The size and width were true to size. I've owned a dozen or so Merrells, including this shoe, and have always found them the most comfortable to wear - especially hiking, walking, or just on your feet all day. I have worn them all across Europe and they have never let me down. The support is more firm than a running shoe, but actually is more comfortable. The waterproof is really waterproof, not just water resistant.

I have been buying the Merrell Moabs for quite some time and have been quite happy with them. However, I purchased two pairs of the Moab 2 GTX shoes and both pairs have developed pronounced squeaking or noise with each step. So much so, that I can't wear them to the office anymore because of the squeaking/creaking as I walk around the office.

I have owned many Merrell shoes over the years, and I've never been disappointed with their fit and style. These Moab 2 GTXs are no exception. I live in the Pacific Northwest where it rains a lot, and I needed a shoe that protected my feet for those rainy morning walks. These shoes are fantastic at keeping moisture out. Plus, I'm of an age where falling arches have created a need for solid arch support and firmness. Merrell shoes provide me with the right amount of arch support and sole firmness. I'm excited about these Moab 2 GTXs, and would highly recommend them.

I bought these as shoes to wear while working as a mail carrier. Pros: they keep my feet happy even after a week straight of 10+ hour shifts, which is exactly what I was looking for. My feet stay dry in the rain, so the waterproof seems legit to me. Cons: I think the tread is designed for trail conditions, so the grip isn't necessarily bad, but it's also not spectacular, when walking on certain surfaces (e.g. wet pebbled concrete, wet porches, etc.). The size is weirdly off; before I bought these I went to a vendor and the size 10W Moab 2 (non-GTX) fit my feet like a second skin. I wanted the GTX and the vendor didn't carry and couldn't stock them, so I ordered online, and the 10W Moab 2 GTXs were literally falling off my feet. I traded them in for 9.5Ws which still felt too big (though I did not exchange them again). Overall I do like them and I'm glad I opted to spring for them. I don't know how they compare with other similar brands, but I would say this product lived up to its reputation.

I usually wear a 10.5, but found that to be too small with these shoes. I returned for a size 11 and they feel great. The shoes have good support and are quite comfortable overall. I bought the black ones and am happy with the look. I wear these as daily show, rather than for hiking, as I like the support.

Fits like a glove! Love my Merrell's!! I had the originals and the 2.0 are just as good. I don't like the cloth lace grommets, but seems most brands in this type of shoe are doing that nowadays.

Right out of the box these felt great. I always liked Merrells but they always ran narrow, but I love the wides. I plan on doing a good bit of walking in England in three weeks and can't wait. I will be sure to add to this review upon returning. I'm very pleased! I think you will also find these shoes are great and will be one of your favorites.

I've been shopping around for some lightweight hiking shoes for about a month now. Bought three pairs from the top three hiking shoe brands (including the Chameleon Shifts from Merrell). The Moab 2 GTX were exactly what I was looking for. Synthetic leather upper (brown color), Gore-Tex, lightweight, and with a Vibram outsole. I just got them and couldn't wait to let everyone know how awesome they are! Synthetic leather looks nice, awesome with a pair of jeans for a casual look. Super lightweight. Vibram outsole is super sticky. The Gore-Tex is as breathable as you would expect from this amazing fabric. I actually tried the regular versions but they're nothing compared to these. Love the leather and GTX. They were worth every penny!

I bought these to wear on light hiking trips and also just for daily use. They are especially good in bad weather. I've had them for about a week, and so far I like them and would recommend them to others. They span a middle ground between sneakers and casual shoes.

This is my fifth pair of Moabs and my first GTX version. They are comfortable, they fit well and they last. The only change I make is I replace the insole with Superfeet inserts. I do that with almost all my shoes. The problem I have with the GTX shoes is that they WON'T STOP SQUEAKING. The insole rubs on the interior of the shoe and squeaks. I replaced the insole with Superfeet and they still squeaked. Time and wear made no difference and the only thing that worked was rubbing Neats Foot Oil on the insole. It only lasts for a little while and the squeaking starts up again.

The shoes are very true to size and have out-of-the-box comfort. I'm not wild about the tread design - I wish it utilized a more lug-style design - but they will last several hundred miles on rocky trails and granite slabs. I'll get another pair, no doubt.

Always reliable and high quality Merrell's; I have been wearing them for a decade and more. They always meet my needs and expectations. They are very comfortable and stable on uneven ground.

This is the third pair of the Merrill Moab I have bought. There have been minor updates over the years, better waterproofing etc. I walk a lot and these shoes get me through the New England winter and wet fall and spring. It's an easy decision for me. They work, they keep my feet warm and dry. Nothing is more dispiriting that wet, cold feet. They are not cheap but they are worth every penny.

I’m in my seventies. As I’ve gotten older through the years, my feet have spread, so in the last 20 years gradually I went from 10.5 to 11 to 11.5 to 12. But all my shoes also became gradually less comfortable. These Merrells are the first I bought in wide. EUREKA! These shoes were comfortable from the moment I put them on. And they’ve become even more comfortable during the two weeks I’ve worn.

I've been on a quest for a wide water-proof shoe. These are exactly what I needed. Although Merrell says their wide's are 2E, they are actually a little wider. I'm a solid 4E and they are very comfortable. I have over 200 miles on them and not blisters or hot spots. The shoes come with an insole that has a stronger arch than most shoes have. Nonetheless, I put my own orthotics in.

The shoes looked and felt great. Unfortunately, there was a large flap of fabric inside the right heel. It appeared that the Gortex liner was sewn in improperly. Also, it was located in an area likely to cause a blister. I returned the shoes and ordered a new pair of the same shoes. What's maddening, is that the person who assembled that part of the shoe thought it was OK.

I purchased this pair for my son in an 11 medium. However, about a year ago, I had bought this style a half size larger and it didn't fit. My son was overseas, and he had to wear them for an emergency job with thicker socks and he got by. When he tried the new pair, 11 medium, he said they were perfect! He like the color, the width, and his toes didn't swim in extra space but neither touch the shoe box. He wore them at home for a few hours and that weekend he went on a camping trip. At his return, I asked if the shoes were still comfortable and he said they were exactly what he needed. What can I say? He loves them and now I know his exact size. I must add, that the staff at Zappos was absolutely awesome when I conveyed my experience with the first pair of shoes that didn't fit. Although I have bought them almost a year ago, I received partial credit....That is Zappos for you! The wonderful staff listens to the issue and solves it in the best possible way...keeping the customer HAPPY! That is why I always return to Zappos!!

Fit and size was the best I’ve found in this type of shoe. Comfortable to walk in. Disappointed that the laces need replacing so quickly after not that much wear.

Although my feet measure a women's 8 1/2, I usually buy a 9, just to get toe room. So following this thought I bought a men's 8 in this shoe thinking I would get a bigger toe box. I did, but not where I thought I would, it was up! I took the insole out of an old pair of women's size 9 Merrell hiking boots and they are the identical size of the ones in these Moab's. So I exchanged them and immediately got a pair of broken in shoes. Interesting, yes?!

Got these on time and put them right on and they fit really well and seemed perfect and I threw the box away... a done deal. Then I wore them a few times and they started making a noise as I read in a few reviews. The more walked the more my wife would giggle at the noise and the more it annoyed me to the point where I called Zappos and asked if I could send them back without the box and thank heavens they let me, I wasn't going to wear them anymore no matter what. Too bad, otherwise they are a great shoe

Versatile shoe with Gore-Tex water protection. I have the lightweight Moab 2 also. That one has the mesh upper, and water soaks through fairly easily. So on rainy days, or just after the rain is over, I switch to my Moab 2 with Gore-Tex. Unlike the Moab waterproof version, which I find is too watertight for comfort, the Gore-Tex version is just as soft and comfortable as the lightweight version.

I took these right out of the box, fit like a glove. I wore them for a whole week of touring in Iceland. Very comfortable. I also got the ones that were waterproof, and that was wonderful when walking into a glacier that had lots of ice and slush to walk through.

Well worn through all types of weather and on all types of terrain. My goto for when it's wet and wild. After over a year very little wear.
