This shoe has been great for walking the dogs in Wisconsin winters. My feet have stayed quite warm in below 10 degree temps with a pair of Smartwool socks. Snow can come over the tops of these shoes and get your socks wet.

Wore these boots for the first time walking the dog in a freezing rainstorm this fall. I didn't slip once while on the walk, was very impressed with the traction. Will need to break them in for them to be comfortable. I have worn these boots almost every day since getting them in the mail. My feet are always warm in these boots even if they boots are cool when I first put my foot in them.

I hate wearing boots, always have. But with all the snow and ice in my neck of the woods, I realized it was time to wear something other than sneakers if I wanted to stop falling all the time (or getting my socks soaked). I did a lot of research--I chose these because Merrell had a good reputation and, more importantly, these come with the Vibram arctic grip sole, which are rated the best for avoiding slips and falls on ice. I've had mine for about a month, and I couldn't be happier. They are comfy (for boots), they don't make my feet and ankles feel too restrained, and I don't go sliding all over the place anymore! They are so good that I just ordered a second pair so that I can swap them out and wear them every day of the snowy winter. I only have one caveat--if you have wide feet or like to wear really thick socks, you should probably go up a half size (I did). If you fit in both categories (i.e., wide feet and thick-sock wearer), you may want to go up a full size. Other than that, I hope they make you as happy as they've made me.

I usually wear a size 10m but ordered 10.5m as I want to wear heavier socks with them. The fit was perfect and I was able to use my orthotic. The tread is great - really grips. I'll be wearing them for cold weather hikes and dog walking. Very happy!

These are long enough but feel narrow and uncomfortable when standing. I really want to like them. They have great grip! I may have to return them though.

I live in Pittsburgh and the winters are nasty, plus I like to hike but wanted something for comfort as well. I have trouble with mild plantar fasciitis. These are amazing. I hiked around and wore them for the better part of a day on trail, asphalt and in rain. Great boot and will buy more! They fit perfectly and are easy on and off.

I love the Arctic Grip soles. For me they really work. I'm older but do my own snow shoveling & walk a lot. I especially notice it when I walk on my normally slippery garage floor when I come in from shoveling. Before these boots the garage floor was incredibly slippery. With these boots...excellent traction. No slipping!!! I have other footwear from Merrill with the Arctic Grip soles. I LOVE them all.

Great fit and ultra comfortable. Didn't want to take them off. As always with Merrell, they're right out of the box ready to wear. I needed a functional winter boot that would ensure I didn't slip on the ice (like I did last winter) and I believe I've got them.

I bought these boots for my daily dog walking through the winter months. They keep my feet warm and dry and I feel more secure when walking on slippery surfaces. I can't say enough good things about this boot. So glad I purchased. Also I purchased a 1/2 size up to accommodate thicker socks.

Got these boots a few days before the polar vortex hit. What a blessing it was to have them during this challenging time. The first use was right out of the box and onto a snowy, slick trail. Good traction and no blisters. Score one point My hands and feet are usually on the cold side. This day on the trail my feet were so warm. Temps were in the teens. Score another point. Then the deep freeze came. Decided to wear them to work. I work in an office, but spend a fair amount of time outside. My boss's comment was that I was the only one qualified to be outside because of the good traction and warmth these boots had to offer. Score again. Then the temps rose. Things were slushy. Thought, okay, let's see how they handle wet conditions. Again out with my Merrell's. Feet stayed dry and comfortable. Looking for a boot that will take you on the trail on cold day allowing for comfort and ease? This is the boot for you.

Hello all, i used this boots during my winter hikes/ walks with my dog. The 3 things i like the most are comfort, warmth, extra grip. If you are hiking in slightly snowy and a bit icy terrain - the boot will perform perfectly. For deep snow get higher boot. For purely ice hikes you will still need spikes, do not put yourself in risk. However, warmth and convenience of this particular model converted me from winter boots into hiking boots by Merrell. I basically wear them every day as i walk my dog and commute to work. I feel warmer than in my Tevas or North Face boots. If you need extra ankle support i'd recommend a different model. But otherwise it is a perfect winter boot for me.

I live in the northeast. The past two years have brought a lot of ice storms. Last year I suffered through, This year I ordered these Merrell boots with artic grip. What an incredible difference they have made for me. I no longer live in fear of falling on the ice. These boots have made it a nonissue for me and with three dogs to take care of I can't begin to say what this has meant to me. Thank you Merrell, you saved me!!!!
