Very comfortable boot. Had them about a month and have been wearing them while clearing land and building.

Good quality boot. Been wearing Doc's for decades but their quality has declined significantly. These are the closest I have found that fit, look and wear like the old school 8-eyes except they are a bit larger - I usually wear size 10UK/11US but had to get 10EE US for these. I have not broke these in yet but still feel great.

I've owned a million pairs of boots over the past 40 years, and these are my favorites -- even better than my original pair of Irish Setters I got in eighth grade and wish I'd never lost. These boots have terrific Vibram soles and bomb-proof welt; soft but sturdy upper leather; quick break-in; easy lacing (thanks to hooks); fit that's not too wide, so it's comfortably snug at sides; oiled leather that looks brand-new each time you take a shoe polishing brush to it; terrific waxed laces -- everything about this boot is great. I wear mine with straight leg jeans.

These boots are fantastic. I am a university student and these are great casual boots to wear to class. They look great, but do take some time to put on and take off due to the lacing. I have yet to test them in the snow, but they keep me fantastically dry in the rain. I would highly recommend.

Love these boots! Before I retired I had the higher (10" or so) logger boots for work, these are just as rugged but a little less work oriented so wear them pretty much all the time. I've always preferred a higher shoe for great support. Buying from Zappos is always great. Ordered 10 1/2 first, too roomy so next day got these.

I am very pleased with these boots. Prior to this, the only other boots I owned a pair of Doc Martens. Though these were a little more expensive, the leather is much higher quality and broke in much easier. They are solid, comfortable, and look sharp. And made in the US, even! I would agree with a previous reviewer about sizing down - I normally wear an 11D, but wear a 10EE in this boot. Still, I'm looking forward to wearing these for a good long while.

Boots seem to fit fairly well. They scraped my heels quite a bit at first while I was breaking them in but after a bit the leather softened and it got better. Haven't had snow yet but I expect they will work well in that situation.

I bought a pair of these boots for my handyman boyfriend. One pair is more pointy while the other is more rounded. There were some scratches and spots on the shoe, a crack on the sole area, residual glue on the sole and extra bits of sole on the edges. But, all of my concerns were remedied when I contacted Chippewa directly as I was describing the result of a normal manufacturing process. Chippewa's retail consumer specialist replied: The leather that your boots are made from is an oil tan leather and will show scratches and marks like that but will quickly disappear the 1st time you condition the boots. What you referred to as a crack in the leather is actually where the Goodyear welt meets and every pair of boots that we make with the Goodyear welt has that spot where it meets and is sewn to the sole. All of our soles have some residual glue on the sole as well as the small bits of rubber on the treads of the sole. This is the way that they come from the manufacturing plant. On the roundness of the toes. I could not see that big of a difference. I had to look at it several times and know that I was looking for it to be different to be able to tell. I do not think that your boots are defective. I hope this helps to ease your mind.

Fit is perfect. I usually wear size 10.5-11 depending on the fit. I initially ordered 11D but it was a little too long and not quite wide enough for thicker cushioned boot socks so returned them and got the 10.5EE and voila they fit just right. Still need to break them in but the look and feel of the leather and sole is very nice. I bought these for warm/hot weather hunting and general outdoor/work use. Time will tell if they hold up.

These are great boots! They were a little uncomfortable around the collar at first but they were perfect after about a week. I've hiked miles in these already and love them. Great support, and they don't get uncomfortable at all after walking a few miles. The vibram sole has tons of tread so they're great for climbing steep hills.

I normally wear a 13 (I mean every shoe I've bought in the last 20+ years was a 13), but these were just huge. Ended up with a 12 EE and they are perfect. Tried Frye Boots in similar styles but these just fit and looked better and they were made in the US and not China like some of the Frye models. (I do love the Frye boots I do own though!)

These are really nice boots. All leather, no plastic, lug vibram soles. Best I know of, and I've had a lot of really expensive hiking and work boots.

Fit was right (according to those size things you stand on at the shoe store - not the size of most of my shoes). They were pretty comfortable right off the bat and I expect them to only get better. They're comfortable to walk in for a pretty good distance - I haven't gone far enough for them to hurt yet, and I've gone a few miles at a time already. If you like the way they look in the pictures, you'll like the way they look in person, very accurate pictures. I'm very happy with them.

The softer compound in the Vibram sole offers great cushioning. Boots have a quality feel, old school styling and construction, and broke in quickly. At 68 years old, these are some of the most comfortable boots that I have owned. They are an outstanding daily wear boot.

I loved these boots the moment I first tried them on - great style, material and workmanship - and being made in the USA is a huge plus. I had noticed a few reviewers saying they fit big, and to size down one size. I normally wear a US size 10, and I always put an arch supports in my boots. Knowing this would take up some of any extra room there may be, I went with the size 10 and they fit perfectly. As always, Zappos provided super fast shipping and delivery - much appreciated!

Size description seems accurate. Fit my narrow heel/wide forefoot well. Well constructed work boots - and I’ve worn a lot of work boots over the years. Great support. Seem to be breaking in easily despite the stout leather they are made of.

I looked far and wide for a pair of REAL LEATHER Work SHOES for under $200 that were not "waterproof'. Seems nearly all the shoes in this class are now-a-days lined with some synthetic material designed to make them waterproof but in reality trap sweat and water inside causing the lining to breakdown before the shoe wears out. Kind of like wearing a shoe with a plastic bag as a liner. At least that's what it feels like to me. Hard to beat a shoe made with a decent grade of leather like these and no weird lining inside. There is however what appears to be a calf skin lining in the heel and toe areas right where its needed. These shoes seem altogether a decent value for the money. I have only worn them for two days but after standing and working in them all day I hardly even thought of my feet all day. That's a good thing. I would have preferred a more shiny brown leather than the "chocolate" colored leather which has a rather dull finish to it but after applying some leather conditioner they look good. I did notice some slight chafing up around the ankle collar but it went away after wearing them a few hours and adjusting the lacing. Still need some breaking in before I head out on any long treks but I'd feel confident that these will hold up and provide the traction, support and comfort needed for walking in rough terrain. The vibram soles are perfect for my use and the moderately sharp heel allows one to dig into the ground just enough to ensure resistance to slipping when walking down hill on snow or muddy ground.

Right out of the box these boots felt great - I expect them to become even better once fully broken in! Good fit, perfect toe room and noticeable arch support. I needed a basic, uninsulated boot and these totally meet my needs - unfortunately, it appears this specific model is no longer being made - or was replaced by the Cibola lace boot (as determined from the Chippewa boots website). I will look to this manufacturer for future footwear needs!

I bought these for my husband to replace a very similar Chippewa boot from about 15 years ago. I wanted to post a photo of the old pair, but he had already thrown them out. They were still in very good shape except for the seam on the toe cap had started to split. These new ones don't have a seam there, so I expect he will get at least another 15 years out of these. The new ones have a lug sole while the old ones had a smooth sole, so that was a welcome improvement as well. Just the fact that they lasted so long, and fit so well, left us no choice but to buy the same boot again. They fit him perfectly with little break in time necessary. As long as they keep making them we will keep buying them. And hey, Made in USA is a real bonus!!!

Chippewa Apache Lace Up I had been searching for a while for a plain all leather boot. I did not want fancy lining or insulation. I discovered the Chippewa Apache, researched it and noted that they were made in the USA which made the purchase even easier. Ordering from Zappos.com was easy. Shipping quick. Packaging was great. In total, a great online retail experience and I was updated regularly on the status and transit of my order. These boots are exactly as described. They are build very well and as comparable to some of my military combat boots. There all leather without any form of lining on the interior of the boot. The Vibram sole was my biggest concern as most work boots today have a cushioning sole. This Vibram sole of the Chippewa Apache Lace Up is fairly hard rubber with little give. I expected that I would become easily fatigued walking and standing on hard concrete all day. Really not the case. I think the quality of the shoe build and how well the arch support conforms to my feet help prevent premature fatigue. These really conform to my feet. I’ve been wearing these shoes for nearly 4 weeks daily now. They broke in incredibly easy for me. Sizing was a bit on the small side. I normally wear a 9. Since Zappos offers free returns I purchased and 9 and 8 ½ to try both. The 8 ½ fit best so I returned the 9 which was super easy. They are one of the most comfortable boots I have owned. Literally they’re a joy to don and lace every morning. I’m considering purchasing a second pair to keep as spare and to be able to rotate daily. The price of these shoes in my opinion were high for work boots but the comfort and build quality hopely will outlast any of competitors boot. Lastly, as I logged in to write this review I see the same boot which I paid $205 for priced at $189.95. I guess I should have waited a bit longer before purchase and save a couple of bucks.

I love these boots. I walk about 4-6 miles every day at work. 80% concrete and 20% grass and other surfaces. They’re breaking in perfectly and will definitely purchase Chippewa boots again. Also Zappos sent the wrong size on the initial order but their totally great customer service department took care of the issue instantly.
