Overall I love this bag. I use it for just about everything. I use it in the rain where the small water resistant pouch has yet to allow any water in where I keep sensitive items. It's comfortable with heavy loads. I've put this bag to the test with hiking, school and even a GORUCK Tough event. The only issue I've had with this bag is over time the side pouches for holding water bottles have developed holes allowing water bottles to no longer be retained there. (by over time I do mean years before this ever became an issue.)

Couldn't be happier with this backpack. It's everything I was looking for and more. Will be using it primarily for travel and to keep my everyday carry items organized. Great pack for the urban environment, but big enough and comfortable enough for day hikes.

I purchased a Quantum Real Red O/S five years ago. The side bottle holders ripped and I contacted Osprey to see if they would stand by this product. They sent me a brand new Nebula, and I am amazed at the quality of this product. Osprey stands behind the packs they produce with a warranty that is amazing. Osprey is the BEST!

I mainly use the pack for school. It has a padded laptop sleeve that I can trust to keep my laptop safe and snug while I walk around campus. It has plenty of storage and compartments to keep my belongings secure. There are two sleeves, one that is padded (which I use for my laptop) and one that is just a thin sheet in the main pocket (which I use for a folder and notebook). I keep a change of clothes (as I often go immediately from work to class) in the main compartment, and keep my chargers and pens/pencils/snacks in the other pockets. The side pockets are huge and can stretch to a great amount so it is no trouble to fit a 32oz Nalgene or Hydroflask in it. I put a carabiner on the pack's side clip and connected it to my Hydroflask as an extra precaution in case it falls while I bend down to pick something up. Not any fault of the bag's, just gravity doing it's job. I love the mesh pouch on the back, because I can easily put a jacket or hat into it for easy access.
I love the pack when traveling, too. It fits perfectly under a seat as my "personal item" (not carry-on) and has plenty of storage for whatever I may need during the flight.
Ultimately, the pack has plenty of storage and a variety of uses. The warranty that Osprey offers on all their packs is great. If you need a backpack that is versatile and reliable, look no further than Osprey's Nebula.

I have had this bag for about a year and a half and it still looks brand new. Well built and well thought out bag. The zippers open up nice a big giving lots of access. The double zippers allow access without having the entire opening unzipped. The side pockets are tucked away for streamline profile and offer easy access to charge cords or a snack bar. The bag works well if half full or fully loaded. Its an ideal size for a weekend trip. I can fit two large pack cubes in the main compartment with a small one on top. As long as the main compartment isn't over packed, the other compartments remain easily accessible and useable.
In the spirit of continual improvement, one minor issue I found is the zipper pulls on the big zipper can pull out from under the clip of the zipper head...pretty minor though

The Nebula is a great choice if you're looking for a large day-to-day backpack that can take care of gear for commuting or hiking. My previous college backpack was around 28L and it was just annoyingly too small to handle all the gear I like to have onboard. My work environment changes daily, so I have a top-roller dry backpack/stuff sack for field work offshore. In the Nebula, I got a slightly more compartmentalized pack for daily use and weekend trips that was big enough to carry everything I'd need.
One review on the Nebula said that it falls short because it doesn't quite know what it is, a reference to the lack of interior organization. That to me is its biggest strength. I have stuff sacks and smaller bags to organize my gear so I can easily transfer these items between packs without having to dig through a bunch of smaller compartments. The main (middle zipper) and front compartment hold all of these easily. The two small lined pockets (exterior and main compartment interior) are perfect for small items that stay with the bag (phone charger, small BT earbuds, compass, etc.) and quick access transient items like sunglasses. The front mesh stretch pocket is great for things like hats or buffs, and the side pocket can handle a decent sized water bottle around 3 inches diameter. Finally, the laptop compartment is massive! In addition to a standard size 17" laptop, you can get a hydration bladder (and yes there is a hose port on the top), notebooks, books, or another tablet.
My only real Con is that the compression straps hinder the zippers, so to fully unzip the compartments, you have to go around the straps or detach them completely.
Just FYI, a daily gear list - 17" laptop and charger; 2L hydration bladder; small BT speaker; electronics bag with large headphones, external HD, cables, etc.; packable rain jacket; small cooler bag; 4 stuff sacks of varying sizes that carry office supplies, first aid kit, hiking stuff, etc.; water bottle, hat, buff,

I have a 3 year old nebula that has a blown out zipper because I habitually overstuff the laptop compartment. The zippers are also sticky from many, many days at the beach. I will send it in for repairs, but I didn't want to be without my beloved Nebula for day to day use, so I bought another.
I don't normally like orange, but the orange color looks amazing in person and the blue contrasts are also very eye-pleasing.
The straps are SOFT now unlike the ones on my older nebula. Easy to wear with a tanktop or shirtless. The side pockets are deeper which is a great change.
There are 2 changes from my old bag that I don't like though.
1. The zipper on the outer compartment is one way instead of two-way. I far, far prefer having 2 zippers on that compartment which I access a lot.
2. Inside of that compartment there used to be an inner zipper pocket which has been deleted, along with some pen holders. That one isn't really a big deal, but I do miss that pocket sometimes.
All in all, this is a fantastic bag and it will hold a BIG laptop securely, plus zip wide open to show it when going through airport security. But it's also fantastic for day to day use, including beach days. Water bottles go in the laptop area, towels, clothes, etc go in the middle spot with room to spare, and small items go in the outer pocket. Great every day bag.

This thing is great for hucking all your personal & important stuff on field measurements - the stuff you won't trust to the road cases. Separate compartments for your laptop & paperwork, your spare clothes, and all the other random junk. The amount of organization is ridiculous, but makes it easy to quickly reach your phone, shades, sharpie, or memory cards. I love the mesh stash-pocket in the front, especially when it's time to hop to the next site.
On the next model, I'd like to see a more elegant way to tuck all the straps when you're not using them. Now, they just hang out, waiting to get caught. Or the clip of the mostly-useless waist strap digs into your back. I'd also like more contouring on the straps and some ventilation on the back panel.
But overall, it's got the size, organization, and durability I need.

This could be one of the finest multipurpose packs out there. It needs a few adjustments for my needs however. There should be a 3/4 pack zipper mid pack so the pack can be layed out almost in half, each half with a 4" depth minimum. The front pocket should be a 3/4 zip and inside are organizer pockets. The hip belt is cheesy and should be enhanced for backpacking/hiking use. The water bottle holders should be stowable and not obstruct the ability for the center zip (width spec) to be fully opened so the two mid sections can be packed easily. As a CoTCCC Medic I could use that area with medical supplies in organizers. As a business traveler I could pack business clothing, dress shoes and small organizers for toiletries, etc. . As a casual traveler, I could pack the usual. As a camper, I could pack with an 8" depth there-tent and other small necessities. As a hiker, well, you'd be limited only by your imagination. Plus, I could have my laptop and iPad pro with me at all times I love the rectangular design and orientation.

Some girls like purses, I'm a backpack addict. I picked up this pack for commuting/work. The dedicated laptop compartment with space for files is great and lets me shove my climbing gear into the main compartment for post work decompression. On a recent trip home to WA, I didn't bring a pack for day backcountry touring - just my 70L pack for a multiday tour. I emptied out my Nebula and found the very front pocket fit my avy gear, the main compartment swallowed my extra layers, water, and food. 2 problems: 1) the back has no real frame support so the pack deforms rapidly with soft goods and 2) the water bottle pockets could not handle being dragged around in the snow a bit which I found to be absurd. No heavy abuse and there was nothing in the pockets, they just snagged on the snow and tore. I have had issues with the pack not holding its shape day to day as well, but found it particularly annoying while skiing. The pack can do it, but if it is to be billed as a 24/7 pack, a more supportive back panel would be great. Overall, I'm happy with the pack and use it every day for work. In a pinch, it works for the trail too.

1 week use, lightweight bag with many compartemen. Big storage, best for any activity.
The height very long, better choose other model if you are not tall enough, feels to big for me because of the height.
Will update after a month use...

This company makes great products. I bought this bag for two family members.....our only complaint is that there is not a padded waist band....just a flimsy strap. Not good on long day hikes. It is good for general day use though. Also my water bottle always falls out so I keep it inside of the pack. I love the external stretchy back pocket. So handy. I wish I could retrofit it to have a padded band, then it would be perfect.

I honestly really enjoy my bag, I am a nursing student and needed to up the size as my NorthFace Prewitt bag wasn't cutting it. The only negative on the bag is I can see some of the inner seams unraveling as well as the Logo is coming off! Keeping in mind I've only had it for less that 3 months.. Other than that great bag

I got the umber orange for myself. It's definitely a good looking pack, standout in the crowd, and make your friends jealous. The 34 liter space is more than enough to carry stuffs in most scenarios. However, having a 34L backpack meaning you will carry a lot of stuffs and weight. I bought this pack to serve my business trip. During a business trip, I usually carry a 13 inch laptop, 10 inch tablet, mirrorless camera (with 3 lenses), a jacket, phone+powerbank, and other accesories. Everything can be nicely organized in this nebula pack. Unfortunately, the back system is not the most comfortable for the job, and I think that's the case for the Osprey's 24/7 series. I also found, 34L still too much for my needs, and I might switch to smaller pack (28L). This is my second attemp to love the 24/7 series (I previously had Quasar), but I think I'll look somewhere else. However, all of my hiking packs are still osprey and I love them all.

This pack and I went everywhere together for a couple years. Including several long plane trips. It makes a great carry on bag and is very roomy. I loved my old Nebula, but knew it could use some improvements. I saw the new version and ordered it. At first I was very happy to see the new back panel to increase airflow and comfort. That was an issue with the older model I had. With the old smoother foam back panel I would be drenched in sweat if I went on a short walking adventure. The new back panel is an excellent improvement. However, I am an organization freak and was very disappointed with the new admin pocket. It has less organization, less pockets and dividers. I had to add a second admin pouch to fulfil my needs. There is also only one zipper on this pocket now. That really bugs me sometimes. Overall I still use this bag. If they could just combine the new back panel with the older admin design it would really shine. I would also love to see some optional compression straps on the bottom of the pack. When you add any weighted items to the pack they make the bottom sag down quite noticibly, if it isn't full. I would actually say if you catch these on end of season sale its one of the best values out there for a good sized commuter pack.

Overall, this bag is comfortable and light. It offers a few compartments. The side zip pockets for water bottles only work for small containers. I would not buy this bag again.

Kudos to Osprey for replacing my old version of this pack with a new one when the old one failed in one small area! I love Osprey and their commitment to their products and customers! I've noticed a couple of improvements in the new version:
1. The material below the back panel (the part against your back) is more robust and should not fail the same way my old one did. Awesome!
2. There is added rigidity in the back panel that keeps my laptop off the ground (in the old version, the sleeve would sag down and rest on the floor). This has saved some wear on my laptop.
A couple of gripes:
1. Fewer organization options in the organization pocket (not a huge deal for me).
2. !!!!ONLY ONE SLIDER ON THE ORGANIZATION POCKET ZIPPER!!!! This drives me NUTS! For me, the organization pocket is the most frequently used and is easily the most difficult to open/close. It's especially annoying if I have the compression straps attached - you have to move the slider under a strap or undo the strap to get to the contents. The only reason I can imagine this change was done is that maybe the sliders were opening inadvertently before? No idea. At least before, if someone wanted the sliders all the way to one side of the zipper, they could do that. Now everyone needs to zip clear to the side if they want to close it. Shouldn't be a huge deal and I probably wouldn't even notice if I weren't spoiled and used to the previous version.
I'm considering taking it to a gear repair place and asking them to add a slider.
I hope Osprey considers at least adding another slider soon. I'd probably purchase another one just for that.

As mentioned above, my pack was stolen and I was dissapointed when I went to pick up a replacement. How did you make this pack worse Osprey?! Give back the organization slots. I would not buy this version knowing what the old version was!

I recently had a beloved, 4-year-old Nebula stolen. It was an amazing pack for work, travel, and even the occasional hike. It was spacious, well thought out, durable, light, compressible, and even a little stylish. Without hesitation, I ordered a replacement, but I was disappointed to learn that some of the stuff I liked best about my old one had been taken away! The first difference is that the new version has about half as many slots and pouches in the organizer compartment. The second is that the same compartment only has one zipper pull instead of two. And the third difference is that the material feels slightly thinner (i.e. cheaper). This felt to me like cutting a few corners to save a tiny amount of money, and that's not what I've come to expect from Osprey through the years. I was fortunate to find the old version being sold on a hard-to-find corner of a massive online retailer whose name rhymes the whamazon. Needless to say, I bought two.

This backpack is great, has tons of space and is super light. Everything is of the highest quality except for one major thing - back support. The back padding is absolutely minimal and has zero lumbar support. It literally feels like a board. As such, the pack will tend to slide back/forth as you walk and you will tend to feel things in the pack pressing on your back. This makes it extremely uncomfortable when the load is asymmetrical. The other minor nit pick is if you remove the waist strap, the remaining loop fabric will rub against your side. If you are looking to use this as a daily commuter, I would look elsewhere.
I wish I could return and exchange for another Osprey pack.

The Nebula has one bad flaw and one awful flaw. Amazingly these flaws interact with each other to create a fatal flaw. The bad flaw is that, unlike every other major compartment on any other day pack in the universe (including the other compartments on the nebula itself), the outer compartment has only one zipper pull. This means that you have to completely unzip it to open the compartment, and completely zip it to close it. You can't position both pulls at the top of the compartment and unzip it partially. This is one of the dumbest flaws imaginable insofar as it will be unspeakably easy to correct.
It's a great backpack and other respects. But that's like saying you've a great car that has square wheels.

This pack has plenty of good features, and I like the size. But it has two fatal flaws that, amazingly, cause the same problem. In combination, they make the pack unusable.
1. The large outer compartment, inexplicably, has only one zipper pull. That means that you can open and close it in only one direction. You have to reach all the way down the side of the pack to open it, and you have to slide the zipper pull all the way back down the side of the pack to close it. This is stupid and annoying given that literally every other pack in the world includes two pulls on its major compartments. And this is likely to be the most heavily used compartment.
2. The upper tension straps cross over the opening to the very same compartment and interfere with the travel of the zipper. You literally have to unclasp the tension strap in order to operate the zipper. Again, this is on the compartment that is likely to be the most heavily used. This would be annoying under any circumstances, but it's especially annoying when there's only one zipper pull. With two pulls, they could meet at the top and wouldn't always have to cross over the offending tension straps.
Both of these problems are easily fixable. If I was teaching an introductory design class, this pack would get an F.
Annoyed,

Too compartmentalized, which severely compromises its ability to pack any significant bulky stuff. It proved inadequate and insufficient for travelling, even on a 3-day train journey.
Might be useful for an office worker or student applications.
