I am a huge fan of these. Had them for almost 6 months now and no issues at all. A bit stiff but I like that in an approach shoe. Could climb a 5.8 easily in them. Am considering buying a second pair as a backup for when these die.

I have yet to scramble or do any technical climbing with these shoes, but the out-of-box comfort was phenomenal. Build quality seems quite good, and the rubber feels quite sticky. At this price, I'd keep buying them. Can't wait to get them on rock and feel them perform.

The fit is best at 1/2 size smaller than customary boot size. I'm in the southern rockies, and use these every day to scramble over rocks scree and hike. I love these shoes. Stick like glue. Firm sole, helps w edging and smearing. Not a softie shoe.

I have been a happy Crux user for years. This is my second pair. These are very technical "approach" shoes that are looking more dated with each passing season, but they do an exceptional job at maintaining grip and protecting my toes on all sorts of rocks and trails. They run ever so slightly narrow, but I am OK with the fit. Being not too narrow, they let me drive my jeep to the trail, do my hike, and drive home without a footwear change. They are versatile for world travel as well, from Iceland to the Sahara. Scarpa now makes a lightweight version called the "Crux Air" that I'll consider as well. The laces to the tips of the toes are the defining look and feel of this shoe, and they provide a very protective toe box up front. No thorny vegetation or pebbles can get to my feet in these. Will buy again.

I love how these look! They really caught my eye when shopping, and they look great in person. High quality materials and (so far) solid craftwork.

Looks amazing but ran very small. I usually wear an 8 so I ordered it and it was tiny, sent back for 8.5 and that was also tiny, sending this back again for a 9 to see if that works. I really want to wear them because they seem very well made and look great, but I will have to re-review after the 9s come in.

Tighter than normal on the toes, from the top, not the length. Hard to describe well, just not as comfortable for a daily use, unfortunate as they look nice.

I've had these shoes now for close to a year. They are my daily shoes but I have done 2 or 3 hikes in them as well. No rock climbing. I hiked in Wisconsin, Phoenix area, and another place or two. These were my first Scarpa shoes and they will not be my last. The thing that strikes me about these shoes is how great it is to hike in them. Particularly down hiking. They provide the most perfect hold on my foot that allows my toes to not get smashed. It's the type of fit that makes me forget I'm wearing shoes. The only two downsides I've found is the vibram rubber underneath the middle of the balls of my feet have begun to wear out almost completely flat. Also, the suede on the right shoe on the inner part of the foot has just begun to rip. Oh, the only other thing is that when I was hiking on large gravel rocks I felt like the rubber flexed too much for my liking. I should point out I was carrying probably a 30 pound pack at the time. I'm currently searching for the right full hiking boot because of this. Overall, I'd recommend these shoes.

The top edge of the ankle support is a little high and uncomfortable. It ends right on the interior and exterior ankle joints which make the shoe somewhat uncomfortable. I have not walked long enough in the shoe to cause rawness or blistering but this is a concern for me. Other than that issue the sole is comfortable and the shoe design is unique which I like.

I've had these for about a year now, and am now looking to replace them because of some recent knee pain. The shoes are solid - I've used them as light hikers successfully, including a hike up Longs Peak in Colorado with an about 30 pound pack. After a couple of hiking trips they became my everyday shoes. No real complaints for the first few months - not outstanding, but not terrible. The support is not so great after awhile. There is little bend in the midsole, no help for those who under- or overpronate, and no substantial cushioning. They do not breath at all - lacing them up tightly gives the best fit, but your friends won't let you take them off. If you have some cushioned insoles that you love and can put in these right away, I'd say go for it. Better options for the money, though.

I usually wear size 13 medium, and I increased my size to 14 and the shoes still felt narrow and just barely long enough. I returned the shoes.

I've purchased several Scarpa shoes / boots in the past (always directly from Italian retailers)... because they were made in Italy. Very disappointed that these were made in China and frankly look to be very different quality. They look cheap and not what I usually get from Scarpa. They did not come in an original Scarpa box, but rather a suspect generic brown cardboard box with no Scarpa label. I will not order this brand from Zappos again.

After just a few months of occasional wear, the shoes are nearly unwearable due to the lack of comfort and suport.

The CRUX is manufactured in China.
I tried the Crux because it bears the name SCARPA but didn't get the expected fit, style or quality I have previously lauded with SCARPA shoes manufactured in Romania & Italy. I've emailed Scarpa directly w/o reply. I informed them I will no longer purchase any of their shoes if they continue manufacturing in China.
It's very disappointing as I figured I would love these shoes as I do the current 3 other pairs of SCARPA's I wear daily.
If you give the Crux a shot I would say order it at least one size larger than normal because I purchased 2 different pairs of Scarpa's.The Zen Pro, & the Crux in size 45 and I knew immediately something was off. I sent the Crux back. I will say tjey did look very cool but I doubt the durability is there like my previous Scarpa's, the materials didn't feel the same and obviously either did the fitment

I tried letting these break in over months but never have gotten comfortable. I read a review that said he loved Scarpa shoes but these "Crux" should be discontinued. I thought it was just an angry customer. Turns out I agree. The toe area is the worst part because it doesn't bend correctly with my foot where the extra laces are at the front of the shoe. Wish I had returned instead of trying to make them work for me. Maybe just my foot but agree with some of the others about this style. I hiked 3 days in them for about 50 miles and never got comfortable but I do think the material and quality of the shoe is nice. The bottom of my feet felt good too and it was just the top toe area that is not comfortable.

I like the feel on these shoes. They are my indoor shoes because I am on my feet all day and do a lot of walking. My major problem with them is that after the third time wearing the metal ring around the hole for the shoe lace popped off and now the others are coming out.

Bought these shoes on June 3 2014, it is now July 11 and a hole appeared during a hike, located on the inside of the left shoe, above the rubber toe guard. The leather has about a 2" tear, exposing the inside of the shoe. I would say these are not durable and not suitable for approach as they fell apart so quickly. I would not recommend them.
