I used this bag while living in England for a year as a teacher. I used it every day to commute to work with lunch and school stuff. It does not have a built in rain cover and that's probably my only complaint. I also used it as my only bag for 3-10 day trips to continental Europe. While on holidays, it also functioned as my day pack which meant walking around sight seeing all day. Trips longer than 5 days, I had to do laundry because I was running out of clean clothes. But this bag, even stuffed full, was never questioned as a carry on item, even for the cheap airlines like Ryan Air or Easy Jet. It meant that I never had to check baggage, which saved money, time, and gave me piece of mind. I've also used this pack as a day pack at several music festivals. Fits snacks, warm clothes, blanket, etc. The straps allow you to make the bag seem very small when there isn't much stuff in it, which I love. This bag has 3 full sized separate compartments which makes it so easy to keep organized or to find things. Water bottle holders on both sides are great. Laptop holder is excellent, as the laptop doesn't go all the way to the base of the bag so it doesn't get smashed when the bag gets put down. Overall, I can't recommend this bag enough if you sound like you might be using it like I have been.

I've had this pack for almost 2 years. It is my primary travel luggage, It has lots of room, and plenty of pockets and compartments to stay organized. Fully loaded, it is still comfortable to hoist on the back, and the sternum strap is important here. It has always fit in the overhead bins on a variety of sized airplanes. I use this as carry-on and a standard Daylite as my "personal item". It has been to New Zealand and Portugal and has performed to beyond expectation over many, many miles.

I travel, weekly, with my company and I have been using this pack as my EDC for about 8 months. It is comfortable, even when carrying heavier loads. It has ample room for my travel needs, as I can fit a 15" MacBook and IPad in the lie-flat compartment, so I do not have to remove them when going through TSA security. Additionally, there is plenty of room to pack a change of clothing and toiletries for when the airlines see fit to send my checked luggage to a different destination. The admin compartment is roomy and has plenty of pockets and pouches to organize the endless items that you seem to need these days.

I needed a single backpack to carry my pc, a few files and my CPAP device. The Nebula did it all and it was an ease getting through airport security. BEST purchase I have ever made.

TSA laptop compartment is a great feature. If you travel, this is a great bag, quickly pass through security checks without removing your PC. Plenty of room and compresses down nicely once not full.

the accessory compartment needs a double zipper, without a double zipper this compartment is sheer Agony to use , items get lost and nothing is accessible directly from the top without opening the entire zipper. How could a company like Osprey have overlooked this ? osprey, please look around, most reviewers feel the same way. thank you for your time. PS....please send me a zipper slider and a zipper pull so I can have my guy that works on packs fix this.

Great as a large student bag for the serious student. The material seems robust and zippers are smooth . The only problem I have with it is the short side mesh water bottle pockets. Most people carry a 32 oz Nalgene or Hydroglask in these side pockets and I wish Osprey would take this into account and lengthen these side pockets so that they fully cover this size water bottle (please consider for some of your other styles as well, please). With these shorter pockets, my nalgene often falls out if I bend down a bit or have the backpack laying flat. Otherwise, can't go wrong with Osprey.

This could be one of the finest multipurpose packs out there. It needs a few adjustments for my needs however. There should be a 3/4 pack zipper mid pack so the pack can be layed out almost in half, each half with a 4" depth minimum. The front pocket should be a 3/4 zip and inside are organizer pockets. The hip belt is cheesy and should be enhanced for backpacking/hiking use. The water bottle holders should be stowable and not obstruct the ability for the center zip (width spec) to be fully opened so the two mid sections can be packed easily. As a CoTCCC Medic I could use that area with medical supplies in organizers. As a business traveler I could pack business clothing, dress shoes and small organizers for toiletries, etc. . As a casual traveler, I could pack the usual. As a camper, I could pack with an 8" depth theretent and other small necessities. As a hiker, well, you'd be limited only by your imagination. Plus, I could have my laptop and iPad pro with me at all times I love the rectangular design and orientation.

I travel almost weekly and the Nebula is my constant companion. It is large and has multiple pockets, but the straps allow the pack to be compressed nicely for stowing under the airline seat. The mesh pocket in the front expands and allows easy access for the odd item that you need to grab in a hurry, while the small pocket on top is well-sized for small items. I highly recommend this pack and would gladly purchase it again.

Commuting and touring motorcyclist, Traveler and day hiker. After years of serious aggressive and varied utility use, this backpack endures and delivers and still looks good. After five years, I've been so impressed with it that if I ever had to consider purchasing another backpack I would certainly buy another Osprey. I can only hope the company sticks with the formula that created this one.

This pack is an ideal size for every day carry as a commuter. I drag books and papers to and from my office daily, often with my laptop, and/or a rain shell tossed in. The organization of the pockets are excellent for sorting and separating, and there are tablet/folder sleeves in each of the two main sections. The "sun glasses pocket is a wonderful place for meds, coins, pens, cash, phone, passes, tissues and other immediate on-the-fly needs. I have flown all over with this as my carry-on bag, and it easily fits under seats and in overhead bins. I have used this in a pinch as a hiking pack or as a tourist-about-town pack, and it is okay, but not as nearly as comfortable as my Osprey day pack with its airframe suspension. Beware of the temptation to carry more than you need simply because more will fit in this all-swallowing pack. I have an older version of this pack (one with a buckle closure for the shove-pocket). The downside of the older version is that the side bottle pockets are too short, and bottles annoyingly jump out. The new version of the pack appears to have much deeper pockets AND a much nicer back panel (rigid, with air channels). The downside of the newer version is that the organization pocket lacks the wonderful zippered, internal security pocket and the pen sleeves found in the old version. Worse, the new version only has a single zipper pull for the organization pocket. That would be a HUGE inconvenience. I am hard on day packs, and even though I bought my Nebula used, and it shows abrasion wear, I expect to get several more years of use from it. If you do not carry a laptop, you can use the laptop sleeve to hold a hydration bag; there is a pass-through for the hose (this is thoughtfully covered to keep rain out). And the carry handle is broad and well-padded, unlike the painfully thin handles that one often finds on day bags.

I bought this bag in 2017, and it's awesome! I used it for a few years as my commuter bag to take the train to work with my computer, gym clothes, night school books, etc. It handled everything. It's also just big enough for weekend trips as a carry-on bag when traveling light. In 2019 I went solo traveling abroad, and I just couldn't leave my Nebula at home. I strapped it to the outside of my Aether 70, and to my surprise, it worked!!! I traveled the world and used my Nebula as my day bag when I could leave my large bag in a safe location. It was perfect. It has room for water bottles, it expands to fit extra gear, and collapses when empty for storage. It's very versatile. One con is that it started to wear away through the fabric on the inner back side near my belt. It still works, but it looks weird like it has been sanded down. I definitely recommend the 2017 version, not sure what has been updated, but I wouldn't change much.

This is the best backpack I've ever owned. I've had it for about 6 months now. It's been all over the country with me and there to serve my every need. Fits my MacBook perfectly, and my 1 gallon yeti, along with everything else I need. I'll be an osprey customer for life.

I'm in my final year of an intense grad program and this backpack goes everywhere with me. This pack nails it on all levels. I've always used Osprey packs. Still, this is an upgrade. Tons of room and keeps me super organized while keeping the weight balanced. Also protects my MacBook. I had a hard time finding pics while in my search, so I'm attaching some here. For previous Osprey owners: they finally fixed the flaw and added side pockets for water bottles and umbrellas. Storage is as follows: -Open front pocket for rain jacket or whatever. There is a clip for a bike light. -Behind that is a huge pocket for accessories, complete with a clip for air pods and keys. Also has 3 divided pockets for other essentials. In my pic, you can't see the stuff that is down in the bottom: there is a large wallet, a pencil case, and a pouch, with a ton of room to go. -Next section is the book/main part. The textbook and binder you see are no joke, and it would still fit more. In the smaller, front-sided internal pocket I keep my MacBook charger. In the rear, slip pocket I keep my MacBook stand. -Final/rear section keeps my MacBook protected (The year before this version they were flimsy this version's is solid. Mine feels protected.). In the pocket opposite of the laptop sleeve I keep a keyboard. This section unfolds to be completely flat for easier TSA screening/airports. -Straps along the side adjust to make the pack as compact as possible. This pack will get me though school, with a lifetime's use for later travel- I could easily pack a week's worth of clothing & toiletries. I'm 5'7"/130/F and was worried about how this men's back would work for me in terms of carrying book weight. It isn't a problem. Solid construction. Osprey meets all of my needs with this one.

I use the nebula for work for the past month. It's with me 12-16 hrs a day and is loaded to carry a day and half worth of my work load and work laptop. I work security so I needed something both rugged and easily seen in a office setting. Even in Cyprus green, the bag blends well. Its so big I could pack a weekend trip in it. Pros Thin but though material Big zipper and pulls Solid synch down Fantastic organization Cons The buckles could be better The waist strap could have a tuck away feature The shoulder straps dont load adjust The front stash pocket would be better served as a beaver tail. You cant fit much in it once the bag is loaded out I'm not worried about quality or bag failure. If I can throw this bag around and carry it all day, this bag will be fine or more casual use. I'm very pleased I switched over and if you can get this on sale, it's more than worth it

I use the Nebula as a briefcase, camera bag and a day pack when traveling. Although I don't push the pack to the limits it was designed for, It works great for what I need it to do. Before the Nebula, I required a couple of bags, and none lasted more than a year at most.

Like anyone, I researched many backpacks before deciding that this was the one for me. This is my everyday bag for commuting to work and my go to bag for casual outings. The cypress green looks great. I think the admin section is a bit lacking with only three basic slip pockets..more pockets and organization would be nice here, but the bag is still highly functional and has a great capacity for every carry.

I use this backpack as EDC bag for the office. I like the mesh front pocket for quick access to my badge or another small item. The quick access pocket holds mt wallet, phone and keys. I read several reviews that people do not like that the pencil slots have been removed in this 2019 version. I do not mind at all because I use a flat pouch for electronic equipment as pen/pencil case. The magazine pocket is great for office documents. The padding in the laptop compartment is well manufactured and on the other side in a additional padded section for a kindle or tablet. The back panel has mesh material on it and I do not have a sweaty back from carrying this bag. The zippers are YKK and sturdy. I do not like that the admin section has only 1-way zippers and not 2-way ones. Furthermore, the compression straps have to be unbuckled to get to the admin section. It is not a deal breaker but could be seen as annoying. The shoulder straps' padding might be a little more dense.

I absolutely love this pack. I can always get everything I need into it. I used this for 3 years of heavy college use, have taken it on day hikes, weekend trips and now use it as my office bag. It has taken 5 years of my abuse and is still going strong. The main zipper opens wide enough to make packing clothes easy, but doesn't leave too much space so that text books slosh around. Overall I love it.

This is quite a great pack. I used this while I was traveling over 7 months as my personal bag. It has a lot of room and separate compartments to carry all that you need. I was able to carry a 15" Mac computer, charger, Mavic Pro Drone, medium sized jacket that I rolled up and stuffed on the bottom, along with a kindle and other nick-naks needed while on the road. It was very sturdy and comfortable wear. It has been the best bag I have for day to day use and to carry my computer between locations. Have always been a fan of Osprey gear and will look at adding to the collection.
