By far, one of the best winter coats I have ever owned. This jacket is very warm even in the extreme Northern Ontario climate of Canada. I would highly recommend this coat.

Even when the temperature is freezing outside, I have to really think if it'll be worth it to wear the jacket. This isn't good for city-use. Sure you'll be invincible with the below freezing weather and high winds, but once you hit the subway, don't be surprised to be the weirdo sweating and trying to take his jacket off. I've yet to experience weather cold enough that warranted wearing my Rho LT *and* the Cerium SV. Even if I was standing in the same spot in snow for, literally, 3 hours.
It's deceptively warm because of how light it is. It's lighter than most of my light jackets and even the Alpha SV jacket.
I highly suggest having this in your arsenal, but be very sure of if the day calls for it.

A great down jacket, really warm below zero, I would say it`s almost twice as warm as Cerium LT.
I only miss an internal mesh pocket.

Verified PurchaseReview for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
I searched for 3-4 months to find a stylish, warm jacket that could handle the cold northeast winter. The Cerium SV hits the mark. Athletic fit (not puffy), super warm, and suitable to wear in business-casual office environment. The coat doesn't have a ton of pockets (only three) but a small sacrifice to make for an otherwise fantastic and well-made jacket.
I purchased the size medium in Pilot color (for context, I am 5'9 160 lbs).

Sehr gute Verarbeitung, verliert kaum Daunen.

This coat is a BEAST. I just got back from 13 days in Iceland and I wore this coat every day. We were there from Sept 19 thru Oct 1 so there wasn't snow yet, but believe me the wind gusts and frigid winds off the glaciers were face melting. Unfortunately we were only prepared for snow and not extreme wind and sideways rain. So I soaked this completely thru with rain a few times but it made it about 30-40 minutes without feeling the wetness. When it wasn't raining tho, I was toasty as could be and actually had to take it off a few times a day because I was sweating from how warm it was and had to take off mid layers. It is light as can be and the inside pocket has a stuff sack and it packs down small like the size of a Nerf football or a fanny pack. My only gripes are; 1. That yes a few feathers have come out in a year, like 20 maybe, 2. You cant sinch the fabric in front of your mouth because the hood is drawstring and makes a crown around your head and it is super nice, but your mouth is exposed at times.

This jacket is great for keeping warm in freezing temps, especially when belaying or standing still in the backcountry.
Fits great over my Iser jacket in the backcountry between runs.
Comes with a stuff sack that makes the jacket easy to put in a backpack.
Also works great as an around town jacket on the colder days, but the Cerium LT jacket would be a more versatile option.

The jacket feels very comfortable. You really can feel te quality to it.
When i received the package, i almost thought the package was empty, because it's so light. When i took the jacket out of the box and putted it on, it felt like a cloud. it's simply amazing.
In quality and features whatsoever i do not see any cons.
The only thing is that the outside of the jacket feels like it will rip open easily.
So when you expect any kind of harshness will come to it, i would recommend to put a hardshell on top of it.
I think this is probably the price you pay when you buy a warm jacket this lightweight.

Pro's
The Cerium SV delivers a close fit (but not restrictive) mid layer that also excels as a stand alone piece when you know its going to be cool but dry. The down stays well (does not shift) and I have never been shocked with an all to familiar cold spot as Ive often found with competitors down jackets.
Fits great under the SV shell (I wear large in both) but still allows room for a variety of base layer options.
Hood is as described, great change in this years hood designs on Arc'teryx.
Con's
The price is high, time will tell if its durable for multi seasons so I can get my value over time.

This jacket provides a great amount of warmth for the light weight. Its also very packable. The zipper is smooth, the pockets are big enough, the cuffs are comfortable with or without gloves. The hood is cut very well to give great coverage yet you can still see when its up. Highly recommend.

I've only had this jacket a few weeks and only worn it a few times, but I've already fallen in love with it. It is light, warm and fits great. The construction is very solid with detail paid to all finishing. I normally wouldn't be looking forward to colder weather, but now I am as I expect this jacket will keep me toasty in the Winnipeg winters.

I bought this to wear under a shell, but it is so nice I'm sure I'll be wearing as a stand alone piece as well. I'm 6'-4", 215 lbs. I wear a 44 long in a suit coat. I ordered an Oxblood XL and the fit is perfect. Not too baggy in the torso, sleeves just fine for my 35" arms. Plenty of room in the shoulders, so no restriction of movement. Features are minimal, but I like that. The hood only has a single draw string, but it works! When properly adjusted, it feels snug in a soft, pillow like way, and there is no peripheral restriction when I turn my head. Construction quality is first rate, no loose threads, no misaligned seams, no errors of any kind.
I own a Theta SV L, a Venta SV XL, and a Gamma MX XL and this jacket mates well with the first two, not the latter. The Theta has a long torso and completely covers the Cerium, even with my arms raised. In this configuration the Cerium feels just a bit compressed, but the Theta in XL is way to voluminous for me, so I'm OK with the slight compromise. I'm sure when I'm out and about, it will feel fine. I have the same comments about the Venta SV, but this jacket has a shorter torso, so the hem of the Cerium gets exposed during activity. The Gamma MX is too short for this combo because it leaves the hem of the Cerium exposed at all times.
This jacket is the warmest coat I have ever owned and it feels as light as air. Like all Arc products, it comes at a premium price, but I'm sure I'm going to love it every time I put it on, just like my other Arc garments. I was planning on buying a new winter sleeping bag this year, but this coat inside my 3 season bag will probably allow me to avoid that purchase. " See Honey, I've actually saved money!"

I've been using the Cerium LT for some time now as a lightweight layering piece, and while the LT was perfect for backpacking, I found myself wishing it was a bit warmer for those extra chilly days around town. Enter the Cerium SV. It arrived one cool New England autumn day, and like an excited kid Christmas morning, I ripped open the box, threw the jacket on, popped on the hood, zipped it up, and stood for a good 30 seconds before sticking my face in front of a fan to stop the heat stroke that seemed only imminent. To say this jacket is warm would be an understatement. While I haven't been able to prove this, I'm convinced Arcteryx somehow managed to fit a small nuclear reactor in the jacket somewhere, as I don't think there is any other explanation for the amount of heat generated when this is all fasted up.
In usual Arcteryx fashion, everything is top notch. The literature says this jacket is trim fitting, similar to the LT, though it's quite a bit baggier, likely to accommodate some extra layering which is unlikely you'll need. Hood is very well designed and covers a good portion of the face, including mouth and nose if you pull it up a bit. Waist has a drawstring, which is a much appreciated addition over the LT, and the extra chest pocket is a great way to keep electronics or other personal items warm while out.
All in all a great piece, one that will certain become a staple in my winter wardrobe.

Well I've now had this piece for over a year and it has certainly passed my tests and surpassed my expectations. I hesitated for a long time to buy a down jacket because I live on soggy Vancouver Island and I figured it wouldn't be worth it, but now that I own one I practically live in it. The cut is a great balance between a layering piece and a standalone jacket (read: does not look out of place in pub) and paired with a lightweight breathable shell you'll be unstoppable. I've worn it anywhere from working in the Yukon and Northern Manitoba to surfing and mountaineering on the island (and even a nippy day snowboarding in the Rockies). Shell fabric is surprisingly strong and after I stopped babying the jacket it held up to minor bushwhacking and general folly. LOOKS GOOD, FEELS GOOD, WORKS GREAT.

Very warm, almost hot. Great for very cold climates, ie: Mountain cities or the upper Midwest. Love the hooded version, though that's a personal preference.
One thing that bothers me about it, and really the only thing, is that the face fabric is pretty thin. I would almost consider it to be fragile.
This is definitely not a warming layer to be worn if you're doing any cold weather hiking. This is more of an around-town or hanging around a ski resort jacket.
Love it, just wasn't expecting the fabric to be so thin.

This jacket proved itself invaluable from my winter commutes to work in Upstate NY to skiing the slopes in Vermont! The generous hood is always appreciated and the fit is never constricting. My only complaint is the insulation has a tendency to poke through the seams, but overall I highly recommend!

Overall it's a great jacket. Not a piece to wear for a fashion statement but that's not what it's intended for. The arm holes are high so I had to size up. Tried the large but it was too snug. I am not very tall 5-10 195 and the large would not work for me. Hopefully the XL will work without swallowing me up. I will say the customer service has been awesome allowing me try different sizes to get it right.

I have only had it around town so far, but light and warm as advertised. Just a t-shirt underneath at about 0 C and no problem. Looking forward to getting it on the mountains soon. The only con thus far is the colour. I missed out on the Pilot last year and the black was a distant second. Only 4/5 stars as I have not really tested it in severe weather yet.
