This looked like a great jacket online and someone bought for me as a gift...I asked for the Denali. I am sad to have to use this jacket until I can afford another one...wind cuts right through it...fuzzes all over my clothes, pants, bookbag. I get hairs all over the back of it from classrooms. The black part of this jacket always has gray fuzz all over it and I hate how that looks. I have 3 NF jackets and all are great, with the exception of this one. I will say it is extremely comfortable and somewhat warm, but I am embarrassed by all the lint on me, my stuff, and the black part of the jacket...just doesn't look nice!

Let me preface this by stating that I am a huge fan of TNF and can never have too much of their gear. That being said, I am always amazed to see such high ratings when it comes to this jacket. Obviously it looks great, that pretty much goes without saying, but that is really where the benefits end. It doesn't do well in the rain, it is extremely light, it is completely useless in the rain, and the fabric begins to pill after an extremely short amount of time. You can easily find a similar looking TNF fleece with the same functionality for half the price. For close to $200 I want a jacket that can be worn in the Boston winters and fight off the elements. The Apex is a great looking softshell, which usually goes for around $150, that I would recommend over the Denali. Unless your only concern is style I would stay away from the Denali.

This jacket is everything you would expect out of a northface jacket. Super soft and keeps you warm when you need it and wont have you sweating when its not that cold out. There is only one "flaw" if you will. there are zippers under the arms for venting if you are warm or indoors. the only downside is that the inside sleeve of the jacket was not designed all that well with regards to the zipper. There is almost a Velcro like feel around the zipper that if you are not wearing long sleeves will scratch and itch your arm to an extent that will no longer wear it without long sleeves.
This rating may seem low and i would tell you that if the under arm vents were not there i would rate this at 5 stars. It's a good idea but If i'm wearing a t-shirt i cant just throw it on and run to the store or gas station because i find myself itching my arm the whole time. It is just not comfortable.

Verified PurchaseReview for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
This jacket compared to the previous version is not even close. It's lighter, Doesn't fit or hang nearly as well, No elastic cuffs, no arm pit zippers, feels cheap, like something i would by made by Columbia. I'm kinda shocked NF sell this. Its so crappy. Highly suggest you buy something else. I have had 3 diff Denali jackets, this one is getting returned. it seriously feels like a cheaply made knock off. JUNK!! Come on NF ! You're better than this.

Do not buy this if you had an early version, this version is really cheap and disappointing.

When companies refresh an existing model the goal is to improve features and functionality. Unfortunately TNF completely did the opposite with the Denali 2. They removed zip-in functionality and removed pit zip vents. Go back to the drawing board TNF. I returned this item as soon as I received it.

Beware! For some reason, North Face decided to update their classic Denali Fleece. It's now the "Denali 2," and its terrible. The material is thinner, the pit zips are gone, the tight elastic cuffs have been replaced with a very loose band-style cuff, and the collar is way too high in the front. Overall a poor design by the North Face.

I am 5'6" and about 130 lbs and this thing is HUGE in a small. Fits my brother who is 5'10" and usually wears a large/ medium. I suggest The North Face caters to people who actually want to wear something that fits them.

I purchased this jacket for my husband to replace a worn out Denali I jacket from a few years ago. We are very disappointed with this jacket, especially as compared to the original. First - the fabric is much lighter-weight. Second, the sleeve elastic is too wide and loose. The bottom hem adjustment is located in the front, versus the sides, interfering with the zipper. The various pocket zippers don't have pull tabs, so they are difficult to work. It is a cheaper, less well made jacket and yet is the same price as the old Denali.

This is my first Northface and my last. I found it not to be warm, windproof and very disappointed with it. Even with a sweater it is not what I expected. I have a LLBean which is 6 years old, very similiar and still beats this Denali hands down. I know many people like this item, but I am not one of them. I live in DC and we have normal Winters. I will wait for the Spring to wear this fleece.

What happened??? I purchased a new Denali jacket to replace a 10 year old worn out Denali jacket. The first time I worn the new one one the pit zippers blew out and broke. Quality and craftsmanship are not what they use to be. Zippers and zipper pulls are cheap. Metal sleeve snaps are plastic not metal. Fleece feels cheap. All of my winter gear is North Face and I'm very disappointed.

It's a shame that you don't want big people in your Brand. To me that's total discrimination against larger America

Apparently, the newer denalis aren't like the older Denalis. I cannot remember exactly when I bought my Denali, but I'm going to say late 1990's. I've had the jacket for a long time, and it's my favorite. Always comfortable, feels great, and keeps me warm while not feeling restricted as far as movement or comfort goes. Decided to get another one a couple of weeks ago because they were on sale -- something you very rarely see as far as Denalis are concerned. Figured it might be time to retire the old one as well, and after awhile, you start learning what works for you and what doesn't. The Denali had worked for me for so long, why not get another one, and have functionality as well as comfort.
So, ordered a new one online, tried it on when it arrived, and I was like, this just does not feel as comfortable as my older one. Why? the older ones used to have a two zipper closure for the underarm vents which allowed you to put the zippers where you wanted them as far as closing the vents were concerned. The new ones only have one zipper to close the vent, and so, it only closes the vent in one position. And that position is in the direct opposite of where I have the zippers closed on my older Denali jacket. Consequently, the new one felt totally uncomfortable. Needless to say, I returned it. So, until the start making the Denalis like they used to do, I won't be buying another one.

TNF's staple fleece jacket is decent for cool and/or NON-windy days. It's very bulky but will keep you warm, even warmer when you layer it underneath a an insulated jacket or shell jacket.
The bulkiness will prevent you from wearing much underneath. It has decent hand room to store whatever you want to put in those pockets.
As some posters have already mentioned, it's NOT a good jacket when it's Windy as the wind WILL cut THROUGH the jacket and you WILL freeze! You should wear a shell above the Denali jacket to block the wind or something underneath that is windproof.

This is my FOURTH North Face Denali, and I have to say the first three (as with just about everything else I've ever ordered from North Face) were great, and I was a very satisfied customer. I've ordered tons of NF clothes, footwear, gear, packs, tents, outwear -- and although expensive, it's always been worth it.
Now I just bought my fourth Denali, and big change -- the new "recycled" fleece sheds everywhere -- I find the fuzz on my clothes, in my car, on my equipment, stuck on my straps, all over the place.
I've tried washing and drying it (twice), spent a ton of time with a lint remover roller, and still the insidious "Bolt Blue" strands of fleece are showing up everywhere... If I just lightly pinch the material with my finger tips (NOT my finger nails), I can easily pull out a whole bunch of strands.
And tho not a biggie, I'll just mention the fact that the very cheap snap on the sleeve broke the first day (without my even using it), so I had to super glue that (these USED to be metal snaps on previous Denali's, but no more...)
AMAZING for a $180 fleece jacket!!! North Face used to be worth the big $$, but certainly NOT in this case!!! Big, big disappointment here, from a very long time, hugely devoted North Face customer...

The Logo, the status, the prestige, the cost. For about $200.00 retail, I thought I would be purchasing one of the finest polartec, Northface Jackets available in the market........The Denali Fleece.
My single complaint and the most important, is that this jacket has the heaviest fleece made by Polartec and the wind cuts right through it.
It is not a warm jacket when the wind is blowing. You are cold.........PERIOD!
I had an old Eddie Bauer fleece that I got free of charge for purchasing from them one Christmas, years ago.
It did not have the prestige, the quality, the logo...........or the Cost, but what it was, was windproof............it was a simple fleece as well and very functional.
Returning my Denali and shopping with Eddie Bauer.
Verydissapointed,
