Moab 3 GORE-TEX, is the ONLY shoe I have purchased in the past several years. I am a land surveyor in Maine and I wear these shoes every day in all seasons and all conditions. Don't be fooled by other imitations or substitutions, Moab GORE-TEX are the only ones that will keep your feet dry through-out the work day.

Broken in after only one day of use. Great shoe. The last pair I bought for work lasted just under three years. I am on my feet all day.

I have owned many pairs of Merrill shoes especially Moab series. I find them to be good medium weight hiking shoes that can be comfortably every day. I used to wear the Merrill Intercept until they disappeared. I loved them.
I'd also recommend:
Zamberlan, North Face

Barely outside warranty and the black material that wraps around the toe has cracked and is separating from both shoes.

Great shoe, a little small on the size however. Right big toe gets a little sore at 3mi. mark. Nice having dry feet after 5mi. of wet grass.

Warning - Do not buy these Moab 3 Gore-tex shoes. I have owned 10+ pairs of Merrell shoes and these are the worst quality ever. The heels are separating and causing a 'crunching' sound when walking in them - with not alot of wear. Merrell is not willing to help me replace them - I am down the drain $160. This company has declined and doesn't care about their customers any more - just profits. Look elsewhere for hiking shoes - there are plenty of good options like Keen and Columbia

Just bought this pair straight from Merrell. I love the Moab 3 shoes these are my first Gore-Tex shoes. Right out of box they fit great and feel nice. Nice light boot. I like the black color. I know this is a very early review and Im giving them 5 stars but Ive never been disappointed with Merrell.

This review is more about Merrell as a brand than the actual shoes, which are excellent. I had ordered the regular waterproof (not gore-tex) Moab 3s months ago, and the waterproofing failed. Merrell stood by their guarantee and sent me a brand new pair of Gore-Tex Moab 3s to replace them. The process was fairly easy and quick!

Lightweight, comfortable enough, waterproof enough. Being angle-height they're no good for deeper water but small streams and muddy trails in the mountains were no problem. Sometimes felt like the water got through but it must have just been the cold because my feet were still dry after checking.

I've owned many pairs of Moabs over the years. They're as comfortable as ever, but the suede in the Moab 3 isn't clean room approved. So I can take them everywhere except to work. Previous versions had an a compliant material.

This is my 2nd pair of Merrells. My other pair was the ankle high hiking version, but otherwise almost identical to the Moab3 Gortex I just bought. I go on hikes/walks daily with my dogs and so I put a lot of miles and over all types of terrain. So far I have hiked at about 80 miles in these along with other daily normal wear over about a month of having them. The shoes are very durable. The tread hold up very well (no visible sign of wear) and the tread/sole/base of these seem a bit stiffer than my other pair of Merrell hikers. I like that as it provides a bit more sure footedness. Not sure if they are any different, but they feel stiffer. I love the shoes, but the only thing I haven't particularly liked as much is the insoles, the inside cushioning of the shoe seem almost non-existent. Not much cushion there at all and feels too hard inside. I'm going to get some aftermarket insoles and put in and after that, I think they will be the perfect hiker. Too bad they don't have better insoles in them from the start, as if they did, they'd get a five star from me. I've used them in the snow, mud, on gravel and chat and also do a lot of woods hiking. They keep your feet dry and they can take any abuse you throw at them without getting torn up. Upgrade the insoles and you'll have a perfect shoe!

Nice boot but runs much snugger than normal Merrells. Salesperson said it's the goretex that makes it feel more snug. Normally an 8, tried that and the 8 1/2. Couldn't make it work.

Comfortable Shoe. Only had one day where it rained. Wasn't really enough to test the Gortex though. I bought for this trip and will save them only when I go on vacation. The only reason I didn't give a 5-Star was due to fabric bunching up above the heal. I didn't feel it, but believe they should do a better job of securing it to the liner or whatever is under it.

Took me a bit to find my fit in Merrills. Turns out I wear an 11 in Merrills but a 10.5 pretty much everywhere else. I recommend you order several sizes to find your fit, then return what doesnt work for you. The return process was very easy and the refund to my card was promptly made once the return was received and acknowledged.

These are great. Some previous reviewers suggested that with the Goretex Merrills you might want to go a half size larger than normal and that worked perfectly for me. Normally size 10, bought size 10 1/2, fit perfect.

These are normally my go-to hiking shoes. I must be on my fourth or fifth pair of Moabs. But this pair, that Ive had for less than a month, have been a disappointment. The front rubber toe guard has already separated from the top black portion of the shoe. This happened to the right shoe no more than a week after getting the shoes. Now, the left shoe is showing signs of the same. I still wear them everyday on my morning hikes and they still keep my feet dry while crossing the streams, but really, is this MERREL at its best?

My Merrills were great for hiking without having to break them in. They are supportive and comfortable and were able to grip the terrain I was hiking.both rock and gravel.
