The first time i pulled on the Jacket it felt like an old friend it is one of the best cuts out there. It is a jacket that's beautifully closely fitted, but impressively unrestrictive at the same time. It's neat and for me at least just feels absolutely 'right'. The same's true of the excellent hood. It does a great job of fitting a non-helmeted head, gives plenty of facial protection and has a proper, fully-stiffened hood for extra reassurance when the rain comes sheeting down. The fabric breathes decently and has a pleasant, solid feel to it. An excellent no-nonsense, surprisingly light and tough mountain jacket that soaked up the worst the mountains could throw at it and came back for more. It's beautifully cut, has a great hood for general use and should last for years thanks to the all-over Gore-Tex fabric. One of the very best mountain shells I have used.

This is a great jacket if you have the money for it. I love the way it fits, but had to get a size smaller than normal in order to it to fit well. I understand it was made a bit larger so you can add layers under it, but the sleeves were still too long. The best part about the jacket is breathability.

I compared the same size of my Beta, Gamma, and Atom jackets and I found that the Beta runs bigger in size. I assumed this is due to the nature of hardshell, which acts as an outer layer to other more insulated jackets. However, I wish they could size the Beta a little tighter (athletic fit) as I found the Beta is quite versatile in rainy days during early autumn or summer. Very satisfied with the quality of Gore-Tex Pro fabric and the lightweight (LT) feature is perfect for a day full of outdoor activities.

I got this jacket for my birthday 5 years ago and has been the most reliable rain jacket I own. I don't even use an umbrella when I have my jacket on. Being able to layer underneath is definitely a big bonus too!

This jacket fits absolutely perfect. I am 5'10", 155lbs and bought a medium. Leaves room for layering yet doesn't look baggy when wearing stand alone. I have tried this jacket in heavy rain so far and it absolutely has stood up to the challenge. Not a drop of water got under the shell. I can't wait to test it out in windy sub zero temps. (I also bought the Proton AR Hoody as my under layer to this.) I would very much recommend this shell. It looks great.

The Beta LT is the only shell I'll ever need. It's the best value shell on the market made of Goretex Pro. It hasn't failed - even on a long day of ski touring in freezing rain, blocks the wind on more than a few gusty summits, and breathes well compared to most rain gear. The designers did a wonderful job of keeping the jacket lightweight, while maintaining the key pieces that make it a well-rounded shell. It's my go-to for skiing, hiking, mountaineering, and traveling.

Bought this jacket for Skiing in Obergurgl in April 17. I am 6ft 41inch chest. Large fits perfectly on its own or just enough room for Atom AR insulation layer. It is a trimming fit than my Theta AR jacket. I used it with just a base layer in temp range -2oC to 16oC and it was fine and totally blocked out the wind. Colder than that i added the Atom AR. The only downside is a arm pass pocket wouldn't add much weight and would make this a great all round jacket. It wasn't too much of an issue as I used the inside pocket for ski pass and put my phone in my ski pant pocket. Will use this jacket for walking in summer, it packs really small for a Gortex Pro jacket.

I bought this for a trip to South America. Wore it to Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain - a mountain a couple of hours outside of Cuzco, Peru. The hike was 3.5 hours to the summit. We experienced, heat, rain, hail and cold temps all within this time. When warm, having the arm pit zippers was a great way to keep from over heating. The pouring rain and hail, jacket done a masterful job. Kept me completely dry. Then it was off to Brazil, spent 3 days and 2 nights in the amazon. It was the rainy season and when it rains, it rains hard. Couldn't imagine my trip without my Arcteryx jacket. Kept me dry, kept the wind out, but need a mid-layer for colder temps. After a month of traveling, the jacket was dirty with amazon mud. Followed cleaning procedures and looks like new again.

This review is for people who are searching endlessly for the perfect jacket, and aren't sure what to choose. Before I bought this jacket, I was looking for something that: -has hand warmer pockets -has pit zips or breathes well enough without them -can fit under a harness -has enough range of motion to ice climb with -can stand up to bushwacking and hugging rock -is bombproof in the PNW's heaviest rains (REALLY heavy!) -i can use for Emergency SAR -weights right around 10-12oz or less -can mountaineer -can ultralight backpacking -can climb ice and rock -look good and function in the city -can do almost everything It's a great jacket. It costs a lot compared to other options, but its literally totally rain rain proof and super tough. The fabric is supple and makes minimal noise. Love it, glad I bought it. Always excited to wear it. The hood adjustments are freaking awesome and the inner face is soft. I've seen some seriously hard wind and rain (Washington State Coast) and this hood is secure and comfortable. There is only ONE thing that would make this jacket more perfect. This is the entire point of reviewing this jacket, to deliver this message... The only thing that would make this jacket the ultimate, most versatile jacket would be one extra inch of length, especially in the front. This would make it more harness compatible, and hence better for climbing, and it would also make it slightly more ideal for backpacking/walking up mountains in wet conditions. It would be my dream come true to one day be able to have this exact jacket, with the same athletic cut and an extra inch of length. Height: 68 inches (5'8'') Weight: 175 lbs Build: Average Typical jacket size: Medium

I'll start of by saying I now have 11 arcteryx jackets. I'm not sure if that's good or bad haha. This isn't my favorite jacket yet but definitely top 3. It is a trim fit which is how it was designed so that's why I rated it true too size. I'm 6' and about 150-155lbs so I'm tall and skinny but with an athletic build mostly from rock climbing. I have about a 38" chest which is what arcteryx says is a small and that's exactly what I ordered and I think it's perfect but I'd like to add onto that. I have a mix of small and medium jackets from arcteryx depending on its use. I wanted a trim fitting jacket just for wearing around day-to-day use, the small for me will be ok for a light layer, I wouldn't go thicker than my atom lt, if I were to use it in the backcountry I would've opted for the medium due to the trim fit. So be sure to keep the cut in mind on all jackets when choosing a size. The jacket seems really durable, not as thick as my beta AR but still feels like it'll take a beating just fine. My beta AR is a medium and I like the trim fit of the beta lt much better for my size. However the larger beta AR is nice if I need a thicker layer but I don't like it as much for just wearing around town. Haven't had the chance to wear it much yet but I know I'll be really happy with it!

First off, let me start this review by saying that I ordered a size Large in this Beta LT. I am male, approximately 5'9", and 185lbs. I have about an average athletic build since I do enjoy weightlifting as a sport, but I also enjoy outdoor sports such as kayaking, hiking, and camping. My chest size is 40" while my waist size is 35". I heard a lot of great things about this product and decided it was time for a new hardshell for skiing/ hiking/ casual wear in rainy weather. I ordered this Beta LT a few days ago and I've only just received it in the mail. Eager to try it on, I opened the box and to my surprise the jacket fit exactly as I thought it would. Reading many other reviews before making my decision, I noticed that a lot of users rated the jacket as fitting very slim, or trimmer, than the standard regular jacket. THIS IS TRUE! Keep in mind that the jacket is advertised as a trim fit, not an athletic fit, so it is designed to fit closer to the body to retain warmth when participating in activities with high exertion. The reason why I went with a size Large and not a Medium is because I know I wanted to use this jacket for more than just spring, summer, and fall activities. I wanted to use this jacket for when it gets cold as well. Had I ordered the Medium, the fit would have been so trim so as to only allow a base layer and maybe a very light mid layer. But having ordered the large, I can safely say that I can throw on a base layer, a t-shirt, and a jumper or other heat-retaining article underneath the Beta LT in the event it gets cold outside. Having said this, while wearing just a t-shirt underneath the jacket feels comfortable and does not have too much loose material flapping around due to the largeness of the jacket. I will say the arms length on the jacket is a bit long, but the hook-and-loop tapes at the wrists of the jacket do the job in holding up the sleeves so they don't get in the way. Also, you might want to know that the hood is VERY big (it's designed to house a helmet), but this is remedied by the smart design of the hood so it is easy to secure and tighten the hood around your head without losing the aesthetic appeal. In summary, if you're wanting this jacket primarily for high-exertion activities where you will only need a simple base layer underneath, then order true to size (i.e., if you're a Medium, then get a Medium). However, if you're like me and want to use this jacket for cold weather activities or you just live in a place that's cold, then you may want to consider sizing up one so you can layer underneath. Either way, you'll enjoy the waterproof and versatility benefits of the Beta LT. Great product by Arc'teryx! The product quality, all things considered, is amazing!

3 things that matter to me when choosing a waterproof jacket: The length of the sleeves and hem. Having a jacket that seeps water up your arms as soon as you lift your arms above head or allows spindrift around the mid-drift is definitely sub optimal. Zip's that open and close with speed and efficiency... And keep the water out. A super hood, one of those ones that keeps your head in the middle of it no matter which way you turn it and adjusts to the perfect size. The Beta LT is sleek in design, with Arc'Teryx's trademark laminated seams and unique colour palette in a bright mint green with contrasting yellow zips. You can feel the quality of the design as you first take it off the hangar. LT stands for light weight, this is a jacket designed for those who have weight on their mind but are looking for the extra durability of a full Goretex Pro shell. Starting from the top, the hood fits perfectly, it articulates well securing neatly around the head and has the full capacity for a helmet. The fit is athletic and is a good width across the shoulders and chest, without restricting the neck movements. The elbows are well articulated to give excellent freedom and range of movement without the sleeves riding up, this is added to with thin but effective velcro cuffs. For winter activities the cuff may be slightly narrow if you like to tuck your gloves in. There is a chunky waterproof main zip which does up smoothly and without getting caught, with two thinner chest pocket zips on each side which are also easy to use although these have let a little water in on heavy rain days. The main body of the jacket draws in at the waist and has enough space for a soft shell or mid weight fleece underneath. This means it doesn't puff up over a harness or waist belt which is a bonus when climbing. The hem length is probably shorter than I would like for winter activities, I've used this jacket for ski touring as a weight compromise but would want something a bit longer for winter climbing in Scotland where the spindrift seems to get everywhere and your doing a lot more reaching. In summary, this is a cracking little jacket for the lightweight adventurer, coming in at at mere 310g. I use it mainly for summer activities and ski touring in the Alps in the winter. The lighter paclite option would be the Beta SL (superlite) at 280g, and if you are looking for something to accommodate some extra layers and with a bit more length the Theta AR (All round) would work well bringing the weight up to 420g. For relativity, I am 5'8", athletic build with wide shoulders and long arms and my normal top size is medium. This jacket is size medium.

I occasionally test gear for Gore-tex and was recently gifted with a men's Beta T Shell. Although I am a woman, I prefer men's shells to women's. I am a wildlife field biologist and tracker in the high Rockies and I love the Anaconda color which is similar to Forest Green, which blends in with my surroundings well. The Gore-tex Pro fabric sheds rain and snow well, and the watertight zippers keep the moisture out of my pockets, although in heavy snow or rain I do not keep anything in them that cannot be exposed to moisture, since they are not waterproof. This shell is nice and light and can be rolled up quite small so it is easy to fit into any size backpack. I use this shell for many of my daily hiking and snowshoeing trips into the back and frontcountry of the Rockies. All in all another great piece of gear from this company.
