The La Sportiva Wildcat is one of the best running/hiking shoes out there. I have large feet for a woman (I normally wear a women's 11) and ordering these in a men's size was necessary after they made the women's sizes smaller. I have these same shoes in an earlier version in the women's 11 (a 43) and they fit nicely. To update, I had to go up to a 44 and order a men's version. These shoes are light, very stable and supportive, and snug through the heel and arch with a wide roomy toe box. Exactly what I want in a trail shoe. I can fully spread my toes while the rear of the shoe is snug and very stable. I used these shoes for backpacking, running and trail running and they do well for all three. I just took them for a run/walk in deep, wet slush and my feet were warm and dry. And absolutely GREAT all-around shoe.

This appears to be a great shoe, but is very narrow and will have to be returned.

My third pair, great approach and day hiking shoe. Zero break in--take off right out of the box. Sturdy enough to support carrying overnight pack yet light and comfortable. Need to orde 1/2 size up to fit. I wear 10.5, need an 11.

I also have the non-GTX Wildcat and wear them all the time, but wanted something more suitable for winter and so far they've been great.

They are unbelievable shoes. I had a previous non-Gore-Tex model and loved them. These are even better. They have made some slight improvements over the years. Out of the box these things are super comfy and don't take breaking in. First day I wore them was on a pretty serious 8-mile hike and I had no issues. They are perfect in pretty much every way. Not sure if they would be ideal for warmer temperatures. Just buy them already!

The first generation of GTX Wildcats were my favorite winter/bad weather running shoe, and the second incarnation definitely tops it. The last and general design of the shoe is the same across both generations, but there is the addition of a small pull tab on the heel that makes slipping them on significantly easier (I'm aware it sounds like a minor change, but with a pair of shoes you want relatively snug to keep snow out, the heel was the only feature I wasn't psyched on the first time around). These run great, and the entire construction of the shoe is incredibly waterproof. I've got through a lot of ankle-to-knee deep snow in these and they always come out dry. Have turned these into the go-to shoe for any bad weather.

I have owned several pairs of wild cats. Always wanted to try the water proof gtx. Bought them on sale and I'm glad I did. Great right out of the box.

These ran a bit small and didn't have as much arch support as my son needs. They also have a fairly thick heel that he didn't like the feel of.

Oh No! These were WAY too small! I'd say at least 1 size too small. And they were heavy. Clonky. A big no, here.
