All purpose cold-weather heavy 300-weight fleece - I've been wearing a Denali since the early 2000's. This new Denali 2 is great overall except the way it fits in the armpit area - it's TIGHT compared to the original in the armpit area. Huge issue if you have a large build/large shoulders. Not having pit zips is not good, either, I actually used my pit zips on my older Denali jackets. Otherwise great jacket.

true to size except too large in the belly area I'm 6'2" and 190 lbs and there is way too much room in this thing. A slim fit would have been a better option

Jacket is good as an outer garment but didn't do well as a zip-in layer for the GTX Mountain Jacket. Once inserted, the coat was difficult put on and move around in, and wasn't all that warm. I was disappointed so in sent back the Denali. NF needs to sell a down insert for this jacket....!

I love the Denali series jackets. I bought this for my husband since he keeps eyeing mine, but unfortunately it didn't fit right on him and had to return it. He's about 175 lbs and 5'6" and he medium was too tight but the large was too loose and boxy.

This jacket is nice, but the custom Denali is much nicer! The custom jacket has pit zips (for ventilation & temperature adjustment), several more pockets, and nicer cuffs. When I ordered this regular model, I didn't realize those differences. Sent it back and ordered the custom version. The "upgrade" is well worth the price difference. BTW: I had my last TNF fleece jacket for 30+ years. It's a little threadbare now, but can still use it on mild fall days in the mountains. Thanks for such high quality clothing...

I have always loved the Denali but not a big fan of the new styling, particularly the neck. The collar/neck hole when zipped all the way is is about 6 inches bigger than the circumference of my head and it looks and feels ridiculous. Half zipped the collar sticks out about a foot from my chest and it looks very unproportioned to the rest of the jacket. Everything else is fine and i love North Face products and their style in general but OMG that collar is stupid big and downright ugly.

I sent back my 10 year old navy blue Denali for warranty work because the zipper pull broke. FedEx lost the return shipment so North Face sent me a brand new gray one because they no longer make it in navy. At first I was excited but wow this is an inferior product to the one I got years ago! It's much thinner, much less wind-resistant, the nylon facings are much thinner, it's pilling like crazy - just much less of an outdoor, warm, tough jacket. Not happy with shipping or decline in quality

Great jacket, but the sleeves bunching looks really weird. Happened with size Large, so I exchanged it for a medium and the same thing happened. Looks sloppy and ill fitting.

I love the feel of this comfortable layer. However, the material sheds. I have fuzz all over my shirts and even my office desk chair. I had to use industrial tape to get the fibers out of what it stuck to. I would not recommend this unless you don't mind rolling tape over everything to get the fuzz out.

The jacket is amazing but it was my first time buying something through The North Face website and it was horrible. They were so unkind on the phone, so rude by email. Your products are great but your customer service is incredibly awful.

Purchased this as a surprise gift for the boyfriend. Originally got the M and returned for a Small. He likes the color combination and material very much. Can wear for weekend casual attire, and also does not too inappropriate with business clothes. So far he likes it a lot and we like having a little bit of matching (mine is the pink ribbon version!) on the weekends :)

Bought this for my boyfriend as a surprise gift. He is a very standard size M guy, but somehow for North Face it was more like an L or XL on him. He loves it but we had to return it at the store and reorder a size S. He just received it yesterday, loves it! Makes me happy too.

The color and quality of this jacket is great! However, my husband couldn't wear it. He said that the shoulders were too tight. The body of the jacket fit, so going up a size wouldn't work. The cut of the jacket in the shoulders is not ample enough for someone with broad shoulders.

I bought a Men's Denali a couple of years ago and I like it. It could be a bit thicker and fit a bit closer for my taste, but I like it. I was in a store tonight looking for similar jackets with pit zips and, as usual, found none. Then I checked the Denali and found that the pit zips have gotten significantly shorter since I bought mine! On the men's small they are about 5 inches long - practically useless! My main reason for selecting the Denali was good ventilation for skiing. When I start a downhill run I have them zipped. But by the time I get to the bottom (or before) I unzip them to let the heat out. Being on the underside of the arm, this works well even when it's snowing. The pit zips are now so short as to be ineffective.

I returned this as I didn't like the way it fit Seemed as though it was bulky in the shoulders then tight around the waste with no give.

It should be 1/3 the price. I was looking for a light jacket and have been pleased with past NF products. After some research I thought the Denali was for me. As soon as I put the jacket in my hands I was disappointed. It was too light and has an odd mix of fabric on the outside (which stood out more when I saw it in person). My wife was trying to understand why some of the coat was fuzzy and some was not. The zippers seemed cheap and I doubted it would hold up through daily use. It is an upgraded fleece. If someone gave it to me as a gift I would be happy to wear it on occasion. I have returned the one I ordered.

It was a great jacket up until two years ago when TNF foolishly removed the loops on the cuffs that you used to secure the fleece to the inside of a 3-in-1 coat shell. What did that save them? 10 cents? Now when I take my coat off, I need to grab both the coat and fleece so the fleece sleeve doesn't come out of the coat. I don't get why companies make dumb design decisions like this. I won't be buying a Denali until they bring the very practical cuff loops back

When I received it from my wife, I was so glad and it looked ok on me, but later i have noticed that neck is too wide, even when I zip it to the end. All heat just goes out and also it looks like I am wearing one or two size bigger jacket, although other parts are perfectly fitting, so in combination with perfect fit except of the neck area which is huge it looks weird, so probably will wear it during hiking, in the forest, where no one sees me

I bought this and sent it back immediately after opening and inspecting. The quality is there for the most part but the lack of pit zips was a deal killer. I wasnt about to keep it because i use those quite regularly on previous denalis that i have owned. I have had a denali jacket (2 actually) since 2001. The first one was awesome, blocked wind, HAD LONG PIT ZIPS, and was generally warmer. The second one did not block wind, less warm, and had smaller pit zips. Less features at the same price point equals higher profits for the manufacturer. I really wanted to like this jacket but now its not even as nice as many cheaper alternatives. I rate it average, because thats what it is, a VERY average jacket.

This jacket is listed as having zip in compatibility. While technically this is true because the zippers are the same if you look at one in the store you'll see there are now provisions to attached the sleeves or the neck like the old version. My 3n1 is bad enough about the sleeves coming out even when they are looped/snapped in place as it is. This is a poor design or hopefully just an oversight.

Fabric pills too much on nylon. Seemed like it'd need a lint roller taken to nylon portion before wear to look presentable
