I bought both Patera and Centrale parka to try on and compare. I tried them outside at the same temperature and the Centrale is definitely warmer! The Patera is slightly smaller in size than the Centrale (I'm a medium but size small in these parkas) and the Centrale is the perfect size for me and the shape is very flattering! I am 5'2" 124lbs but when I put the Centrale parka I just look slim and curvy in hips which I really really like 'coz I have a straight type of body and I don't look shorter even in this length which is just right for me (just below the knees). If you're going to buy this parka make sure it fits you really well not too tight not too loose and I assure you this will be warmer than Patera.
I really like the shell of this compared to Patera, Centrale is softer while Patera is slightly stiff. This parka is so light you will not feel like you're wearing a winter coat, more of like a spring jacket weight! Not restrictive at all, I like that I can raise my arms, bend or extend them without any restrictions! Even with a layer on it still feels soft and not bulky at all. We all know the feeling when we try to sit down with a winter coat on (especially a puffer) and you feel very restricted in the arms, stomach and bottom, you will NOT feel any of those in Centrale and Patera. I just feel so comfy sitting down wearing this, I even feel relaxed and pampered in this (layered with thin fleece) while I'm sitting! I'm just so amazed...
I haven't tested it yet in a frigid windy weather (Winnipegger here!) I tried in -6C (-12C with windchill) with just a thin shirt and the windproofness is unquestionable. Can't wait to test this out in -30C plus windchill. I cannot say anything about the durability compared to Patera but Centrale has softer shell which I like. :)
The zipper... I'm used to wearing clothes with zippers, it is a bit sticky at first but when you get used to it you should be fine. Be sure to align the zippers before you pull and it will not stick.
The hood... I like that it is adjustable and so light, it just feels technical because of the fabric. The fabric touching your chin, cheeks and lips is not soft. If you're wearing heavy makeup or lipstick make sure you put a neck gaiter that extends as face mask or else forget about the makeup. :D
I really really like this parka, just haven't tested it yet in the harshest weather Winnipeg can bring (-35C plus windchill). If you're having a hard time choosing between Patera and Centrale I suggest buy each one in your smaller size then compare. So glad I did! :)

This is a nice jacket, overall. I tried it on in store and the SA said that if you want a winter coat that you only have to wear a t-shirt under, this is the one. That is DEFINITELY not true. I think I have an average to good cold tolerance, I grew up in northern Vermont. If it's below 25, I need layers to be comfortable in this coat. The down fill power is good but it could just use more insulation. I haven't had any issues with the zipper, but two other things that could be improved are adding some soft lining to the hood and zipper area (it's very stiff and not comfortable against the chin when it's zipped), and to make the shell slightly bigger than the interior. When the placket is snapped, it gaps a bit between snaps, even though the jacket is not tight on me.

The Centrale parka is high quality, minimalistic and very classy looking parka. I haven't yet tested it in very cold weather conditions and to be honest, I am wondering that is it as warm as I expected. But still I like it a lot - It looks good, is wind- ja waterproof and enough warm to be excellent city parka.

Purchased an XS in black a few years ago. As I am petite (5' 1", 97 lbs) my upper hips land where the waist area is intended to be which causes my hip area to feel a bit snug. I braved on as I required a warm urban waterproof coat. Not happy with outer textile. Reviews cite positively in relation to the muted sound emitted during movement. I would be happier with a noisy coat than one which attracts all kinds of debris...dust, animal hair, etc. (I do not presently have furry children but my friends do) Consequently, the coat must be frequently rolled with sticky tape. Additionally, the color black is not saturated enough. It is not light enough to pass as charcoal and so it appears as if it was washed and faded...an old coat. No, not happy with appearance, at all. A week ago purchased a Patera parka (XS) in black. Same faded black, same fabric. Returning. Just ordered the Patera in the color Ultima (burgandy/wine). Let's hope the color hides some ills. Must add that the revised Patera fit (widening the waist/hip areas) addressed the petite problem of upper hip landing in the waist area of the coat causing snugness there,...is resolved! Yay!

This is my second winter with this jacket. Overall very pleased with how warm it is but find the zipper to be so finnicky and flimsy. For the price of the coat, I'd expect an easier and more reliable zipper. Expect it to break on me any time and hope that customer service is as good as I've heard. Jacket fits quite large which is great for layering on very cold days but can get drafty with only a thin sweater underneath. Wish this was available in Xxs.

This winter parka is almost perfect. First the good--I have never owned a jacket with perfect arm articulation--I can move my arms/shoulders in any direction without the jacket moving. It is amazing--and although I expect this in ski and climbing jackets, I wouldn't necessarily expect this in a lifestyle jacket. It is crazy warm--I love the insulated hood and the adjustments to secure it.
The bad...the zipper ends a good three inches from the bottom hem. There is no snap to secure it, either, so wind easily blows it open. I purchased this because it was the longest length of the non-full length parkas I was considering (moncler, patagonia, mountain hardwear, and canada goose); but because the bottom flaps open, its really like a 34" parka. I think I am going to add a snap to the bottom, since there is plenty of room to walk since the bottom flares out quite a bit.
I also find myself to be right in between sizes in Arcteryx--I am 5'8, 135lbs, size 4-6, and I went with the small. It is tighter than I'd like when I layer, but still works (mainly because the arm articulation is so good). I wish it was a little bigger, but the medium was huge on me.

I like this coat very much as it is very lightweight and quite warm.
The style is perfect for me and works really well in NYC.
However, the main zipper splits more frequently that it should, and it wrestling the zipper back down to the bottom the puller snapped off. So now I have a broken zipper puller, which is quite annoying in general and specifically unacceptable for such an expensive jacket with less than 1 year of use. We are just hitting the coldest time of year so sending it in for repair is a non-starter.

I love the Centrale parka! But, boy, what ugly colors! Looking forward to seeing it in Mandala or dark blue. Also, the buttons do not work. They are a bit hard to close, specially if we are wearing gloves. Here's a thought: magnetic buttons! That would be easy - and great for our Canadian winters.

So I really really want to 100% love this coat as I've been eyeing it for some time now. But I'm about 80% right now. I took the plunge and bought it a few weeks back. I work in northern Ontario so I've had a chance to use this in -18C weather (feels like -28C with strong winds) and I can say that it is warm enough (with a thin merino baselayer on) and it really does well to block the winds. I like that it doesn't look too puffy and that it's long and covers my butt. It's a very flattering jacket and I've gotten tons of compliments. But on the other hand, wearing it feels like the jacket is almost too long or needs something to cinch it in to prevent drafts from going up the bottom. I'm also not a huge fan of fiddly zipper but it pulls smoothly once you latch it.
I do have some criticism about the hood... I find it hard to adjust while you're wearing it outdoors. The little tabs at the sides are hard to hang onto if you're trying to tighten the elastic to bring the hood lower on your head. I don't know if I'm just struggling, but I find I end up loosening it instead of tightening it. The elastic loops that you create are slightly abrasive on your face before you find out you can pull them through the jacket below the neck cuff. I'm thinking I'll just have to adjust my hood before I wear the coat, but it'd be nice if you could do this while wearing it too. I started missing my fur trim hooded jacket because it provided that little extra shield that blocked the winds from going in my face. This jacket didn't do too well in this category, sadly.
Wearing it in the city where it's a bit cold and damp is where this jacket shines! -5C with some rain and I was happy to be warm and dry!

I bought this coat last fall and wore it in Toronto all winter and found I was still cold. A little disappointing for the price. The fit is great and it looks great on but it wasn't as functional as I would've hoped.

I got this coat due to the high quality of the brand and the claim of superior warmth. While this coat is great on some levels, it does not succeed at offering extreme warmth. First the pros: The Centrale has a clean, minimalist design and is very figure flattering. The combo of down plus coreloft keeps it very lightweight which is fine if you're looking for that. Now the cons: First, this coat is not very warm. While they use down plus coreloft to keep this parka from being drafty, it succeeds at being lightweight but fails at warmth. Its waterproof material makes it ideal for temperatures that are wet and cool (40-50 degrees). The hood kind of flops around until you adjust the toggles well enough to get it up around your face as well. The zipper doesn't go all the way down to the bottom of the coat but stops about 6 inches from it and the snaps on the outside also don't go down all the way, so cold air kind of blows up the coat. While this coat is flattering to look at, it doesn't perform and it certainly doesn't seem to be worth the price if you're looking for something to stay warm in temperatures less than 35 degrees. For me, the Patagonia Frozen Range parka is a better bet for staying warm for the cost.

I have quite a few Arc'teryx jackets - all the same size - so I ordered this in an XS as well and it's way too big. It looks like I'm a child wearing my mother's clothing. Very disappointed as there doesn't seem to be another super warm option for me from Arc'teryx that will fit properly.

This is the warmest, most comfortable coat I will ever own!
"Locked down" in a world full of Covid, I'm seeing my children and grandchildren only on our driveways. Living in the midwest, it can get very cold. Not for me!! I'll be warm and cozy!

It's an ok jacket not worth that much money in my opinion pro is it's verily light weight , it is warm , the pockets inside are lined with velvet and it's very soft when you put your hand inside the pocket. Cons it's a lot more bulkier that I thought it ads pounds to your frame and the waterproof outer shell of the coat is rigged and hard that part I don't like. If I were to buy a coat again I would not buy this one . But with that said it keeps you warm and it's light which is a huge plus for walking around in Nyc without feeling like your carrying a heavy coat around.

Compared this online and in person to the Aether Apparel Stirling assuming website descriptions made them comparable coats. Got to the store realize this wasn't "natural down" as listed above. Rather it is Primaloft insulated. Not a negative. It's a well made piece. Just having accurate material data on the corporate site would have saved me a trip to the store.

I bought this parka just before winter of 2017-2018, so have now been through two seasons with it. I wanted to love this parka. There are some great things about it - it's lightweight (which for me counts for a lot), the fit is flattering and contrary to some posters I like last season's pale fawn colour! But similar to others' experience, the zipper failed on it. From the beginning it was sticky. The actual teeth of the zipper are pretty small, not robust, so I'm always worried I'm going to ruin the zipper because I have to yank so hard on it. Additionally, the zipper splits from the bottom semi-regularly, which also results in my wrestling the pull down aggressively to close the split - and again I worry the fine teeth will be damaged. Finally, after a season and a half of use, the zipper pull snapped; I've been using a paper clip since early February :( I am going to fill out a repair request now that the season is ending, so hopefully a sturdier zipper can be put in.
Another disappointment is how drafty it is from the bottom. For this price point I would have hoped to be warm in the coldest temps down to where the coat covers, or pretty close. As it is, my upper body is usually warm enough but anything below my hips needs additional layers below -10C or so :(
Generally I really like this brand. My household has a couple of other Arcteryx products that have lasted years and have always been serviced well. So it makes me a bit sad that this lovely-seeming coat didn't live up to my expectations.

I was looking for warm cold weather coat for winter. The Centrale parka was the warmest coat I found in the store. The colour was terrible, like faded-dirty black( charcoal),faded red(burgundy) and gray-blue.I think this coat designed for 80 -90 years old people.I wish the company can be more creative.

This jacket is super light and looks great. However, it is not a winter parka! I received it 2 days ago. I loved it on the first day (-5 to 10 degrees outside). On the second days (-17 degree) I realised that it is really not warm enought. I was hoping to wear this parka this winter but I am afraid I'll have to go back to my hold parka. I love arcteryx, I have 3 other arcteryx jacket, but this one just does not hold up to its promisses. I am very disapointed.
