If there were only one reason I buy Arc'teryx, it would be fit. I can't tell you exactly why, but their clothing simply fits better than any other brand I've owned. When I buy jackets from other companies, a medium is too small in the shoulders, and a large tent-like in the waist. Arc'teryx jackets in size large leave me plenty of mobility in the shoulders, plus fit me in the waist and hips while still leaving room for mid layers. This jacket is like the rest, it simply fits. The fabric is the perfect weight. It's light enough, and breathable enough for active use a cool rain, and heavy enough for a outer shell in all but the the most frigid weather. I wore it as a shell in 20 degree weather just today. While lightweight, the fabric is tough. It feels like a lightweight version of 3 layer Goretex Pro. It is far less clammy, and more durable than any other 2 layer fabric I've ever used including Gores regular Pac-Lite. It doesn't have a lot of features, which reduces both weight and cost. Usually I insist on pit-zips, but with this fabric, there aren't nearly as useful. This is one of Arc'teryx's least expensive waterproof shells, but performs just as well as the rest. It's light, but not one of those "ether light" jackets that people stuff in their pack for the occasional rain shower in the desert. That said, this one will actually keep you dry, and is still light enough to be carried. The fabric is a little stiffer than standard Goretex PAC-lite which for me is an advantage. While not as stiff as Goretex Pro, it's still stiff enough to stay off your clammy skin and allow for ventilation. It won't stuff into a little ball like other two layer fabrics, but that price is worth the superior waterproof, breathable performance.

Love this jacket as a everyday rain coat and hiking jacket. It's not a alpine jacket but it's is awesome at what it's designed for. Only complaint..... give us some color options like all the other jackets in the line up. Black, Navy, and Arbor are fine but how about adding some color ways like red; bright, blue, orange etc.

The highest quality and most versatile shell I own. Perfect over a light sweater or hoodie for spring, summer, winter or fall. The jacket and sleeve length keeps the wind out and the hood comfortably covers a beanie or cap without obstructing my view. Perfect for hiking, camping or wearing out for dinner. A great addition to my growing Arc'teryx wardrobe.

So far I am happy with this jacket. I find it keeps me dry for walks in the West Coast rain. I am going to keep it for my emergency hiking and snowshoeing shell, but likely won't use it for serious backpacking. Pit zips are a great addition.

I bought this jacket a while ago. The material is really soft and comfortable. I've got lots of compliments about the look of this jacket I got it in Arbour and it's a really nice looking colour . I'm 6'2 at 190lbs. I got this in a large. It fits good with a puffy underneath but a little more room would have been appreciated. If you wear a hoody or something light it's perfect.

I bought this jacket in Crimson Red over 2 years ago. This jacket is a lifesaver in heavy rains. I wore this recently on a snowy hike over an Arcteryx base layer and it was all I needed! The base layer kept me warm and the jacket kept me dry. When I got too warm I simply opened up my under arm venting. Awesome!!

I have had this jacket for nearly 3 years (black-small), and it still looks like new, where other brands I have used would be needed to be replaced. The N70p and C-knit Gore-tex is what makes this jacket extra special. Not only is it durable, but is a quiet and feels soft compared to the higher end Arcteryx gore-tex pro jackets. I use this jacket daily, and have used it in week long hiking trips up mountains. It has never failed me. The fit is slim, so perfect if you have an athletic build.

One or the previous reviewers said that she wouldn't buy this jacket until there are better colours available. She complained about the green specifically. I bought this jacket specifically for the green "Bushwhack" colour! I waited a year for this colour! Thank you Arcteryx for making the Earthy colours in women's line! But I agree that there could be less black and all shades of black. They are no fun.

This jacket is excellent , tested it today Hiking in Extremely wet weather , it fits well and is flattering . It didn't ride up under my rucksack and kept me dry and snug . The pockets zip down over which is a bit counter intuitive and meant I didn't use them . The hood was fine though it still tends to pop down over my eyes somewhat so you do end up looking up from under the peak . I love the colour , though not a huge choice so I alighted on the pale blue . Good price for a very technical ( but pleasantly simple) jacket .

This jacket is perfect for a hike when it's raining and/or windy. Walking in 40-50 degree weather and breezy with with just an under layer, I still felt very comfortable in this jacket. Would highly recommend.

I bought this jacket to wear on summer hiking trips to the Alps and so far so great. Reticent at first about it's lack of pit zips but I didn't miss them one but. Happily would recommend this product

Really want to give this 4.5 stars, but rounded up to 5 since the website doesn't allow fractions. This is one of the best lightweight shell jackets you can find. It can positively take a beating (both from weather and bushwhacking). It nicely strikes a balance between protection and breathability; it doesn't become as clammy as many other shell jackets that offer similar degree of weather protection. My only two complaints are both minor: 1) The packability isn't great. It doesn't collapse into its sleeve like other Arc'teryx jackets. So it can be a bit awkward to collapse down, though it's lightweight enough to squeeze into most packs. 2) Not unique to this jacket, but DWR treatment will eventually degrade. This is still a great jacket, but I just want Arc'teryx to really start investing in alternative techologies!

I predator fish in North America miles away from camp. I need a shell that is lightweight, comfortable, allows me to move freely around the boat and keep sme completely dry. I have tried the "fishing jackets" with no luck. I was hesitate on spending this amount of money on a shell, but I have not been disappointed. The first time I pulled it out of the storage compartment was in an extremely heavy summer rain. The rain pounded on me for two hours. I stayed completely dry. The rain shed straight down the goretex jacket. I highly recommend this jacket.

This jacket is replacing my beloved Arcteryx Beta jacket I've had for almost 10 years now. True to every other Arcteryx product I've owned this jacket fits great, easily packable, made well and should last me a while. The only con, and one that is my fault for not looking at the description and picture more closely, is the lack of zippered vents under the arms. Overall though, a great jacket and one I highly recommended!

I've never owned a shell jacket until now and wish I'd realised the advantages. Perfect on a warm but damp day as it breathes. Equally good in the cold supplemented by technical base layers. Small and light enough to be packed. Next to decent footwear this is a "must have" piece of kit!

This is now my all time rain jacket. It is very handy for hikes and city walks but it might be little heavy and warm for heavier activities such as running or cycling. I suggest to use norvan if you are thinking to use this jacket for sports like running.

This is really my do all rain shell. I use it for backpacking and hiking mostly on the East Coast US and it served me well in the Canadian Rockies. It is a trim fit though so not a ton of room for heavy layering. I can layer with a Kyanite fleece in cool temps but not much room for a puffy underneath. So not the best for extreme cold temps. I'm 5'10 205lbs and the Lg fits me just perfect. I also throw this in my work bag for around town in case of storm. Washes up great just like any other Arc'teryx hard shell.

I bought this jacket in mid September and haven't taken it off since! I work a job where I'm constantly getting soaked so having a quality gore-tex jacket is a bit of a must. And I'm quite happy with how this jacket has performed day in and day out so far. I was a bit nervous about the small not fitting my long arms, but was pleasantly surprised (it's always a bit of a downer when you have to size up just for the extra arm length). Definitely one of the better quality clothing purchase I've made in my life!

Best Rain Jacket I have had hands down. The new backer really does show in this piece it is softer then any other rain jacket I've seen. It's thin, light, and breathes wells. Another outstanding piece from Arc'teryx in my opinion.
