The Beta LT was exactly what I was looking for when I needed to purchase a shell for (primarily) outdoor winter activities. I do a lot of winter hiking/trekking, but also wanted a shell that was versatile enough for some skiing or other cold and wet weather activities. The Beta LT has shined for all of these purposes and I love every time I put it on. It's impregnable - cold wind is only noticeable because of the parts of your body that the jacket doesn't cover, rain and wet weather simply beads and runs off (remember to re-treat the shell as necessary as part of care and maintenance).
I take a medium almost sight-unseen in every Arc'teryx product, and the medium in the Beta LT was absolutely true-to-size. While there are many body shapes and everyone will experience a fit that's a little different, what I love about the jacket is the ability to layer everything I need for various situations, and still feel like the fit is perfect. For example, I can wear a wool base layer, a fleece, and a Proton LT underneath without feeling bulky at all. On the flip side, I could wear a t-shirt or base-layer alone and the jacket doesn't feel too big. The jacket feels incredibly well made, and very durable.
I strongly recommend this jacket based on my experiences. I would not hesitate to buy another, or to recommend to close friends and family. You will be hard pressed to find a better shell for whatever the outdoors can throw at you. I do wear mine in urban-settings as well - i.e. to the office or for errands during bad/inclement weather. If you buy this shell for strictly urban use, I can't say that it won't suit - it looks great, albeit a little technical perhaps, but there are jackets in the Arc'teryx line-up that are better aimed at what you may require in an urban setting (e.g. the new Fraser).
For comparison, I am 5'8", ~165lbs, and an athletic build. Medium is absolutely perfect, and I wear medium in all other Arc'teryx products.

Just took this shell skiing, worked to perfection. I debated between medium and large. I am 6' - 170 lbs with broad shoulders/athletic build...medium fit perfectly.
Even with trim fit I was able to wear a patagonia fleece and Atom LT under it as layers without it looking puffy.
Live in south so wanted a versatile shell I could wear for more than skiing but could still handle to cold...this is it.

So I've had a older generation Beta LT in Heron color. It's a similar grey color to last seasons Neptune color (grey with yellow accents)
The hardshell jacket is great. The versatility is excellent having worn it as a general rain shell in the city, a shell going skiing, climbing, hiking, cycling, etc. The jacket is very well rounded. Like most Gore-tex jackets, it's breathability isn't bad and although it isn't going to ever replace a softshell in terms of breathability, it's performance is admirable.
The features of the jacket are rather slim but it lends itself for ease of use and simplicity. In the years I've owned the jacket, I had a case of the jacket hem delaminating after a wash. I sent it in and had it repaired for no cost which is fantastic.
The biggest concern is the wear on the DWR treatment. Overtime, I've used tech wash and a DWR spray product to reapply it on the face fabric, and have used DWR wash in products alike and the water shedding capabilities have never been restored to a degree I'd desire but it'll suffice.
Lastly, and this has occurred with other shell jackets that Arc'teryx has made, but the velcro straps for the cuffs are fantastic in keeping wind and "most" elements out, but the bigger concern is the wear on the face fabric in that region. The area pills and frays although it hasn't necessarily seen direct wear to rock or other outdoor elements. It would be great to see such an area be reinforced with a tougher denier face fabric such as the N-80px or better.
Otherwise, the jacket is amazing and would highly recommend it for multiple activities.

I used this jacket as my hardshell for over a month guiding in the Dolomites and Alps this past summer '19. It was light enough to pack on alpine rock climbs and as my cragging rain shell. It was also robust enough for some very wet and snowy conditions encountered on the Breithorn Plateau. It was a great shell for the upper half of the Matterhorn as well, where the wind picks up and you need to keep moving at a fast pace. I'm planning on using it for my ice climbing hard shell this winter for when its wet.
Simple alpine hardshell, no frills just function.

Great and exactly the quality you expect from Arcteryx. Lightweight construction makes it optimal for packing and layering. Compared to the AR, works great with the Atom hooded coats.

Overall this is my favorite jacket period. It is so versatile I can wear it pretty much all year round. It has become my go to jacket for every day use. It is light enough to wear with just a base layer or long sleeve shirt on warmer days and roomy enough to wear a nice mid layer such as my Atom LT jacket on colder days. Waterproofing is amazing. I have worn it in torrential rain to heavy snow while skiing (helmet compatible hood is huge) and even just casually while out and about. And I absolutely love all the color combinations. I am close to 6 feet tall and 170 pounds, bought size XL and the fit is perfect.

Purchased this shell as a waterproof outer layer for a hiking trip to Northern Ireland. As promised, the lightweight shell delivered and kept me bone dry when required. Durable, and packs light. Recommend.

I've owned this jacket for over 10 years. It has traveled with me all over the world, from seas to 12,000 elevation on casual outings to outdoor activities. Couple of years ago bottom seam came apart partially due to negligent use, so I send it in for repairs. It is looking as good as the first day and now it's been handed down to my son for another decade of use.
Awaiting anxiously for the new colors to come in this year.

Used this jacket on an 80 miler in the Sanger de Cristo Range. During pouring rain I was very dry. I did not overheat during high energy activity. Also during a hail storm the jacket kept me warm in the aftermath of the storm. The jacket fits close to the body. There is room for a mid-layer underneath. I am 6 ft 1 in and 177 lbs. I purchased a large size and it fits perfectly. Best backpacking shell I have ever owned.

My husband bought this for me after raving about his Arc'teryx jacket for a year and I absolutely love it. I am 5 ft 9 and slender, and the length of the jacket itself and the arms is long enough and flattering. I can wear this jacket over anything and it traps the heat, despite being so lightweight. It's extremely easy to pack since it takes up no room.

Purchased the jacket for several days of hiking in Vermont. Familiar with the brand since I have a 10+ year old ski bib that has been very reliable. The jacket provided an adequate level of comfort as the weather varied from cool to somewhat humid conditions and on occasion isolated showers. The outside hand pockets and inside left pocket functioned well but probably could use an additional larger inside right pocket. All the YKK zippers and cinches worked without a hitch. Furthermore, during the summer months, I wear the jacket as protection against mosquitos when doing yard work. The jacket is lightweight, versatile and attractive, and would recommend it.

I love this jacket! It fits very well and sheds the rain beautifully. I like the length and the Aurora color is vibrant. The hood is big enough for a bike helmet which is helpful for a bike commute. Overall, this is a great jacket.

In short, I highly recommend this jacket to any who may be on the lookout for a durable, versatile shell. While it maybe on the expensive side, this jacket will last several years with proper care.

Amazing lightweight jacket that is thoroughly waterproof and provides plenty of arm mobility. It fit slightly long on the torso, but that was good as it provided good coverage. My only complaint is that the hood straps are not as good as I want them to be, so getting the hood super tight on a rainy day is a bit of a struggle. As a geologist I needed a jacket that would hold any weather and this does just the job. Even with a more fitted design, I can still fit 3+ layers with it. Even after being caught in a blizzard everything was nice and dry, including my phone which I kept in the outside pocket. I use it for a daily commute on my bike and is very breathable - and I am a generally sweaty person. To top it all off, the colour is amazingly vibrant. Could not recommend more!

I have been using this jacket for about a year now. I wear it around town in rainy Amsterdam, but also when on hiking trips. What I like about this jacket is that it feels durable, but is very light weight at the same time. I also really enjoy the trim fit. There is plenty of room for layering, but when worn over a t-shirt, the jacket doesn't look over sized.
I can weer this jacket on its own down to around 10c. When it get's above 20c, the jacket is not breathing that well for me anymore, but that's the case with most gtx jackets I think. For the warmer days it would have been nice the have pit-zips. However, I must say that I don't really miss them, the gtx pro seems to be very breathable.
Overall a very nice jacket. Higly recommend!

Beautiful colour, lightweight, pairs great with my Atom LT! It's been great for both hiking and skiing and super durable. Sometimes when wearing a mid layer underneath it can be a bit difficult to zip up the all the way in the neck/hood area. I also wish it was just a bit longer - I like for jackets to cover my bottom :)

This is now my go to hardshell, having upgraded from a Berghaus outer layer.
I have found it to be a reliable, lightweight waterproof, that stows away into a tight space. The small details are what make this jacket excel, big external pockets for OS maps etc, and an internal pocket for valuables.
Solid zips that so far seem to be waterproof and windproof.
Solid construction of the Gore-Tex exterior, which if a little noisy, seems to take the rough scrapes of rock in its stride.
