Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
These are a very lightweight hiking trekking pant. I was looking for a cheaper alternative to my Arcteryx Gamma LT pants with a few more pockets. (The Gamma LTs have only 3.) These could have been the ones except for one major glitch and one minor weakness. For the major glitch, the zipper is WAY WAY too short for a men's pant esp with a 35 inch inseam. The zipper opening is about half the length of that in my Gamma LTs. No man in the wild wants to drop his trousers to do his business, let alone in town. I have seen this short zipper phenomenon on other made in China pants from other name brand outfitters. I suspect the contract manufacturers are just putting the same zipper in both the men's and the women's pants. To the minor quibble, I would have liked 10% stretch fabric like in the Gamma LTs.

Great pants for those of us needing a longer inseam. I love the pocket options and these are extremely comfortable. As the other review noted, they are more grey than green but this is what I wanted for color so it was a nice surprise.

I put my new Rampart pants to the test immediately during two days of trail building and they stood up to bushwacking very well. We spent hours forging through thick brush and there isn't a single mark on these pants. They are very comfortable and perhaps a shade on the small side but the slight stretch of the material provides some much needed give when crouching. I also like to attach things like bear spray to my belt so the belt loops are a critical feature for me. I wish Arc'teryx would move away from integrated belts on the majority of their hiking pants as they actually decrease the pants' utility.

These pants are great for traveling. The material is extremely lightweight, breathable and dries quickly. The fit is also great. I highly recommend these pants and will buy more when they have them available in my size

I see a lot of other reviews saying these pants have been redesigned and the new design is not good. I have never had the old style, although I do have the shorts and love them, so I have nothing to compare to but I definitely give these pants 5 stars. The fit is great and they perform exactly how I expected. I am certain based on the other reviews the old design was much better but if you never had the old style you wont be disappointed.

I'm really surprised to see so many negative reviews to the version. I've had the 2017 model for a few months now, and I wouldn't change a thing about them. They are super-light and quick drying, perfectly cut for my reasonably but not excessively slim build. And I find the pockets are well chosen. I don't know what would improve them, but perhaps the old style are just different and better for a different use case. Arcteryx, if you revert to old styling please keep these under a new name!

Awesome pants, takes no room in luggage, lightweight and well fitting, these are my favourite pants for everything but very cold/windy conditions. You hardly feel you are wearing them, as they do not restrict your movement. Quick drying when getting wet in a serious shower, I have never felt a need to change them even after being subjected to a serious rainfall that penetrated both my Nodin Jacket and Rampart Pants. Pants were nearly dry after 20 minutes indoors walking in a mall. Only minor issues are that the front pocket openings are narrow and almost horizontal, making retrieving a purse difficult. Kind of theft protection I guess. Side pockets could use a zipper to secure contents, I have on a couple of occasions dropped items from these when taking the pants off.

I have had 5 pairs of these pants. Two of the original cotton version and 3 of the current version. I really liked the cotton version as it had a roomy feel to it and made a great pant for field use as I could put a logbook in the open thigh pocket on the left leg. That is now gone form that leg, and the one on the right leg is a bit smaller. I still like the new version a bit better in a sense as it is quick-dry and I am now living in the tropics where they are my go-to pant for all around use. the two thigh pockets are great for carrying my phone, wallet and passport without worry that they will fall out. I have the open thigh pocket for extra stuff and the regular hand pockets for keys, change and pocket knife.

I been wearing them mushroom hunting, lots of crawling over and under dead falls and brush. Thru light rain and snow and never had a complaint. Really didn't think about them at all.

Perfect fit for my 30" inseam/36" waist body. Superbly comfortable and breathable, in all conditions. I can wear them hiking... but they look so good, I can wear them out to dinner or to church too. This is my second pair of these (I lost weight and shrunk out of the first), and they quickly moved to the front of my closet!

Trs bon pantalon, lger, facile a entretenir. Super job! N.V

I feel obligated to post as a 36-inseam pant wearer. Obviously 35 is too short for me, but I took a gamble based on the photos that I could let out the seems and re-sew. Cut the seem and saw fabric rolled twice for up to an additional 3ish inches of leg. Re-hemmed real quick and they look stock, but fit my getaway sticks perfectly. Went with Biome color and army olive drab thread is a near perfect match. 36 inch waist fits true as far as I can tell, same as my 36 waist Levi's As far as features and comfort- absolutely no complaints. Does everything I want them to do in the backcountry. I am a bit of a minimalist and I don't like carrying things in my pockets, so the complaints I see about those don't really apply to me, but I definitely don't find them to be obtrusive in any way. I have only worn these out a few times (I wanted to throw in a tall dude review for my brethren as quickly as I could) but they seem like they will hold up fine after walking through some thorny bushes and taking some slides down loose rock and gravel, all while feeling completely non existent as I exert energy and protective as I get above tree-line and the wind picks up. Finding pants for my legs is tough, so I save my pennies for this brand when I need something. This is my third different pair of pants from Arcteryx and I continue to be extremely pleased with the products I get. It's nice that they understand that length and girth don't usually increase on people in the same ratio, which most other manufacturers don't seem to get.

This is the very first bit of Arc'teryx gear I purchased about 10 years ago cannot believe how much I've worn them. All seasons year round no problem ...in winter I put a good base under and have used snow shoeing and even for downhill skiing. They r my go-to travel pants ....I've taken them all over the world and abused them beyond belief and they still look good. They r the main reason I've bought so much more ATRX gear over the years !

Love the thigh drop pocket which is perfect for a smart phone. When I upgraded to a new smart phone I wondered how I would carry it when the weather turned warm and I didn't need a jacket. It is to big to fit comfortably in a normal front pocket and I don't like wearing it on my waist on a clip. In the drop pocket I don't even feel it. Hard to find pants with smaller waist size and good leg length. They fit perfect. Generally awesome pants.

The Rampart 35-inch inseam men's Carbide 32 by Arcteryx are the best pants that I have ever owned. I am 6'4" so mine have a 35 inch inseam. I have owned pants made by levi, Carhartts, columbia, rei, etc. and none of these compared to my Ramparts in overall durability and versatility. The Rampart pant is also much lighter and better suited than all of the aforementioned pants for hot weather. So it is definitely not a cold weather pant unless of course you are using it as a shell and wearing a layer of insulation beneath it. The Rampart Pant has six pockets; the largest of which are located on each side covering your quadriceps. So you have plenty of room for your stuff. They are also very breathable and they can be packed and folded up to a very small volume in your backpack. And man are these pants durable. Upon laying my eyes on the first pair that I ordered, I thought that the material was way too thin and therefore their vaunted durability was a hoax. But after about six weeks of bushwacking, hiking, siting on, sand digging, and scraping along karst limestone and sandstone topography they still looked as good as new after I washed them. I am a biologist and I work with California Condors. These vultures have large, strong, and sharp beaks. While handling one, late last year, I got a little careless while handling it and I got bitten right along my upper inner pant region of my left leg. My first thought was, 'there goes my Ramparts!' But as soon as I examined them I could not find any damage! Not even a mark or depression on my Ramparts. I couldn't say the same for my leg, which had a small blood blister from the bite force of the condor's beak. I was so impressed with this pant that I ordered six more. All of the other pants that I have owned would have been destroyed by what I have put my Ramparts through. These pants offer so much range of movement that I can comfortably run in them as well. They are pricey but I do not see how they could be improved.

I use my Rampart Pants for most of my walking trips. They are just so comfy. Its great they come in different leg lengths as I have got long legs. They are well made and the fit is great. I'd recommend these if you are thinking of buying. They are quite expensive but they will last a lifetime!

Great pants for many uses even the odd casual outing in the city. Great material that is light, rugged, feels good and quick to dry which is great when water is in play. It is a bit noisy as many synthetics can be. Very comfortable for three season wear. Side pockets and back pockets are great, although a more secure zip or velcro closure would be nice. Front pockets are not very useful though since they are shallow and things will fall out easily. I agree with the one reviewer that odd sizes would be advantageous. The 34 is large on me but the double button helps so if you use only one button to cinch up the waist a bit more.
