I saw this backpack at a shop while vacationing in Iceland. I really liked the way it looked, so when I got home, I purchased one from Fjallraven online. I was a bit worried when the backpack arrived, because it appeared to be so small. Surprisingly, I was able to fit a LOT into this backpack! I love the way the zippers open all the way. I ordered the Ox Red and the color is lovely! What I didnt like was that I had to order the padded straps separately. At this price point, I think the padded straps should have been included. The backpack feels strong and sturdy. I pack a lot into this little bag and amazingly, when its on my back, it is not heavy at all! The weight is evenly distributed and I can wear the backpack for hours while walking or hiking. Overall, am very happy with this purchase.

I haven't had this bag on many adventures yet, but so far it seems great! It fits a lot of stuff, and I can easily put boxes out other pokey things on there without hurting my back (thanks to the seat cover). I like how far down the zippers can go, makes packing and unpacking very easy. It fits my back very nicely, without putting too much weight on my shoulders, like a usual bag would. Love!

I bought my Knken a few years ago to take it on a trip to Europe, and it was so worth it! I could fit everything i needed for the long plane trip, i used it on my day trips, the foam sit was very useful, and i even embroidered it. Very high quality, and lovely colors.

Dear Fjallraven Kanken bag buyers, I bought this bag five years ago. Since then, it has been my best companion. This bag and I have conquered wind, rain, and snow. This bag and I have conquered highschool football games and student government. This bag and I have conquered camping trips and long family vacations. I have had to name my bag because of the many days we've spent together. Its name is Fjally, so I will refer to it as so. Fjally is more than just a companion. It is a useful tool. Fjally has two major pockets. These pockets can fit anything from candy to shoes. This bag also has a computer slot, which is perfect for any highschoolers computer. The bag also has one more pocket. This pocket is used exclusively for my water bottle. All of these special accommodations make it perfect for any school day. Any highschooler should be honored to have this bag. I personally testify that this bag has changed my life and I know if you buy it, it can change yours too. BUYYYY ITTTTTT. It will change your life.

I've had my share of Knken backpack, both classic and laptop. I want to share my own personal experience after three years, going on four years of use with this product. First, the material. The material is great, it's unlike most other backpacks on the market today where they put a plastic coating in the interior that will flake after so many years. Thus why they have that plastic smell when they're new unlike the Knken. It's been through Vegas heat, Northern Utah rain and heavy Idaho snow among other conditions and it has taken the challenge through and through. Having said that, these bags aren't going to protect your things if it fell in a river or something but the water resistance it provides is quite impressive. When you first buy one, please do not throw away the foam insert. This is a seat pad and it actually keeps the bag shaped more sturdy to me not to mention it provides more comfort to my back. I use my bags primarily for everyday carry. A place to keep my basic things I would carry in my pocket, wallet, phone, keys. Having said that, I have seen it work well as a bag for university. I will suggest buying the strap pads, they do provide a level of comfort if you do decide to carry quite a bit. As for washing, it's very basic and the material tends to dry quickly in the correct conditions. For the price, it does seem more expensive but it's worth the investment. The attention to detail from the materials, stitching, and hardware is top tier. You really are getting your money's worth. If your still unsure, I will suggest doing what I did the first time and buy one second hand, but beware of counterfeits. If you like it after so many months, buy one new!

The material is pretty stiff. Maybe it needs to be worn some. The side pockets aren’t big enough to fit water bottles. It looks small, but surprisingly very roomy and spacious to hold books, iPad, lunch box and a small jackets or sweater. It’s very stylish and cute.

Love this backpack. It is great for every day use; can fit a jacket, water bottle, wallet comfortably. Does not have a laptop compartment, though. The backpack has a waterproof coating so make sure you don't wash it in the washing machine; I did and it took away some of the waterproofness.

Bought this for my almost 12 year old daughter who cannot use a traditional backpack for school. Straps need to be less than one inch, limiting her to one of those shoe string backpacks which was wreaking havoc on her shoulders. This solved both issues. A little pricey in my honest opinion. I just hope it goes the distance.

I really like the style of this backpack. It is lightweight but can easily get heavy if you carry too many things. I have a tendency of filling my bags to the top and then regretting it. Whether heavy or not, the straps tend to be comfortable and not dig in the shoulders. The zipper is a bit difficult to open at times. The fabric is water resistant. The color is subtle and not too flashy. Overall, I highly recommend this backpack for daily use or day trips, even a “parent” bag used to carry toys. ??

Thought I’d try something different. I like it but don’t love the backpack. It’s a little small for what I need everyday but I’m definitely keeping it for quick trips! Sturdy but very soft fabric.

This is as adorable as expected. I bought it for my first grader and I love it every time I see it. The straps could be more comfortable. I'm still considering ordering the cushioned strap attachment that Fjallraven sells. Luckily, he's six so he doesn't yet have to carry a bunch of books or anything that would weigh it down. Adjusting the straps is a little confusing, and extensive youtube and google searches didn't help much. We adjusted them eventually but I'm still not certain that it's been done correctly. The fabric is great and durable. I love that it is water resistant given that we live in the rainy Pacific Northwest.

Ordered this for my high schooler. It looks great but the straps are very thin and the bag is very small. This bag is a great fashion bag for day to day but not what I would recommend for a student.

My daughter wanted this backpack so badly for the new year. She's petite for 13, about 90 pounds and 4'11. I was skeptical because of the size. However, the reviews are correct, it can fit much more than it looks. She got all of her new school supplies in it with room to spare. It opens to a much wider backpack than you'd expect. She loves that they straps are smaller and more comfortable. She says that the thick straps tend to rub into the side of her neck since she's smaller. Great quality. Very impressed. I'd would have given 5 star for overall if a bit bigger. I just like big stuff!

I've wanted a Fjallraven for a few years, and I am very happy with it so far. It holds a decent amount of stuff, and was comfortable to carry on my back for several hours. My only complaints are that the water bottle pockets aren't quite large enough, and obviously the price is steep. I agree with other reviews that say it is a bit stiff, but I'm sure it will break in after more use. It seems well made, and I'm hoping the price just means it will last a long time!

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
This backpack is mostly perfect. It's a great sizeâ??not too bulky, but it fits a lot. It's surprisingly comfortable, it has the right number of compartmentsâ??enough that I have options, but not so many that I forget what pocket I put stuff in. Also, I get compliments on this backpack all the time. Two complaints: 1. The back padding shimmies up and out of it designated area. It'd be nice if it were somehow secured inside the bag. 2. After about six months of daily use, the inside seams are starting to unravel, so the threads get caught in the zippers. The seams aren't compromisedâ??they're still sturdy. It's just a bit of a nuisance to have threads getting in the way of the zipper.

I'm very pleased with this backpack. It was smaller than I expected, not a traditional backpack size but that is what I was looking for. I'm short, so I didn't want something too bulky. The straps could be more supportive, I find if I carry anything heavy that they start to dig in to my shoulders. But it comfortable to carry like a tote with the handles on top too. I'm using this like a purse, I always carry a book or two with me and wanted some extra room. Overall great purchase!

I purchased this for my young adult daughter, and she loves it. We love how the red straps pop on the black cloth. It is a minimalist bag--kind of a throw-back to backpacks in the 70s. If you want a full-featured bag, look elsewhere, but if you enjoy a simple and stylish bag, this is very nice.

A very cute backpack but unfortunately it's not very comfortable for trekking around town. The straps are thin and dig into the shoulders if it's even slightly heavy. It's great if you don't put much inside but other than that it's quite uncomfortable. A shame because the look and color is great!

Bought it for the style. If you want super durable, and high quality, go for the pricier Kranken 2. The sand color is actually much darker than on the picture (more like a brown). It seems small at first but when I compared it to a standard JanSport, it is about the same. There is a piece of foam in the back that you can keep or remove, it is not a built in padding. Gets a lot of attention!

the color is beautiful and exactly what I was looking for, but it's quite thin and flimsy and the material it's made out of feel quite cheap, I was expecting a way better quality backpack tbh.

Super cute, well made, simple and modern. Love that it's sustainable. However, the one issue I can't get passed is the straps. They are inadequate, cheap, and quite frankly, a cop out. The backpack can hold substantial weight (text books for example), but the straps then dig into your shoulders. It's actually very disappointing to pay this much only to have a major component of the bag turn out to be garbage. Also, if you adjust the straps smaller, there is no place to tuck in the excess straps at the bottom so they just stick out. Tying them doesn't really work either; too stiff.
