I normally wear a size 8 when it comes to Red Wing Boots and 8.5/9 when it comes to most Nikes but I found Chippewa boots to run fairly true to size. I ordered my Apache Lace Ups in a 8.5 and found the sizing to be spot on. The material and quality on these boots to be amazing and the Vibram sole to work very well in inclement weather.

Bought these boots to replace some Red Wings. The style I was wearing had a nice soft sole. I work at a launch pad and every surface is concrete or steel. I wanted a boot with more substantial, hard leather mid-sole to separate my foot from what I was walking on. These being a lot less than comparable Red-Wing, and also made in USA, decided to give them a try. I couldn't be more pleased. After a few days of break in, these are just what I was looking for. I wear a 12 EE, and after reading other reviews about ordering a smaller size I ordered both an 11 1/2 and a 12. I don't understand the other reviews, the 12 EE fits fine. Perhaps other reviewers are comparing to Chinese made boots which run small (I wear a 13 EEEE in a Nike). They looked at first to be a bit long but the break at the ball of my foot is exactly right. I would definitely recommend these boots.

Use this boot for landscaping work, where I need the treds to help me get up and down the hills. It is similar to a 'logger boot' except that it has a lower, walking heel- unlike the higher cowboy-boot heel of the logger boots. Like other reviewers, I would say this boot runs large. I ordered 1/2 size down instead of a full size down, which worked for me. I ordered a D width, which is quite narrow (which is what I was looking for. I'm a woman with a narrow foot, and most men's D-widths are a bit wide for me, but not this one. The inside of the boot is not lined with material to make it softer/more comfortable and that is the only improvement that I can think of for the boot. I used Neets-Foot oil to make the boot leather more supple.

I bought these for a warehouse job; I'm on my feet for ten hours a day. These boots took about two and a half weeks to break in (which is a sign of quality, in my opinion). The color is a much lighter shade of brown than shown online; to get the dark cappuccino brown pictured above, boot oil works nicely.

I have large feet and have always required comfortable boots. After not being satisfied by another shoe company I found these. I have had them for a few months now and I could not be happier with them. I were them almost everyday for 9+ hours. I have yet to have a problem and they have held up great in mud, gravel, dirt, just about anything. I will defiantly be purchasing another pair in the future.

These are lovely boots - supportive, sturdy, nicely made. The gusseted tongue will take the longest to conform to your foot; be prepared to wear them with thick socks for a while. I normally wear an 11 medium-to-wide, and a 10 1/2 wide is very comfortable. Their wide is most people's medium-wide.

This is an excellent and classic boot. They are simple, rugged, well constructed, light weight (for full leather), and durable. They break in fast and are very comfortable once they do. I wear these every day and am hard on footwear. I use these boots for hiking and hunting in the mountains of Montana, and for ranch work. They have held up exceptionally well so far and are even quite waterproof. I have been maintaining that with mink oil and it seems to do quite well and keeps the leather from drying out. The arch support is moderate. I replaced the factory insoles with superfeet and noted an improvement in comfort that allows me to be on my feet longer without soreness in my arches. The sizing is large. I normally wear a size 14, but have very low volume (skinny) feet. I went with a 13 and they fit perfectly, (though a 13.5 might have been slightly better for me). I highly recommend these boots, they were exactly what I was looking for.

I am very happy with these boots. They do take a bit of time to break in but that is to be expected with this type of boot and after some wear the comfort is great. Fit and finish are top notch, I can't see spending more for Red Wings with Chippewa making such an excellent product.

I highly recommend these boots. They feel surprisingly light on my feet, Almost like tennis shoes. But they look and feel solidly built. The sole is very aggressive and looks great. I cannot believe I got such high quality boots for this price. I could not be happier!

These were narrower than the last pair of 20800’s I bought (same size) when I compared them.

Really like these boots - comfortable and so far (only had them for about a month) appear to be well made - the style isn't very clunky and I mainly use them to ride in and since I don't bring another pair of shoes for work, I have these guys on for 10 - 12 hours a day. I usually wear a 10 - 10.5 in Nike running shoes and had to drop down to a 9D - tried a 9EE but the D was fine - thanks Zappos for the easy returns

These are great boots. However, they are a lot lighter in color than the pic. More tan than chocolate. Also, I'm an 11. Waaay too big. Settled on the 10.5 because it feels right with thick socks but still wonder if I shouldn't have got the 10.

Zappos: The boots are great, they really are; but, I would like thank Zappos for their great customer service with these boots. I ordered the wrong Chippewas at first and they helped send a one night shipping of the correct boots to me. Again, I messed up and specified the wrong size so I called back and Zappos again helped me get the right size shoes quickly to my doorstep. If you are worried about ordering from this site, don't be, they are great and will help if any hiccups happen! The Boot: The out sole on this boot is great for traction on any surface. From hiking over boulders to walking through mud, I have great confidence in my step. The comfort also really what makes this boot great. My foot fits snug in it after I broke them in. When/if you get this boot, when you pick it up and hold you really do realize and understand the quality of Chippewa. It's the type of boot that you can tell wont break down in your lifetime; the type of boot that you'll have to pass on to a son, brother, or grandchild in order to finish them off. I highly recommend just pulling the trigger and buying it. For the price, it is worth more than worth buying.

I have to say, I'm a huge fan of Chippewa boots lately. After being severely disappointed with the recent quality level of Frye and Red Wing's Heritage Series, I decided to give Chippewa a try. These boots remind me of wearing an old school pair of Doc Martens, but on steroids. They've got a bomb-proof rugged sole, and the leather is top-notch. I would normally consider myself to have wide feet when ordering athletic shoes, but getting these in a D size fit the bill perfectly. Do yourself a favor and consider getting these over a pair of $300+ Red Wings. I truly feel you'll get a longer lasting and more comfortable boot.

Great boot 2 months in! Had to go full size down compared to sneakers for proper fit. A little bit of room in the heel, medium weight wool sock fills it perfectly. Will take a little time to break in. Lots of Vibram tread but slick in the wet. Made in the USA!

Beautiful, sturdy, and hard-working, this shoe has it all plus on fatal flaw: the tongue is like a dull blade pushing slowly into your skin. It's as painful as it sounds. A pity too, because it's the only design flaw I could find, but it's a deal breaker. I don't mind breaking in boots, but I don't think this is something that's ever going to soften up enough to stop chaffing my ankles.

Start of day comfortable then they would tighten up and hurt my feet especially the pinky, I wanted to return them after a weeks work but noticed the soles were coming apart, so returning seemed wrong. After 2 months they they look like they are 2 years old. Terrible boot for the price would never buy Chippewa more like cheeppewa

This boot started to disintegrate within the first couple of weeks after I received it. The layers of sole began to separate all the way around the boot, and this has worsened over the last few weeks. The separated sole has exposed the inner stitching holding the layers together, and traps dirt between the layers. In addition with nearly every day of normal wear the brass tabs holding the laces get pushed down or pulled up out of position and must be bent back to loosen the shoe and take it off. It will only be a short time until these tabs break off from being continually bent. I don't know if this is meant as a serious work boot, but at the price and with how it is marketed I expected a high quality shoe. This is not a good boot for outdoor work conditions, and I wouldn't recommend it for that. These are going back to Zappos.
