I was not sure about this particular model of Merrell shoes but am pleased with my purchase. I have already hiked many miles in them through mud. Brand new out of the box they are very slippery on wet wood such as a deck or tree roots but after wearing them for a few hikes they are fine. They seemed to have a hard inner layer but I can feel the cushion working perfectly when I hike. They do work the ham strings. I wear anywhere between and 8 and 8 1/2 and can wear these with heavy wool socks with no problem. They fit me well.

The most comfortable shoes I have ever worn! I'm working a seasonal job at a do-it-yourself store that requires me to be on my feet for 8 to 10 hours a day. The floor is concrete. I also have to climb really tall ladders so I needed something flexible as well as cushy. I found both in these all out blaze hiking shoes. Also, the darker color is perfect for working around potting soil and water. Will definitely buy another pair when I wear these out!

These are part of Merrell's barefoot line. I do not think it says that anywhere in the review though. Keep that in mind when ordering. I wanted a shoe that I could wear while walking with my four year old on trails and around town. These are definitely it. They are extremely comfortable. As stated before, they are "barefoot," so you will work your muscles differently while walking and could experience a little soreness at first. My calves burned after an easy four mile trek, but I was expecting that. My only complaint about them is that my feet get a little warm while wearing them. My feet are a little wide, so I ordered a half size up and they worked great.

Finally, a pair of hiking shoes I can wear on a hike without foot pain. I have very sensitive feet with neuromas. I also have squarish, wide toes, narrow heals and smallish feet. I used to wear Keen's but they have "new-and-improved" their fit so I can no longer wear them. These shoes are wonderful and very comfortable. I wore them on a short less than 4 mile hike right out of the box and my feet were happy when I was done. I bought my usual size and they fit perfectly even with my hiking socks. I'm buying another pair just in case they stop making them.

So hard to find a hiking shoe that is comfy and feminine. I really liked the style of this shoe and the pink touches kept it from looking too masculine. I ordered several hikers and almost all the rest looked like shoes my husband would wear! Great all-around support on my foot, and it has fantastic grip on the bottom. They do run small, so order a half size larger than normal. Flat-footers take note: it does have a high arch to give more support while hiking, but I imagine it could be uncomfortable if your foot's not built that way.

I agree with other reviewers, the arch is quite pronounced on this shoe, and pretty far back (close to heel). This works well for me. I have a narrow heel and wide toes. My only qualm is the shape of the toes is not quite right for me, and I had to buy a half size up, to give my pinkie enough wiggle room. I now have way too much room for my big toe, since that is where the shoe is the longest. If you have a long big toe, this will work for you. The shoes are rugged but light-weight so I am keeping them.

I like the way these shoes look and I wear them only to work (hospital). I am on my feet a lot and they have a pretty high arch and that is what I need. I usually by inserts to give me the high arch, but they are not needed in these. I bought them more for hiking, but I find the soles too thin. You can feel every rock, etc. Not a hiking shoe in my opinion. I still like them, and they are good for work, but I do not recommend for outdoors unless you want to feel everything you step on.

I really like these shoes. I have narrow feet, but the medium width is not too wide. They really hug your feet when you lace them snugly. They grip well and are overall comfortable to wear. A couple of things are that the first couple of wears they were stiff, but not terribly so. They are also not as cushy as they could be, but again it was not enough to be a problem. I would buy these again for the way they fit my foot and I could recommend them to someone else unless they wanted a lot of cushion. I did like them overall and I liked how they made my size 10 shoe look smaller.

Great shoes. Comfy and cute. Nice for light hiking, but low cut means there isn't much ankle stability. Arch support is adequate.

These shoes are a good balance between heavier hiking shoes and lightweight trail shoes. Due to a manufacture defect, I was getting a blister on the side of my big toe. Unfortunately since the insole is not removable it took me a long time to find the ripple in the insole what was causing the problem. Good shoes but check the insole for any ripples before using on a long hike.

These shoes are perfect for mildly wet conditions (ie, walking through wet grass and light rain), but are not fully water proof in heavy rain. I bought these shoes for my wife who walks dogs through wet grass on a regular basis, and she said they are perfect for that purpose. However, when she wore them during a heavy downpour, her socks were soaked within minutes. Really great, comfortable shoes - just don't expect 100% water proofing in heavy rains.

I love Merrell tennies. These are really a pretty color. I would have given them a 5 star review on everything if they were as comfortable as my old Merrell tennies. When I say old, I mean really old, had them a long time and still wear them but I wanted a newer shoe and in darker colors for a trip I am making. The old tennies have more padding around the heel and toe than these new ones. I miss that. In fact, I am taking one of my old pair with me on this trip just in case I need a backup for these new ones.

My first impression is that they are comfortable but I've not walked a distance in them yet. Most times I wear a size 9 but in this case, I needed a 9.5. The shoelaces could be a little longer. Otherwise, they feel comfortable and the colors are nice.

Meh. They don't really seem to be waterproof. I find the footbed to be a little odd... feels like it settles back towards the heel. Put my own inserts into the shoes and that helped a bit. I've been wearing Merrell's for years and this one just doesn't have the comfort I'm used to.

These were really comfortable to me when I wore them around the house. I'm a gal who is not that familiar with my arches, which seems to be a big topic in these reviews. I can say the arch area felt raised, but I liked how it felt. The toe box felt wide and gave good room for my bunions. On flat ground, everything was great. When I actually hike in them, my second toe hits the front of the shoe and it's pretty annoying. I will probably put some kind of cushioning in the shoe, but I recommend trying them on different surfaces before dropping so much money.

Great looking shoe...I was so excited when I saw them but the shoes hurt my feet. Minimal arch support, I could not remove the insoles to replace with more comfortable options. Sadly I sent them back.

Looks good, feels good, but offers little protection from the elements if you are on trails with rocky terrain. Serves as a beginner shoe for walking on more even surfaces.

I've noted these as having excellent arch support. For me, that is a reason not to purchase. I have flat, wide feet, and bought these shoes hoping that they would fit. Unfortunately, while reviews describe these as having a wide toe box (which they do, sort of) the rest of the shoe is quite narrow. These would be appropriate shoes for someone with somewhat narrow feet that want lots of toe room but want fitted shoes. The length seemed true to size. The shoes also have very little cushioning in my opinion, and were uncomfortable. On the plus side, they are very attractive, and come in nice color combinations. I bought plum perfect and regretfully had to return as they just did not fit my foot. I wish that they did!

A great looking shoe, but unlike other my other Merrell's the arch seems unusually high for my foot. I think this will really bother me over time while hiking and so back they go. If you have a higher arch, they may work for you.

Bought these and they looked and felt good but had a very unpleasant odor. Also, had to return them almost immediately because I put on one shoe, started to tie it and one of the metal eyelets immediately popped off even with very minimal pressure. I will try another pair, perhaps I just got a bad pair and the rest are fine. For now I am marking these down from 4 to 3 overall due to poor quality.

The choice that looks black and light pink is nowhere close to black. It is a dark, muddy, olivey brown. Enjoyable with the pink (instead of all the bright colors in shoes this season) but definitely not black. Didn't fit my foot shape.

I love how these shoes look. And I love that they're a low-profile shoe. But they cause my feet to roll inward. Pretty much zero arch support. Back they go. :-(

I had a pair of Merrell hiking shoes that I loved and wanted a similar shoe. I do like that this shoe is very lightweight but it is so structured and stiff that by the end of the day my feet and back are aching terribly. I've hiked more than 300 miles in these and hoped that they just needed to be broken in but the extreme structure and stiff molded form, especially under the arch, is just painful for me. I need something a bit softer. This is the 2nd pair of new Merrells I bought that are molded like this. I wish they would go back to a bit softer shoe. Too painful.

These are so great looking, I really wanted them to work, but the foot-hugging style caused pain in my problem foot right away (I have a bunion on my left foot). So sad to return.

I liked these a lot when I bought them but after one seven mile hike the sole started to peel away from the toe cap and the mesh uppers started fraying. Fortunately Zappos let me return them. I was disappointed in the quality - obviously not meant for actual hiking. Too bad because I usually love Merrells.
