After less than 60 days of wear the sole is separating from the boot. My last pair lasted a long time but the quality has clearly gone downhill. I alerted Merrell that the pair I received seemed defective to me and they said that they were fine and were not replacing them. If you're thinking about purchasing a Merrell product run away and buy a brand that stands behind its products!

Heel is stiff and hard on heel strike. Definitely not for running. Walk/hike is fine. Wide box is nice.

It's Merrell so it's a good piece of footwear. But the Moab series it's not its predecessor, the Yakota. Bulkier in the girth and it is taller than the speedier, sportier version I like. And the top around the ankle, to me, seems to fit like a funnel. If a person does some higher-level hiking, one is going to get debris in one's boots. But this design just pours it in. Possibly having just one speed-lace hook (versus two) contributes to that. I am 100% Merrell loyal, mostly because they fit my foot really well (not thin at all but not extra wide, either), but I'm shopping around with after-sellers to find the now-defunct previous offering in the Yakota series. Merrell has other offerings and this one isn't bad... fine for many hikers, I assume... but not as streamlined as others. But I like to stick around this price point, so for that, the Moab could use some redesign. One last thing, the treads on these, they have micro grooves in them. For traction, I imagine. That might be fine for ballet class but for actually outdoorsin' it, that level of finesse isn't going to make a diff when one is hopping across wet boulders or what have you. Not necessary. Pronounced, defined, rubbery treads work best. And anyway, the grooves pick up micro pebbles that act like little ball bearings sticking out of the treads, kind of nullifying the traction thing. I keep my boots cleaned and ready for the next trip and with the Moab series, that includes having to pick out the debris from the treads afterward so traction is not reduced and so the boots are not scraping along the floor when indoors.
I'd also recommend:
Merrell is my brand, Yakota is my boot, please bring it back (in a breathable version)

Unlike my many older pairs of Moab boots, these boots failed to meet the expectation for comfort on the trail. I tried to work with Merrell customer support on the issue but was told that since I wore the boots outside there was nothing Merrell could do. This leaves open the question on what has changed at Merrell that has led to this level of poor product and service quality?

Not really happy this time around with my purchase because one of the lace retainers on the left shoe broke off after 5 days of daily use. The other issue I have is that the size of this shoe feels more like the waterproof 9.5W that I've had for a year.

Sizing, I wear a 9.5 and that is what I ordered. The ankle never fit right, too big, I bought a size 10, they fit better, but not great for the 7 or so miles I hike. If I could do it again I would buy at a store, to get a better fit.

Not a quality product. Tread is hardly worn, but the sole can fail and part of it break off. If you hike in the city then they should be fine, but venture onto a mountain trail and you could be looking for a new pair of boots.

I bought this shoes following the high reviews, but after 3 weeks they started hurting my soles, I think it's not supported enough as it's written in the description!

I roll my ankle at least once every time I wear these boots. I've tried a few different things like switching out the insole and how tight I lace up the boots. The only thing that has helped is wearing ankle braces, which is something I wish I didn't have to do. Besides the rolled ankle, the traction is great and the quality is what I was hoping for. Just can't keep risking my ankles out in the woods.

I like the shoes but they hurt the top of my feet and are too heavy. I unfortunately will be returning them

I have been a loyal Merrell fan for over 14 years.. They have ALWAYS been my go to shoe and boot... I am an experienced long distance backpacker. I am seriously rethinking my outlook.. I have purchased over 20 pairs of shoes and boots in all styles.. The Moab 2 Ventilator just destroyed my heel tendons (not the Achilles, bottom tendons) .. I used them for a break in hike prior to this week and had some heel pain. I wrote it off as break in.. I wore them this hike and had to bail out on the second day.. The heel pain was debilitating.. I went 27 miles and could no longer walk.. I woke up today and can do NO weight bearing on my left foot .. I am sadly disappointed.... My hike turned into a total nightmare and the next day is even worse.. I have hiked thousands of miles in Merrells, this is probably my last time wearing them ........ My pack weight was only about 26 pounds ...

I have been wearing Merrell for 10+ years and the original Moab series was awesome. They size was always correct and they were broken in, straight out of the box. The new Moab 2 do not fit, size is smaller now, they are hard and uncomfortable. BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL MOAB SERIES - best shoes ever!!!

Been wearing Moabs for years. This pair was defective in the right shoe which has a bump under the ball of my foot. Wore em twice so no returns. Never again, into the trash.

The lace eyelet broke almost immediately and Merrill doesn't consider this a defect. For the price the quality should be better or the shoe should be replaced when something like this happens

Very light, very comfortable, but started falling apart at the seems almost immediately. The tread on the bottom is still in perfect condition while the rest of the boot is falling apart. Shows just how quickly they deteriorate.

This is my 5th pair of merrell shoes. But my first boot. The foot bed is not comfortable at all. There is a large hump right in front of the heel. Cant wear for more than an hour. Cant imagine have a pack on with these shoes. Try them on before you order online. The Do NOT fit like other merrell shoes!

I've bought several Merrell hiking boots and shoes in the past. Usually I can wear them for at least a year and just wear them out. My last pair of boots just self destructed. The rubber cover over the toes started to crack and then just tear apart.

First pair leaked when I got them. Second pair leaked in less than a year. Casual wear.

My husband loves his Merrells, he said it's like wearing slippers right out of the box. However, this pair of Moab 2's do not fit like his previous ones. He has checked the tag several times to see if they sent the wrong size. He tried to wear them to work a couple times, but now they just sit in the mudroom, unused. Will try to return.
