I just threw these on and I had no idea I needed a wide toe box. They feel great and I will definitely get another pair once these wear out.

The Escalante was one of the first Altras I fell in love with years ago. Took a break for a few years since they started to change, but so psyched to be back in them and loving this model -- feels like a return to the early days where you would put them on and think they were the most comfortable shoes ever.

I really love the shoe, its so confortable and cool, its light and cushioned. I am a fan of altra and this is my top pick. I always buy half size big do.

This is my 3rd pair of Altra's. I also have Provision 7&8s. I am a heavy guy and former D1 offensive lineman. I usually strength training in mostly barefoot shoes-Xeros and have several pair. I do cardio in my Altras especially for runs/walks where a Xero shoe will tire my feet out very fast. This shoe is my favorite out of all the shoes that I have owned so far. I have been into barefoot style shoes since about 2020. This is the absolute sweet spot in terms of the zero drop and wide toe box and has enough stack height that my feet aren't completely worn out after a jog/cardio session. I took these through leg workout this week with some squat work in there and honestly felt better training in these over a true barefoot shoe. Can't recommend these enough if you are looking for a multipurpose gym shoe.

I have owned many pairs of Superiors from 2-6 and lone peaks. I really like them all. Though the Surerior's have declined somewhat. These Escalante's are now my go to Altra"s. They are comfortable and the fit is perfect for my wide feet.

I've had four or five pairs of Escalante's and all of them have been the Escalante three. I love how much lighter the upper is and the foam is somewhat firmer which I love. Really great!

Love these shoes. Recently moved from the forward experiences (now the experience flow I believe) and happy I did. Very natural feel and lightweight. I would buy again.

Great shoes. I've been on a search for shoes that have enough cushion for road running after getting tendinitis from running in too barefoot of a shoe. These feel great but don't feel like I'm running in stilts like the higher stack shoes. Really glad I found these.

I do a lot of hiking/walking. I have had Altra for years, problem is my right foot had an injury and is wider. The original fit Altra fit perfect. Sadly this original fit seemed to have disappeared. Luckily I found this pair with original fit. Happy customer

Great for road running. Escalante 3 felt too small on the top of my foot. Went up 1/2 size and this fits perfect. Will buy again.

Great shoe. Best running shoe Altra has put out in a long time. More supportive than the Escalante 2.5 and without the annoying rim in the toe box. Doesn't have all the unnecessary padding of the Escalante 3. Fantastically wide toe box true to the OG Altra design, as compared to some recent models. Might be just a little lower volume in the mid-foot but not in a bad way, and makes the it feel more supportive for a minimalist type shoe. Heel is a bit stiff out of the box and rubbed a little on back of my ankle, but seems like it will break in nicely with a few runs so not worried about it. This is my favorite Escalante model to date. As a long time Altra fan, I find it so frustrating how models change so dramatically from one rendition to the next. Please just leave this one alone!

I mix up my running between the road and trails. These are great for both! My feet feel happy and stronger than ever!

I am a bicycle mechanic, so a black pair of light, comfortable shoes is essential.

I'm a 4-6 mile runner who has gone through a lot of different shoes from other brands over the years never finding the right fit and cushion level for my forefoot striking gait. My legs and feet feel amazing after a few weeks of running on the Escalante 4, and I've purchased another pair for walking around the rest of the day now as well! Thank you Altra for a great shoe!

Using as my primary gym shoes. Just discovered Altras back in May. These things are amazing! My "normal" shoe size is 14 4E and this "Original fit" is MAGNIFICENT! Great support, excellent feel As Goldilocks would say, "Just Right". I may try the Escalante 2 next time but honestly more from a curiosity standpoint than to fill a gap.

This is the best sneaker I've ever worn. Fits right out of the box. No break-in needed. I had the Women's Escalante 3 in size 8.5, and got these in size 7. Love how they made the laces longer too.

Love these! Just enough cushion for a zero drop heel to toe shoe to work well on my morning road run with my dogs. This comes with a wide but not too funky looking toe box. Very stylish and fun colors too. This isn't easy to find in a minamilist shoe. Will buy more from Altra and have my eyes on their trail shoes next.

The Altra Escalante 4 has quickly become my all-time favorite shoe. I wear it daily for casual outings, and it seamlessly transitions into my CrossFit workouts, offering incredible versatility. I have been doing runs ranging from 3-7 miles in these and love them. I also wear them all day at work which is mostly on my feet. They are outstanding.

I purchased these shoes for walking as part of my regular exercise because I noticed other running shoes did not provide sufficient support and cushion. These shoes are fabulous and the most comfortable I have ever owned.
