I bought this to replace/combine 2 jackets: my canada goose trillium and my North Face Metropolis. The centrale parka combines the warmth of the GC and lightness (even lighter) of the NF + the added bonus of waterproofing with the gortex. Its perfect for winters in mid-atlantic regions for a native Californian transplant. I have 2 dogs so I am out in the elements frequently. The jacket is windproof and very warm. The zipper works great and hood and neck guards are awesome. I am very happy with my purchase and the quality. I went up a size for layering and more relaxed fit.

I've been looking for the perfect warm winter coat for Canadian winter that didn't look bulky and not was still sophisticated enough to wear when on business trips. This is the perfect Jacket. I was skeptical of buying it's because of the negatives reviews talking about the zipper and I honestly don't know what's people are talking about. I went to a store to try it's out first and I'm wondering if arc'teyx fixed the zipper or not because I have zero issues. Its a double zipper working like every double zipper, it's very practical and doesn't jam or get caught. The material of the goretex is very sleek and prevents rain or wind to break through.
For the size as reference I'm 165lbs 5'5 and both the medium and the large fit comfortably. I chose the Large because layering is important for really cold days (-30C in Montreal) so I put an additional polar fleece or thermoball insulate underneath. ( I'm a person who is always cold). The length of the coat arrives just above the knees for me which is perfect.
This jacket is overall the best I have ever bought and compared to my old Montebello Canada goose, I was always freezing in it, this one really keeps me warm. I was debating between this jacket and the Petera model and chose this one because the petera goretex is made of a Swede type material where dust and things clung to it easily.
I would recommend this jacket to anyone who wants a warm yet sleek, nice fitting and stylish jacket for temperatures up to (-25C) without putting to many layers.

I've been eyeing this coat since last season but it sold out before I could find it to try on. This year I went on a mission and hit every outdoor/athletic store I could find one day and tried on every parka I could get my hands on. This was one of the last ones of the day and when I slipped it on I couldn't believe how light it was, it was really noticeable, especially being the end of the day and being hot and tired from trying all the parkas on. I was worried it wouldn't stand up to the cold because of it's weight but over the last month I've had it out in all conditions and am happy to report I'm comfortable in it until about -25C. At -35C with the windchill it was fine for running errands but I would have to add layers and softshell pants for some additional warmth if I wanted to stay outside for any longer.
My favorite part about this coat is I'm warm outside but walking around inside the lightness of the coat is so great and I don't feel like I'm overheating or swimming in bulk to wear it around in a store for grocery shopping. I also love that it's so flattering, for a winter parka.
I usually find Arc'teryx size small fits perfect through my chest, shoulders and waist but I always have to size up to a medium because of my hips. Because this coat flares a bit I could size down to a small, which was nice. For reference I'm 5'5", 130lbs, chest - 34", waist - 28", hips - 38". Even sized down there is lots of room to sit comfortably without having to unzip from the bottom.
As for the zipper, I was a bit worried based on the reviews, but when I got it home I compared it to an old Arc'teryx Nalo jacket from about 3 years ago and the zipper was identical (5CN). I found that zipper annoying at the beginning as well and found I had to fiddle with it a bit and be gentle, but the small teeth kept the wind out (no zipper cover flap) and over time it seems to have softened up and I'm used to it so the zipper doesn't bother me. It's also still going strong after lots of wear so that put my mind at ease.
Things that I'd change about this parka:
- The armpits have mesh on the inside but it would be nice to have discreet pit zips for temperature variability or when walking uphill.
- My daily sunscreen rubs off on the high collar and down neck gasket and this area gets really grungy quickly. Would be amazing to have a removable section here that you could toss in the wash regularly. Right now I have to wear a high collar under layer or scarf, which is annoying.
- I wish the zipper was a bit longer, when I sit the jacket pulls on the lowest snap and makes it gap awkwardly.

This coat is the real deal. I'm on my second season with it in Boston, Mass. It's cold cold cold here in the winter, but I'm not afraid of rain or snow with the Centrale. I decided to invest in one coat to do it all, and this is it. All my friends are jealous, because I'm always the warm one now. The styling is classic and works for both job interviews and going to the grocery store. Stain resistant, really nice fabric. The wrist gaskets are the best feature! I can't recommend a winter coat without them. I have only tiny recommendations: the main zipper features a meaty Arc'teryx-branded pull tab. I wish the chest pocket had the same pull tab (instead of a small YKK zipper) for easy grabbing with gloves on. I also wish both sides, not just one, of the hand pockets were lined with microfiber fleece for a little bit more warmth and comfort. If I don't snap the zipper buttons, the zipper cover stays flipped open. If the snaps went all the way down to the bottom of the coat, that would help.

I had a Patera from 2 seasons ago and this is a much better version.
The sleeves are warm and comfortable, less narrow than Patera, also the hip has a bit more room.
It protects well from wind, cold and rain, like the hood as it can be adjusted and does not move when it is windy.
I am a medium size, and with Centrale can wear a blazer comfortably underneath when off to work.
Maybe you could increase the color palette a bit, with a red or burgundy option for next year?

I bought this jacket just before Christmas 2020. Reviews that I had read indicated that it was going to be very warm. This could not be further from the truth! We are now experiencing -30 degree Celsius weather and there is no way that I would wear the Centrale parka without fear of freezing. Even at -10 degrees Celsius this jacket is terrible. The sleeves in particular are awful when it comes to insulation. I have numerous Arc'teryx products and was very hopeful that this product would hold up to the high standards that I experienced with other items. I spend lots of time outdoors doing numerous winter sports and generally do not chill easily. Now all I have is an expensive parka that will collect dust in my closet.

I love this coat so much! I've bought expensive coats in the past but not specific brands that would be good for the winter. I own a few other Arcteryx items for cold weather and they keep me so warm. I'm a medium in this coat and it fits perfectly. I can still wear a bulky winter sweater and not have it too tight in my arms or trying to zip it up. I'm 5'9 and about 140 lbs. I wear it to work, out and about and basically on a daily basis. Highly recommend to any of my friends or family.

I bought this jacket last year before I got pregnant. I have long arms so I bought a large. I was able to go through the whole winter wearing it no problem. With the 2 way zipper it allows you extra room, also helps when you sit in a vehicle. I would 100% recommend this jacket to anyone. It is so warm and cozy.

This is my favourite winter coat ever. I bought the whiskey jack and love the colour. It keeps me so warm that I have been able to head out in Ottawa winter with just a thin blouse underneath. I don't have any difficulty with the zipper. Definitely worth the investment, I highly recommended this coat. My daughter has the Patera coat and this is coat is warmer.

A great winter coat, at once very very warm but at the same time lightweight and form fitting. Quite an investment but a very good winter jacket. I have tested it in negative 20 so far, no issues.

I had a Patera for 4 winters. It was a great coat, but the Centrale is even better - just a better fit ( I am XS ) and better pockets.

I chose the Centrale to replace my Canada Goose Kensington and I am glad that I did. It's considerably lighter than many other down jackets but this doesn't compromise the warmth at all. It's exceptionally well made, comfortable and stylish. Definitely well suited to urban Canadian weather and can be worn either casually or dressed up a bit. I'm really thrilled with it! Highly recommend!!

This is the coat of my dreams. Warm, cozy, and waterproof - I have worn it in a range temps - single digits up to low 50s and found it kept me comfortable with the proper layering. The best part it is so light weight! It will not weigh you down walking around the city but it will keep you warm and dry. LOVE THIS COAT!!!

Here's what I was looking for: very warm coat to walk the dog, water resistant, nice looking and a hood, This coat met all my criteria. If there is one complaint, it's that the zipper is somewhat difficult. Love it!

I had a Patera parka before and this one is much better. It is warmer, the fit is more comfortable, and the pockets are bigger, in particular the inside pocket. On the Patera it barely fits a wallet, on this one there is plenty of room. The sleeves are also warmer than on the Patera. The double zip is excellent for cycling, and so is the large hood that will go over a helmet.

I bought both Patera and Centrale parka to try on and compare. I tried them outside at the same temperature and the Centrale is definitely warmer! The Patera is slightly smaller in size than the Centrale (I'm a medium but size small in these parkas) and the Centrale is the perfect size for me and the shape is very flattering! I am 5'2" 124lbs but when I put the Centrale parka I just look slim and curvy in hips which I really really like 'coz I have a straight type of body and I don't look shorter even in this length which is just right for me (just below the knees). If you're going to buy this parka make sure it fits you really well not too tight not too loose and I assure you this will be warmer than Patera.
I really like the shell of this compared to Patera, Centrale is softer while Patera is slightly stiff. This parka is so light you will not feel like you're wearing a winter coat, more of like a spring jacket weight! Not restrictive at all, I like that I can raise my arms, bend or extend them without any restrictions! Even with a layer on it still feels soft and not bulky at all. We all know the feeling when we try to sit down with a winter coat on (especially a puffer) and you feel very restricted in the arms, stomach and bottom, you will NOT feel any of those in Centrale and Patera. I just feel so comfy sitting down wearing this, I even feel relaxed and pampered in this (layered with thin fleece) while I'm sitting! I'm just so amazed...
I haven't tested it yet in a frigid windy weather (Winnipegger here!) I tried in -6C (-12C with windchill) with just a thin shirt and the windproofness is unquestionable. Can't wait to test this out in -30C plus windchill. I cannot say anything about the durability compared to Patera but Centrale has softer shell which I like. :)
The zipper... I'm used to wearing clothes with zippers, it is a bit sticky at first but when you get used to it you should be fine. Be sure to align the zippers before you pull and it will not stick.
The hood... I like that it is adjustable and so light, it just feels technical because of the fabric. The fabric touching your chin, cheeks and lips is not soft. If you're wearing heavy makeup or lipstick make sure you put a neck gaiter that extends as face mask or else forget about the makeup. :D
I really really like this parka, just haven't tested it yet in the harshest weather Winnipeg can bring (-35C plus windchill). If you're having a hard time choosing between Patera and Centrale I suggest buy each one in your smaller size then compare. So glad I did! :)
