I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend, and he loves this jacket. I was looking for something versatile to wear during the week in the city and on the weekend's when hiking. The length is really nice as it covers and keeps his lower half dry.

Great Gore Tex shell for urban environments. The snap button cuffs are superior to the usual velcro closures. The pull on the hood is also fast when needed when rain flashes. The length is perfect as well - high on the hip to prevent your pants from getting too wet while rain is blowing.

Wanted to love it but sending it back because of the lack of two way zipper. I need to zip up a bit from the bottom when I'm on a back. The slim fit restricts movement.
Otherwise the color and fit are great and I'm sure it would hold up well to rain, so close to being the one

A pretty good design, but the model I would create would have a two-way zipper, have an added inner pocket and slits on the outer pockets to allow access to pant pockets. One more feature I would add, actually subtract, is having no hood, or a detachable hood so the jacket becomes much more elegant.

Great all around Goretex jacket with a sleek minimal aesthetic. 2 key features that the jacket is missing is an internal pocket and a 2 way zipper. The jacket only has 3 exterior pockets, a internal pocket would have been nice addition. The jacket is 3/4 length so when you sit it bunches up alot, a 2 way zipper is a must and something that should 100% be in the next iteration.

My wife and I just purchased his and her Arcteryx rain parkas for an upcoming trip to Scotland.
Her jacket, the Codetta, is superior in some ways.
The Sawyer lacks a storm flap with snaps over the zipper, meaning on warm drizzly days, you're either zipped up completely (dry but hot) or unzipped (potentially wet). No middle ground. The Codetta has a storm flap and snaps. It's a cleaner look and more functional.
The Sawyer zipper is not two-way, requiring a full unzip to sit. This is the only high end jacket I've purchased in years without a two way zip.
Unlike the Codetta, the sleeve ends are not sculpted to fit the hand. The cuff snaps are nice though.
All in all, aside from the Codetta's lack of breast pocket and hood pulls, I wish there was a men's Codetta. The Sawyer is nice but missing some touches.
If you don't like or want a storm flap and a two way zip, this is your jacket.

The Sawyer Coat's modern design, high quality materials, solid construction, and great fit are very appealing. However, functionality and comfort are limited due to the one-way zipper, lack of a snap zipper cover flap, and no interior pocket.

Great rain jacket for everyday use. The extra length keeps all the pockets in your pants dry.

I bought this a month ago and it has been very nice. The only downside is when you are sitting down you might have to unzip the jacket.

After visiting a store, speaking to an online advisor I finally settled on the Saywer and very happy I did, got some great advice from the team which helped me sepect the perfect fit for my short but stocky frame that still allows me to fit some insulation under the jacket in colder months. I'm 165cm and about the same in kilo's, the Medium in this jacket fits perfectly, where the alternative beta LT I would have needed to size up. Quality construction throughout looks great, just need a good downpour to test out the waterproofness, that said GoreTex always delivers.

Not only does this jacket perform well in the wild elements, it's one of the few high end rain coats that doesn't stop at the belt line, which eliminates the need for rain pants on quick commutes on a daily basis. Easy to toss over a sport coat or fleece layer for either work or leisure in a part of the country that gets 54" of rain a year.

I had been wanting this jacket for a few months but has been out of stock. Through some calls and a hassle, the arcteryx team worked with me to get this awesome jacket. Like other arcteryx jacket it is supremely comfy and well fitting. I am 6'4 with a 36 chest and got an XL. Although it's long it really does fit well. I got the nocturnus blue and it's very sleek and professional for business and leisure.

I use this coat anytime the sky is looking miserable and doing day to day errands or casual outtings. Vancouver mainly as of now. The fit is nice and long, great for keeping your nice clothes dry in Vancouver weather and large enough to fit a warm layer for those cold days.

This jacket has all the usual excellent Arcteryx featureswaterproof and well constructedbut goes beyond with a pared down, longer style. This jacket is perfect for dog walking on rainy days. Also much appreciated is the subtle upper arm logo. Highly recommended!

I have had this during the cold days, and it is just perfect as the outer layer - especially in the light og wet snow. In the rain it just chases the rain drops off immediately.

Great for around town, walking to work in business casual, or a casual weekend in jeans. Like most shells, it rolls into the hood.
Works best for 5C and up as I can only fit a mid layer/sweater with it.

I've been using a Beta LT shell for many years but I wanted a longer length for better protection around the city (walks around the neighbourhood, in/out of car, rain protection). I tried both the Sawyer and the Keppel coats and found the Sawyer to be a better fit overall. I'm 5'7"/150lbs and the jacket and sleeve length are more comfortable on the Sawyer. The hood also comes in handy. The coat allows for layering and depending on the conditions, I've layered with a softshell, fleece or down jacket which all felt good. The construction looks and feels top notch. The button snaps for the sleeves are appreciated over velcro that on the Beta. The spacing of the snaps were good where the wide allows your hand or a watch to slip through and the narrow keeps the sleeves at the wrist.

Thoroughly satisfied with this shell as designed for urban, clean look. Very trim throughout with minimal layering space is nicely sleek for wet days over 5-10C. Slightly restrictive for active use but ideal for standing, walking commute.

I've been wearing my Rush LT and Beta AR shell for all my fall/winter activities. However, it's not every day I'm out and about enjoying the outdoor life. Sometimes I'm just hanging out in town or in the city and I don't want to look like I'm getting ready to go to the mountains. Hence why I bought the Sawyer.
When I'm commuting to work, wandering the city streets or just going shopping this is my preferred shell to wear. It's absolutely incredible. Fits perfect. Looks fantastic and has almost a futurist like vibe to it and of course it performs perfectly when the weather starts to turn for the worst.
I love the Sawyer and highly recommend it!

I really like this coat it's really versatile as you can put it on over a suit when it's raining or wear casually.
If you're just going to be skiing a few runs and then having a nice lunch and don't want to look like you've had a days heli skiing it also works well.
Fits slim. I wear an XL, I'm 6'5 196cm and 105kg.
I throw it in my bag when travelling and there is some rain forecast, layer it up when cold weather or wear in tropics too.
It's just a shell of course and goretex means it's not damp if you're walking and get some heat on.
Great coat
