I've been wearing SG GTX since version 4. I've had my new SG6 GTXs for about a week. They seem stiffer than the 5s; as a result, the 5s seem more stable--I fit *in* the 5s, but I feel like I'm "on top" of the 6s, which I don't like as much. The 5s felt like they adhered to the surface--trail, rocks, beach-- for running and for walking through sloppy stuff in wet weather. The 6s feel more like hiking boots, with their stiffer, less flexible sole. I adopted a more cushioned insole (Powerstep) than my usual Superfeet green to compensate. I suppose the 6's might wear longer--some people knocked the 5s because they wore out, but I didn't mind because they did their job superlatively. I don't like them *too* flexible (like Asics Kayanos) but I appreciate the cushion for running and walking as my feet are kind of beat up but I'm not done with them yet. I haven't tried these on a hike yet, so possibly I'd appreciate the stiffness more; I use them for walking (5+ miles most days) and some running (usually 3 miles a few times a week; though I use other shoes as well). These actually feel a lot more like my Asics GT2000 GTXs, which use primarily for running. I also notice that, with being stiffer, the sole seems to drop under my toes more--making my walks more like rocking steps. Don't like this so much. I may give these another week of intensive trial but at this point I am considering returning them and getting a pair of 5s.

Very disappointed with the fit of this shoe specifically the shoe tongue. Very tight and impossible to put on. Had to return and will look at other models.

I bought these specifically because they are offered in wide, the wide version is somehow narrower than many non wide shoes of the same size, and much narrower than my old Hoka’s these replaced. They are also generally uncomfortable and after a few walks the right shoe is making a noise with every step. A big disappointment.

Absolutely love my new Speedgaot 6 shoes. Great fit and comfortable. Aggressive tread design that are nice and grippy. I got the Goretex as well as we like to seek out waterfalls.

We do a lot of hiking domestic and abroad. The upgraded technology of the Speedgoat 5 & 6 is amazing. The Gortex shell ensures that your feet will stay dry (unless you step in water over your ankles!). We couple this with Dirty Girl gaiters and stand by the combination of the two.

Finally! A WIDE width GTX shoe for us Fred Flintstone feet. I purchase a new Hoka show about 3-4 months and rotate out the old/worn for about 5 years now. I've been trying to find one I can get dirty, dig holes, water, and not slide down embankment weed wacking the blackberry's in. This is it! I've been using outside 3-4 days a week with no slipping in mud. I finally feel stable. Thankfully! So far no issues fit is nice and roomy so if I am working in winter I have room for thick socks! Fair warning GTX means waterproof. So your feet need to breathe. I forgot about that and had to wear my clothes for over 27 hours straight. My feet looked like I was at the water park all day. I just knew I would have blisters where it rubbed. I put aloe vera on and a blister hydrocolloid bandaid each bunion. The next day. Nothing!! My nameless other brands would give me blisters in less than 8 hours of doing that. Please, keep up the good work and more fun colors in wides please

I have been buying another brand of shoes lately but a friend recommended this shoe. So I came back to HOKA and purchased these. They are truly amazing, great support and very comfortable.

I Love these...Very light and sturdy. I use them for hiking while doing Wildlife photography and Golf on wet cold mornings. I also have Speed Goat 6 Mid which I feel the same way about...Great shoes.

I got the gtx for those snow covered trails. These definitely need to be broken in to. I've owned a pair from last year and once they were used often and broken in were much more comfortable. Definitely worth it for the winter weather and keeps your feet dry when it's melting and muddy.

Really love the new speedgoat 6. I have tried both the regular and GTX versions now. The foam on my speedgoat 5 would wear out too fast, I am a bigger runner (205lbs or so) and the shoes felt like they had no spring after 75-100 miles. With the new speedgoat 6 I am getting many more miles than I had on the 5s previously! Full disclaimer, I do use Currex insoles, not a fan on the factory ones. The tongue is more padded in the 6 and that helped tremendously with rubbing. Big fan! I've run in the speedgoat for years (evo 2, 3, 4, 5) and the 6 is my favorite iteration yet.

Haven't worn in wet conditions yet so can't speak to waterproof capabilities. Happy with the purchase thus far, fit is spot on and shoe feels great and sole is exceptional! Interestingly, the tongue and shoe interface is very close so the shoes feel very secure even before tying laces.

My 8th pair of Hoka (over 6yrs) . Gortex and grip worked perfectly. My only issue was sizing. I'm consistently a size 9 the correct fitting size for these shoes(for me ) was a size 10.

I absolutely love these shoes! I am a runner, and I have always struggled to find comfortable running shoes that can take my long 4 mile runs. These shoes make running much easier- it's like running on clouds, literally.

I have owned 2 pairs of Speed Goat 5's in the same size. The Speed Goat 6 is definitely smaller and tighter in the heal. The space at the bottom of the toe box was also tighter. Please order 1/2 size larger than normal and maybe wider as well.

Comfortable shoe with great traction. That being said I would prefer a little more pop and cushion perhaps out of the shoe. Feels a little bit flat along the trails. I may try the challenger GTX as it appears to maybe have those capabilities I listed above. Overall great quality shoe as usual from Hoka and I do enjoy running in it. Foot feels very secure and prevents a lot of rolling of the foot on these root stricken southeastern trails.
