So Merrell read my mind with this shoe. I like to walk technical trails and have been wearing a pair of Siren Sport waterproof shoes in what I can only guess was a half size too small. A recent hiking trip with my 9 year old daughter during which she floated over difficult terrain like a fairy in her Keen sandals while her mother in hiking shoes had to actually bend down and use hands convinced me that my hikers had to go. Tons of searching later and I found these: they are agile, grippy, and have excellent terrain feel (not too little and not too much). If you are not a long distance hiker (I can easily do 5 miles in these) and want something light weight and comfortable, these are it. They are actually way cute too -- great colors, want to wear them all the time. I typically wear a size 9 shoe, size 9.5 in sneakers. My waterproof sirens were too small in 9.5, but the Blaze fits perfectly in 9.5. These are honestly perfect shoes. I don't typically write reviews, but I was so tortured by this shoe search that I had to share. Zappos, as always, was top notch!

I love these shoes! I bought these a few months ago when I won a permit to climb Half Dome in Yosemite and was in need of a good pair of hiking shoes. I've worn these out on numerous hikes so far, and have zero complaints. There was a short break-in period during my first hike on one foot; however, that may have been my fault due to not ensuring my foot was all the way back when tying the laces. From the start these shoes felt at one with my feet, but now after many hikes together, these shoes and my feet are practically the same being. They grip really well, I've taken them on granite slabs, volcanic cinders, gravel, wet rocks in a creek and mud, and they've worked great in every situation. The laces stay laced, don't even need to double knot them, they even look good when dirty because of their coloring. I wasn't sure if I should get these or the mid-ankle version but having fairly strong ankles I'm really glad I chose these because on crazy terrain they allow my ankles to move freely and do their job without interference from a shoe. I ordered these in a women's 8 and 8.5 to ensure the best fit. I'm almost always an 8 in shoes, and indeed the 8 was the perfect fit. 8.5 didn't hug my foot right and a 7.5 my toes would've touched the ends. I can't say enough good things about these shoes. I was searching for a non-dorky looking pair of hiking shoes (I looked at tons of shoes before settling on these), and with my Half Dome trip just about here I have high confidence that these will serve me well.

I have had these shoes for about two months and I am both disappointed and completely in love with them. I work in a grooming salon bathing dogs and the waterproofing on these shoes leaves a bit to be desired. If you walk in damp grass, they are fine. But any continuous falling water soaks right in (honestly, it drains down the tongue and gets in the crack at the bottom-major design flaw!). I guess my version of "waterproof" may be a bit unrealistic, but don't expect these to hold up to crazy use and keep out high volumes of water. I am, however, in love with the comfort and fit. I have had two knee surgeries and these provide the support and comfort I need for my knees. The toe on the left shoe has started to peel off, but considering I wear this for 8+ hours each day in a hard environment, I can't really say it is a flaw. I just super-glued it back on to keep it from peeling farther, and am fine with needing to do that. Two months of continuous wear in a killer environment allows for some wear and tear! This all being said, I would hands-down purchase another pair as every-day sneakers/hiking shoes, but not for work. (I am about to spray them down with silicone water-proofing spray in hopes of extending their work-life. They're too pricey to replace after two months!)

These shoes are deceiving. The appear to be a heavy rugged trail walker but they are as light as a feather. Good arch support and after a quick 1 mile walk I could not believe that I didn't have a start of a "new shoe" blister.

Definitely order a half size bigger than you normally would. These felt pretty narrow, and they have a lot of arch support. I have very flat feet and these were not going to be comfortable very long.

This is a stylish, sturdy hiking shoe with plenty of toe room. Although I have many pairs of Merrell shoes that work well for me, this one does not. It has an unusually high arch support that falls too close to my heel and digs painfully into the instep. I wouldn't recommend this shoe for anyone with low/flexible arches.

I want to keep this shoe. I love the way this shoe looks. I do not love the way this shoe feels on my foot. I had to send these shoes back because I wore them around the house for 5 minutes and the insole of the shoe is so hard and the arch is so high that I couldn't bear to keep them on. I don't have particularly flat feet, but the arches in these shoes were so high that they hurt. As far as I'm concerned, these are the best looking hikers out there. But I can't stand to walk five feet in them.

So let me start off my saying that I have been a Zappos customer for over 10 years, and have always been satisfied with their service. Well, they did not disappoint this time around either, when I accidentally received a different make & model shoe in the wrong size (Alegria shoe). So of course, as is their policy, exchanging was a breeze. But it was even more amazing when I selected the allout blaze as a replacement shoe, at a higher price, and they did the exchange evenly, and covered the difference in cost for me. Now that, folks, is what I call amazing customer service! I love this shoe! I plan to use them for riding my mountain bike, and know that the traction and flexibility of the shoe will be great. The charcoal moss is a sweet color combination, with a deep olive, off set by the lime. Love them! Keep up the great work Zappos!

Bought these in the plum color and couldn't be happier with the colors and style. I wear an 8 and the 8 felt good. The arch support is much more than I'm used to so my feet were a little bit sore at the end of the day. I'll break them in though or I'll get used to it. Other than that, I love them. Roomy toe area, nice footbed cushion (no inserts so you have a little more of a grounded feel yet protected and cush). I love the lower heel to toe drop, and super cute! Makes my feet look tiny! I'll buy them again.

I bought these for a recent trip to Scotland at the advice of my husband "to get a pair of good waterproof hiking shoes." The day we hiked the Isle of Skye to see the fairy pools was the real test to these shoes. It rained like crazy and the ground was puddled but these shoes never let me slip or slide and they kept my feet dry from the bottom up. I say "bottom up" because it rained so hard that eventually the rain wicked down from top of my socks into my shoes! Good news was that they dried within a day and there was no odor. Even though the shoe is very light weight for a hiker, a downfall is there is very little padding. However, there is good arch support and they did seem to soften up a bit with each wear. Yes, I am glad I purchased these shoes. They performed as I had hoped.

I love these shoes! Just a little color to make them interesting and they are so comfortable. I walked all over Europe. No break in time period. They are ready to enjoy, right out of the box! I need wide shoes, so I purchased these a size larger to add gel inserts.

With large feet, it's very difficult to find shoes that fit right. This is especially true when looking for anything specific. After a long search, I bought these. I've been wearing them for two and a half years so far and they're fantastic!

Not much of a fashion statement but they are great walking/hiking shoes. Thick soles for rough terrain. Great toe box. Comfortable all day. I usually wear 9.5 and they are true to size.

I ordered two pair of Merrell waterproof hiking shoes one 11 oz. and the other 15 oz. No comparison!! The lighter Allot Blaze feel like air, the 2nd like a lump of cement. Plus the Blaze fit well - can cinch up to my narrower foot yet long enough NOT to bump top of big toes when walking downhill. The arch support is very comfortable. I wore them to hike hills on day 1. They gripped well and fit snugly - no blisters after 4 days plus cute - black with nice cornflower blue trim as if one is seeking cute hiking shoes, but they are attractive. Hard to imagine the 4 oz making a huge difference BUT headed to SE Asia and limited on weight to carry. They work well for me - I'm quite pleased!

I love these shoes. I like the way they look and feel. I am on my 3rd pair now. The first pair I bought 7.5 and size felt fine. Bought my second pair and 7.5 was too small. I exchanged for size 8 and they felt better. Light weight and very comfortable. I use them gardening, unfortunately, they are not water resistant and they get a little beat up looking after a season of wearing them everyday.

I am not sure why Merrell does not make shoes in size 11.5. If they did, these would have been perfect. I ordered a size 12 in another style from another co. but, they were too big.

I wear an 8 and at first ordered an 8.5 based on the fact that my Merrell Siren Sports were way too small in size 8. It was crushing to hike in those shoes. The 8.5 Allout Blaze was true to size and was too big for me. It didn't bend at the toes where a proper-fitting shoe would bend. I ordered an 8 and they are perfect, true to size, and there is plenty of width, but not too wide. There must have been something wrong with the sizing of the old Siren Sports, I saw that someone else commented on the same problem.
The Allout Blaze is fantastic, lightweight with a nice mid-arch support. It is good fitting shoes. I can go all day in these and not feel like I am desperate to take my shoes off at the end of the day.

These are the best shoes ever! I bought a pair in purple (at a local shoe store ) about a year ago. I put them on in the store and have worn them many days since with great pleasure. I was so happy these were available at Zappos in another color (Merrell did not have any color in my size - neither did the store where I got the last pair.) Now I have another pair for an upcoming trip. The original ones are pretty gross - but I can still wear them outside.

These are light, very good looking, and very comfortable. I am so sad to return there great shoes as they are exactly what I was looking for. My right bunion hits the lace and seam so it is uncomfortable. That is a bummer.

They run a bit small but once I went up a size I was thrilled. So light weight (important for travel) and comfortable. My feet get hot when I hike but not in these. They are great. Well-worth the money!

Bought these for hiking on a vacation. I wanted something that would travel well (not a big boot) but have support and comfort. These were great, even went into some pretty wet places and stayed pretty dry. Great arch support, we hiked 4-5 hours a day and my feet felt great. My husband got the male version and he is a big guy, hard on shoes and said they were fantastic.

Very supportive yet very light shoe in a pretty color. Be careful on the sizing. There is a support built into the shoe right behind the outer ball of the foot - the big bump on the toe side. If you size too small, it will be very uncomfortable. Sized correctly, this shoe is very comfortable. More support than the Allout Rush model.

I've been looking for a good hiking shoe that doesn't allow my feet to get soaked by the damp grass. I finally found an awesome pair in these Merrells. I already had a pair of Merrell Barefoot shoes, and I love them. However, they are great for summer, not for wet or colder weather. When I purchased my Merrell Allout Blaze hiking shoes, they felt great right out of the box. I wore them all day and didn't even feel any pinching or rub spots. They are light, comfortable, and don't look like clunky. I wear a size 8.5-9, and they are true to size. I highly recommend these shoes for everyone. I teach high school and am on my feet all day, plus I walk at least three miles every day. These are perfect shoes!

Just loved these shoes. I purchased them to go hiking in Sedona. I loved the light weight feel of the shoes and the arch support.
I was a little taken back by the high price of the shoe when I first got them but after wearing them the seemed to be worth the price.

Every year I buy a pair of waterproof Merrells to get me through the muck of soccer season, vacation hiking, etc. This year's is the most comfortable (and light-weight) yet, and they are by far my favorite shoes.
