I'll start off by saying that overall, the pack works fine for what I normally use it for. That is small weekend trips where it's not on my back for long periods of time. Plus the bag is handsome as any I've seen in this category. Where my problem lies is the straps. They are incredibly thin and uncomfortable in every way. I typically travel very minimally but even a laptop and an extra layer will start aggravating my shoulders after a few hours of wear. Heavy or not, extended wear of the bag is really uncomfortable. But for light wear to and from the office the bag works just fine and gets plenty of compliments. Just hoped I could also use it for one bag travel.

I bought this backpack with hiking in mind and never realized it wasn't tailored towards hiking, although Osprey always has comfort in mind. The back airflow panel works great when the pack is adjusted properly. Ive used this pack for all of my day hikes, including camera and drone equipment, as well as multiple quick solo overnight backpack trips. No it doesn't have side pockets but I don't need them anyways.

I use this backpack for the everyday commute. I take it to the office with all my stuff, everything fits, and there is more space for snacks and coffee bags when returning home. I used to carry a backpack that didn't allow me to put my jacket; Topros was my salvation; every single thing goes secure and dry in it. I love how comfortable it is and the excellent materials they used in it. At first sight, I thought it was huge, I was used to carrying a 27 liters backpack, but at the very beginning, it felt well suited for my body. I only wish to have more internal storage features. Excellent bag, excellent materials, awesome guaranty. :)

I have own the TROPOS for over two years. It is an invaluable asset. I use it as a carry-on during travel. Due to it ability to stand, lifting and control are the best I have ever experienced. Photography and mobile office. When hiking, as a day pack, always have enough space. Exterior pockets are outstanding for beverages.

Whether I am going to work, traveling, or hiking through the woods, I use this bag daily, and I could not be happier with it. The floating sleeve keeps my laptop from hitting the ground when I put the bag down, and the two larger compartments are just the right size for other daily-use items. I took this bag on a five-day trip and was able to fit all the clothes and toiletries I would need without issue. It even fits nicely into an overhead bin. The well-padded shoulder straps in conjunction with the frame and back panel make even the heaviest loads easy to handle for extended periods of time. The compression straps on the sides help keep everything inside the pack compressed and the top shoulder straps allow you to adjust where the pack sits on your back. The customization allows the bag to sit comfortably in every circumstance I have encountered.
The only (extremely minor) issue with this pack that I've found so far is the need to unclip/reclip the compression strap buckles if you need to get into the bigger pockets, but even that can be mitigated by proper packing and planning.
Overall, I am extremely happy with this pack and would recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality, versatile backpack.

Had this day pack since early June (custom ordered in Kraken Blue which I love!) and have loved everything about it. Even the small organizers are well thought out in design and have a stirdy flap to help you open them up.
Laptop compartment is accessible independently from the main storage comaprtment, which is so handy for quick access for setting up. It's a huge pocket and able to fit my 15" with its sleeve on, and is elevated off the bottom for extra protection.
I love that it's got the kickstand to keep the backpack always upright.
Hip strap is detachable, which I have currently off, even for short hikes. The back of the pack stays very cool even during hikes. Straps got a little sweaty but they dried quickly and my back was much less sweaty than with my old TNF Bigshot pack.
One down side I have is that the water bottle pockets on the sides doesn't have much stretch at all and I can't fit my larger insulated water bottles in them. So I just use top compression straps feed it through it's handle and then put it in one of the lower compression straps when hiking and it stays put.
Front sretch pocket fits tons in it as well with Velcro'ed top with a central zip with a bottom lip inside that prevents your little goodies from falling out when fully open.
I have always wanted a day pack from Osprey for work and everyday use, and I'm glad I waited for this one. Looks a lot more mature design than the older Tropos 32L too imo. Solid exterior and main top handle feels like it'll last a lifetime.

I use this pack primarily for the office and travel; great carry-on bag. Lots of highly useful pockets. Laptop sleeve is great. Changes I would make:
-convert water bottle pockets to a zipper closer and enlarge them; they don't hold anything larger than 16 oz; larger bottles fall out.
-add a trolley-sleeve so I can place this bag on my roller.
-the organizer pocket should not go all the way to the bottom of the bag; when the bag is packed anything on the bottom of this pocket is almost impossible to retrieve because it is compressed.
-be able to hide the waist straps
-modify the kickstand because it sometimes grinds into hips/back

I got the TROPOS for my daily commute to work. Judging the pictures I was worried that it will be too big - but it is turned out to be the perfect size and not bulky at all. I bring my big Laptop, plus lunch, plus workout cloth/shoes. On my way home I get groceries and they also fit. Amazing! Although I carry a heavy load, it feels very comfortable on my back, thanks to the well padded shoulder straps and the framework. Very impressive.
I agree with the issues mentioned in the reviews already:
1) There is only one single front zipper and it is covered by the upper compression strap. I often find myself leaving the zipper partially open rather than reaching around the strap.
2) There is no way to hide away loose straps (belt, compression, shoulder)
3) The kickstand appears to be too long as it causes my backpack to flip backwards.
It am a big fan of the mash. The main pocket opens widely and provides good access. The zippers are sturdy.

I am an avid traveller and have over 10 Osprey bags (and many more from other brands). The 2019 version is professional looking, well sized, and comfortable to wear even in hot SE Asia weather thanks to the mesh suspension. I really wanted to love this bag, but there are a few problems for me:
1. The pocket in the top front section has a single zipper slider instead of double. This is a bit of a hassle for me because the zipper runs down almost halfway down the bag. I've order some "instant zipper sliders" to solve this issue myself.
2. The compression straps cover the single zipper pocket mentioned above, so in order to unzip that pocket, I'd have to first undo both compression straps. Now I'm just using the bag with the compression straps tucked away because they're such a hassle.
3. The adjustable straps are very long in order to fit different body sizes, but they tend to get caught on stuff and fly around. I've added a bunch of black hair-ties to hold them down.

The 2019 Tropos is a good backpack, but it's not great like the 2018 version. This is a comparative review of the two versions.
GOOD
-All-black exterior looks more professional then the 2018 version (which had grey accents)
-Raised laptop sleeve, unlike 2018 version
-Airscape works well, just like the 2018 version
-Kickstand for both versions is a nice feature
-Tuck-away compression straps are good in theory. But as a train and metro commuter, I'll always want my backpack to be as small as possible (whether carrying a light *or* heavy load) to make sure I don't bump into too many other people before I've had a chance to take if off. In the end I always have the compression straps exposed anyway
BAD
-The 2019 version doesn't stand up as steadily as the 2018 version
-Dark interior makes it more difficult to find items inside the pack (2018 version had a light grey interior)
-Organizer pocket still has the top row of pockets, but they removed the bottom row of pockets found in the 2018 version. This means more items schlump to the bottom in a messy pile.
-Zippers don't feel as smooth
-One zipper pull for organizer pocket (2018 version had two zipper pulls)
-Compression straps cover the zipper to the organizer pocket which wasn't the case in the 2018 version. It's now harder to get into that pocket, which I go into often (instead of just unzipping like before, I can either 1) force my hand underneath the compression strap and clumsily grab at the single zipper pull, or 2) undo each compression strap, then then unzip the pocket.)
-No place to hold the shoulder strap tighteners. On the 2018 version each shoulder strap had two elastic pieces. On each shoulder strap, one of those pieces was high up on the shoulder strap. I could tuck the tighteners into them to keep them held down. On the 2019 version, they removed the higher-up elastic piece. Now there's nothing to hold the tighteners, so I have two floppy straps that look unsightly and blow around in the wind.

I've been super happy with my 2018 Tropos for use an every day backpack for continuous business travel. I love the kickstand feature keeping my bag upright when I'm sitting around airport waiting areas. After several years of use, the Tropos is still in amazing shape. That being said, I was recently considering an upgrade to the latest model, and I was disappointed in several areas: The removal of interior organization pockets, the removal of accessory loops on the front outside of the bag, and some adjustments to the straps on the bag. With the loss of these features, this is no longer may go-to travel bag. Please bring back these items.
