Scarpa has always made great footwear. I have bought their shoes and tele-boots for over 20 years. The new Crux shoe is a real loser. The last fits fine, but the comfort level is very poor. This is not a shoe to wear for a trail hike, nor an approach. They are very uncomfortable and "unfortunately" various "outdoor" magazines give it high ratings. Hmm...this is very misleading and these shoes should be recalled - you would have a better time walking barefoot, compared to wearing these. Imagine cardboard boxes on your feet, with sticky rubber as a sole. No Stars deserved for this product. Beware!

Feels like a great quality shoe. It's just really narrow width wise.

Love these shoes so far. Been wearing every day for a week and no issues. Fit is a bit narrow but not too narrow. I typically wear a size 11 with thin socks in most shoes. I decided to go with an 11 1/2 in the crux and they fit great with midweight socks. They were much lighter than I expected which is an added bonus. Craftsmanship seems great so far.

I usually wear a 9.5 but found the 10 more comfortable. I picked these up for use as my main walking shoe here in Burlington, Vermont. I use them everyday and have walked many hundreds of miles in them as part of my life-intervention weight loss crusade. They are also great shoes for riding my mountain bike. Very supportive and sturdy. I get lots of compliments for them and have had two people try to get me to sell them!

I have used this on several approaches in the flatirons around Boulder, CO and thus far have been delighted by them. My standard is how well to they allow me to scramble vs. how supportive are they compared to something like the Five Ten Guide Tennie. I'm a pretty big guy at 6'4 so I need a somewhat supportive shoe and these have been excellent in that regard. Their climbing/scrambling ability has been adequate for me, but I haven't tried any 5 class terrain with them.

I have a narrow foot, and a high arch. These fit so well right out of the box, that I wore them on a 6 mile hike to break them in, and then on a 15.2 mile hike the next weekend.
The sole design allows for tread resoles, and the uppers are superbly built. If they're anything like my last pair, (which I'm still wearing after one resole,) then this shoe should last me at least 2 more seasons.
Scraps fan for life.

Had 2 pairs of these shoes, washing windows professionally, both from ladders, climbing around between balconies and whatnot, and from ropes, running around on steep roofs, pulling lots of gear, and really hanging it out there. These shoes allowed me to concentrate on the task at hand and keeping the crew safe. Highly recommended.

Before buying these, I read some reviews that were kind of mixed. Some people said they had problems with unraveling and then Scarpa themselves would chime in and say they had defective units and to send them back.
My experience has been great with these Cruxs. Ive worn them for about 6 months now and they have held up to normal abuse. I wear them for everyday life and also took them out on a hike in arizona near phoenix. They have held up to a chicago winter and also a hot phoenix hike. Thats all I can really ask from a shoe.
One thing to note, when down climbing my hike, I did NOT have any foot slippage forward. I lost big toe nails in the past with Oboz hiking boots and these shoes felt to hug my feet 100% better. The Scarpa cruxs held my foot perfectly.
I'd reccomend these. Being these are my first Scarpa shoe, I think I'll try out their full hiking boots.

I wear 9.5 American and the Euro size 43 fits fine. Shoe is of moderate width but I can cinch it up snug on my very narrow foot w/ provided lacing. Fits comfy w/o break-in.

Very good approach show. I'm using it mainly for scrambling class 3. Excellent grip on bolder and steep slopes. This is my second pair, I use the first one quite intensively.
Shoe is comfortable, however it hurts if you wear it for more than 2-3 hours hiking unless you loose up the strings.

These shoes fit pretty much true to size and they were comfortable right out of the box and onto the trail. the grip on rocks is excellent and the upper seems sturdy so far. got lots of compliments on them, too.

This is my husbands 2nd pair and we are thinking of buying a 3rd pair as backup, just in case they stop making them. We originally bought for hiking in the French Alps. He loved them since the sole and toe are no-slip. then he continued to wear them around the city and to play paddle in. They are his go to sneakers.

These are great for walking and light hiking. I used them to clamber steep stepped sections of the Inca trail and Macchu Pichu. I have very flat, narrow feet and these shoes were very comfortable straight out of the box without needing my usual orthotic. Runs 1/2 size small.

A week after buying these I got stuck in a sneaker wave off the Oregon coast. They were filled with sand and cold seawater. Left them out to dry and its as if it never happened. They are comfy, not as bulky and stiff as other approach shoes (I also have the La Sportiva Boulder X). The insert is cheap foam, I don't know when shoe companies are actually going to start putting quality inserts in their shoes.

Ive had the shoe for a few weeks now and have generally liked it. First order of business, I had an eyelet pop out within the first 24 hours when I simply tightened my laces. I read about this being a problem on backcountry.com before I bought the shoe, so it seems to effect more than just me, but the shoe is still perfectly functional.
While I like the colors, I think the green highlighting is a bit bright and is hard to make this shoe versatile with any outfit if you're using it as a street shoe. Approach-wise, the rubber is not as sticky as other approach shoes, but still works fine. Last, I thought that the black stripping on the heel was a rand of climbing rubber, like that found on the toe, but it appears to simply be a faux stitched leather to prevent wear when heel-hooking, but is not sticky.

These shoes lasted about 50 miles hiking. The leather around the toe protector cracked and tore, leaving holes in both sides. Scarpa sent me a replacement set, still disappointed as it happened again. The soles are not as grippy as I would expect for a shoe of this style.

Fit as expected. I saw these shoes in a window in Venice Italy and knew I had to have them. After much shopping around, I went with Zappos and I am glad they did. They were exactly as expected, fit perfectly and are MAJOR comfy!

This shoe definitely runs small about a half size. This is an awesome approach shoe/ low top hiking boot. Durable, comfortable, light, yet super supportive.

I've been shopping around for new approach/winter go everywhere shoes for a year now. I've tried a ton of different shoes and I finally landed the Scarpa Crux. They aren't super hard and I can actually feel the ground while wearing them. They're sticky to all surfaces, and actually quite comfortable. Not the most stylish of shoes, but I like em a lot. Let's see how they hold up in the first year and I wouldn't mind getting another pair just to have. Because all of my favorite shoes seem to be discontinued or changed.

Husband's second pair - we got married (a sunrise summit elopement in Rocky Mountain National Park!) in his first pair of these four years ago! He wears these to the gym, to his office, doing professional field work, doing yard work... they're great, super durable all-around shoes with just enough style. Hot.
