Having had pairs of gen1 and gen2 Rampart pants, I was hoping to get something similar to the Gen 1's. They've changed the material to Fortius 2 which is warmer and more importantly sweatier, than the materials from been 1 or 2. They're like baggier Gamma LT' without the belt. I'll keep them, but only to reduce the rate of wear on my old Rampart trousers. Not bad trousers, just disappointing.

Please bring back the original Rampart pants. Had several pairs of those and they were best pants I ever owned. Have two pairs of the new style and not a fan. Crotch is tighter making you need a sizer or two bigger in waist to fit. Pockets smaller. Fabric seems a little lighter making pants move / slide around you more, or maybe the fit is just bad. Single button not as good as old two button setup. NO clue why you guys would change a good thing you had in the original version.

Having discovered the Rampart trousers (=pants in USA!) and shorts for hot days in the mountains of Britain and Europe I have bought replacements as a)I loved them so much and b) my current trousers had picked up a few small tears. Virtually the only thing that remains the same is its name. The two press stud buttons are gone, With one the light fabric pulls more making it fit more poorly; the fit is less roomy and on the hot days I found the original fit much 'cooler' if that is ever the right term on those days. Next, the thigh cargo pockets have been shrunk to fit a ladies handkerchief but not much else. The originals were just right to slide a compact camera and take a compass as well as mobile phone comfortably in another pocket. No chance of that now. Bring back the original design if you wish to retain your loyal customers.

What a disappointment in this newest design. In my opinion the 2013-2014 designs was absolutely perfect. The double snap feature was very useful bring it back! Idk if these are now skinny jeans inspired or what but I don't like the fit of the new ones. The pocket layout was great and although it doesn't seem like much of a change at $100 per pair people are going to be very specific and deserve to be. Im guessing the fabric is going to be less resiliant over time. The old ones i have/had fell prey only to fire. Everything else they shrugged off. If i had to guess, i'd say the changes were made for strictly finacial gains. 1 less snap, less time to be rid of the extra pocket and the more generic fit seem to reek of penny miser tactics.

So sad that my favorite pats/shorts are gone. I have purchased many pairs of the pants and shorts over the last 10 years or so... they were my favorite. Like many athletic folks I have larger quads and this new version so tight... like wearing skinny jeans. too tight in the the quads and crotch to ever consider buying again.

PLEASE bring back the previous version. I spent weeks searching online for more pairs of the older version to no avail. I will not purchase another pair of this current model, but will gladly buy many more of the older iteration if it is brought back into production.

I had 5 pairs because they were perfect. I read the reviews on this site, but ordered anyway, not believing that Arc'teryx would make a perfect product worse. Unfortunately, I have to agree with every negative review. They don't fit any more (too tight), the material seems cheap, the one button system is not nearly as good as it used to be. Result: I returned the pants I ordered and hope that Arc'teryx will make it good.

For the same size, these are much tighter fitting than the previous design. If you are very slim then these might fit you but if you have an athletic build then they will be too tight in the thighs. Please bring back the 2014/2015 design/fit, they were my favorite active pants I have ever owned. The two button waist of the old design worked much better. Classic Rampart pants, 2015 design, released for next year, please!!!!

It's not often I'll write a review on a product but the older version on the Rampart Pants were pretty much perfect. Ok, maybe the fabric was a bit noisy but thats really nit picking. I do not understand why you changed the fit and buggered up the pockets. I have 4 pairs of the old style and I returned the new one I ordered.

You had to change the model name and price.I already have this model as trousers and shorts.I really liked the pockets (7) and the valves on them.Poet without looking he ordered another couple.But... Now the pockets on the hips are smaller, their valve is not so comfortable, the volume of pockets is reduced, the cut of pockets is also changed and more simple. The second button on the waist is also missing. Therefore, I believe that the production of this model has become simpler and therefore cheaper, in the absence of some details and simplicity of execution. That would be fair, make the price less. And name the model by a different name..

The old ramparts (last years) were louder to walk around in, and the material was a bit stiffer. The new version is softer, thinner and cut differently. I have athletic thighs and the thinner cut doesn't bother me, but the smaller ankle opening does. Makes it a pain to pull your pants down over your boot tops every time you go from sitting to standing. Loss of features on the right cargo pocket sucks too. The lack of two waist snaps is no hassle, a belt is required anyway for my line of work. great pant but not worth the price in its current state.

Why fix something that isn't broke! The previous rampart pants were perfect but the redesign fit is poor not every one that enjoys the outdoors has a slim athletic build. Shame they didn't keep the old style and bring out the new trim fit as a 2nd option.

The older version of these trousers had the best cut of all hiking trousers I have ever tried on. The new version is too tight. Moreover both versions are too noisy by far. When I go hiking, I don't want to hear myself walking, I'd like to listen to the the sounds of nature / the silence out there. That is why the material called Terra Tex is no good choice for hiking trousers, in my opinion. As an alternative I can recommend the Gamma LT Pants.

Bring back the "phone" pocket, and 2 snaps that work. This latest model is really bad.

Love my old pair. Great material, great fit, and great pockets. For whatever reason the material has been changed and feels like and sounds like cardboard. It has to be recycled plastic of some type. Very noisy when walking in them. Maybe some year you will bring out a new model which will actually be the old model. They would sell out quickly out of fear of extinction.

5 stars for the old version, 1 star for the new. I loved my single pair of version 1 pants - probably amongst my all time favorite pants - and bought another pair in version 2, which I found was a bit stiff in the fabric, but otherwise ok. Both had an excellent fit that somehow was both relaxed and trim. I've just received the newest version - 3? And it now only has one button, the excellent and smart combo "slip" pocket on the right thigh is gone, replaced by much less useful cargo pockets on both sides and finally - the fit is not nearly as good as the old version. Smaller and more restrictive than before, so I can't use the same size. Of course it'll be returned, but now I'm without a replacement for my favorite pants. :-( I'm a big fan of Arcteryx and have lots of jackets, shells etc and this is the first time I've been genuinely disappointed...

I refer to the last 3 versions of these pant as 1, 2, and three. I wear these pants everyday whether I'm just around town or hiking in the mountains etc. Of course, they're not appropriate for cold weather but on those occasions I wear a different Arcteryx product. Version 1 had an indusstuctable pair of snaps that stood up to anything I put them through. Never had a problem and never came undone. I still wear them. When version 2 came out, I bought a number of pair because of the new colors and I liked the slide pocket which i used for my iphone in everyday use. I soon came to find that the outside snap would begin to fail on every pair eventually. I wrote about this on reviews and spoke to people at the company. This was NOT the result of trying to force the wrong snaps! It was because the snap itself was inferior. When version 3 was introduced, I was told this problem was addressed. I was disappointed to find that you eliminated one snap altogether and the remaining snap is the same inferior snap on version 2. At least you could've used the earlier snap from version 1 which never fails. (I still wear them.) Pleasr keep in mind that version 2 is slightly larger in the waist than version 1 so you can't say I am buying too small. I don't like to wear a belt when hiking or backpacking. At least with version 2 there was a back-up snap. With version 3 I will be forced to wear a belt at all times. This is not up to Arcteryx standards. You've gone back to a slimmer fit in Verizon 3 which is ok but I wouldn't call them "relaxed" as they seem slightly tighter than even version 1. Also, you eliminated the slip pocket on the right and it seem slightly shallower. Again, if you choose to use just one snap, use a good one.

Die Hose ist super! Meine absolute Lieblingshose! Top Passform und schn leicht und bequem. Hierfr 4-5 Sterne! 2 Sterne!

i own 3 of the old design which I loved, I have no idea why they decided to remove the top protective flap on the back pockets, I have no confidence my wallet will won't fall out which makes them pretty much unusable. please put the flaps back on! I do like the extra pocket on the side though.

The Rampart pant earlier design was perfect. This rendition is NOT an improvement. The sizing in the waist is simply too big (unless you enjoy plumber's crack). The new pocket design is way inferior. PLEASE bring the old ones back! I promise I'll buy 4 pair in case you ever change the again!!!!
