I am a very average, novice trail runner. Also in the grand master category. I have run in the Wild four times for about 20 miles. Flat. Vert. Dirt. Rocks. I absolutely love it. I have used maybe 8-9 different trail shoes but this, I believe, is the best. 1. Great toe box. 2. Good cushion without being mushy or putting me up too high. 3. It puts me exactly where my forefoot is most comfortable landing. 4. Has some return, which is something a pretty low class runner like me can't always distinguish. I don't really concern myself with speed but I feel like I can and maybe do go faster in these. Even if it improves by trail running self-image, then hey... 5. Shoe laces stay tied. Good material with friction. 6. Max Traction proves to be exactly what it is. Took one run up Olympus (Utah) and on the BST portion which has it's fair share of rockiness and the grip was excellent going up and down.

Dear Altra, please take the standard fit mold, put it under lock and key, and never change it. The fit is a great balance between foot shape and mid-foot security.

I have always run my 100 and 200 milers in the Altra Olympus shoe. I switched to this shoe to try for the Tahoe 200. I actually only broke them in with 5 miles. I wore the shoe for the entire race and they performed amazingly.

I bought these as a "recovery" shoe after a stress fracture in training. Slightly stiffer, and more cushion has been great. My everyday shoe and also up to 7-8 mile shoe as I start to reup distance.

Love the Altra experience shoes but these colors are laughable. Is it really that hard to make a trail shoe without these ridiculous midsole and accent colors? Road shoes as well. Give us some freaking browns or I'm switching fully to Topo. So uggo.

I've been running in Altra's since their first shoes, but I left them for another brand when they became too narrow in the toe box. Then they came out with this shoe. I think 4mm drop is better for my running, the cushion is amazing, and the fit of the upper is fantastic. It is snug on your heel (another first for Altra). The only thing I'd change is that long feel-thing. It gives you blisters on your leg, but you can fix that by standing on it or clamping back with a woodworking clamp overnight. Anyway, I really hope you don't alter this shoe too much and that you keep it around. It's by far the best shoe I've ever run in.

Excellent Grip on Mixed Terrain This is a fantastic trail running shoe that provides exceptional grip on various terrains. It's lighter than other shoes I've tried and features improved materials for a more comfortable fit. To truly road test it, I took This shoes with me all the way to Yosemite NP for some fun. Here are some of its highlights: * Excellent traction: The aggressive lugs on the outsole dig into loose soil and mud, providing superior stability, even on challenging trails. On a trail where I gained 4000ft of elevation with multiple switchbacks I was never worried about my shoes. * Lightweight: this shoes sheds some weight without sacrificing durability. * Comfortable fit: The shoe's upper conforms well to your foot. I did not need to "break them in" and was able to get up and go same day If you're looking for a versatile and grippy trail shoe, these kickers come highly recommended.

A little smaller feeling than I'm used to, but after a few outings, broken in nicely. Very good tread where I feel like the shoe pushes me forward. It hugs the terrain, and feels very stable. It's very well designed and a comfortable fit

The Altra men's wild experience running shoes are quite amazing. This is the first trail shoe that makes me want to run as soon as I have strapped them on. The fact that it is a pretty shoe only makes them that much better. I absolutely love to hit the trails with these bad boys on my feet, super comfortable, lightweight and fun as well.

Have run in pretty much every Altra model over the years, mostly on trails. Also run in Hoka, but was looking for an alternative to the Hoka Challenger, which I no longer find to be as comfortable as previous models. This new Altra fits the bill. Comfy, but stack height not so high that it messes with stability. Also appreciate the 4mm drop, which is actually right in my sweet zone.

Purchased these bad boys and took them on the trail right out of the box. They did not disappoint at all. Great on the trail feel with amazing stability and comfort. These are a winner for sure!

TIMP, Lone Peak, SuperiorsI've run many miles in them all. Just did 22 mile trail run pulling these out of the box and love them already! Can't wait for my first race with them!

The low drop on these running shoes is really effective at limiting the impact on my joints- especially my ankles- when I trail run. They are very made and true to size with plenty of room to move and breathe in the boxy toe. Definitely recommend!!

These sneakers are the answer if you're looking for a comfortable trail running shoe. The toe box isn't tight but rather open to movement. The rocker style shape makes it easier for your natural stride. The grip on the sole makes for easier traction. These shoes are lightweight and the memory foam comfort is unbelievably good. Adding these shoes to my collection was the best decision.

The Altra Trail Running Shoe is a game-changer for trail enthusiasts. Its wide toe box and Zero Drop platform prioritize comfort and natural movement, while the rugged outsole and reinforced toe cap ensure durability and protection on any terrain. Versatile and stylish, these shoes excel on both technical trails and gentler terrain. If you're looking for a trail shoe that combines comfort, durability, versatility, and style, the Altra Trail Running Shoe is the perfect choice. Highly recommended for runners of all levels.

The Altra Experience Wild are very comfortable, durableand attractive shoes. The MaxTrac outsole offers great performance for trail running and hiking while not being too aggressive where you wouldn't want to wear them casually if needed. I got the 'Black' color way and think it's a great looking shoe for running and casual use.

I have been a long time Lone Peak guy and was looking for a shoes with more cushion for my Ultra distances. The Olympus 5 fit was not good for me, and the upgraded Mont Blanc was way too expensive. Enter the Experience Wild. Wow is all I can say. They have the fit of the Lone Peak with the flexibility and the toe room that I love, but the cushion, traction, and rocker of a Speedgoat. As a zero drop guy, I can say that the drop is very low and not noticeable other than in the easier toe off. I do not feel like I am heel striking in these shoes, which is a common issue for other low drop shoes. These have gaiter attachments and a comfortable tongue, with really solid heel lockdown. I am very impressed with fit and feel in this new shoe. Unboxed it and ran a decent 15 miles the first day. Now all that is left is to test durability. Altra sure seems to be listening to user input finally and changing the big issues. Highly recommend!

Runners who enjoyed the the first version FWD EXPERIENCE will find this shoe a nice addition for the trails. I typically favor Altra's slim or standard last. The WILD was easy to lock down without compromising forefoot space for me compared to other standard last options, making it easier for me to use for longer trail sessions.

I've found the Altra Experience Wild to be a really comfortable shoe. The rocker isn't overly forceful, so it won't 'push you' to crank up the pace, which is good for easy days on the trail. The cushioning is soft enough to absorb some of the roots and rocks you'll step on but maybe too soft for ultra distances.

So far, this shoe fits/wears exactly as described by Altra! I do feel it's slightly more narrow (Timp 4/5 my favorite), but not in a significant or bad way. Definitely recommend!

i was amazed that altra has came up with a 4 millimeter drop shoe. It is by far the most i ever experienced. The tongue can be a little bit thinner. The outsole can be a little bit more grippy for more technical trails. This shoe can accomplish so much from day to day walk to trail running and hiking.

These have quickly become my favorite trail running shoe. They just fit my feet so well. They are lightweight with great cushion and the maxtrax lugs are holding up really well.
