Used the Elixer as my only footwear to hike the Magnificent 5 National Parks in Utah. No pain or fatigue during our 6 day, 8-10 miles per day vacation. Fantastic grip on the rocks during a 7-hour canyoneering trip. No odor or moisture build-up either. I will be purchasing hiking shoes from Salomon again.

I recently took a pair of the Elixir low cut on a hike of the 300 mile Cambrian Way which follows the length of wales via the mountainous backbone. I experienced pretty much all the terrain the uk has to offer and all the weather (apart from snow) It was a great place to test them out I found the Rcamber gave a smooth ride and the energyfoam sole saved me from getting a bruised heel from jumping over a wall and landing heel first on a pointy rock. The tread is grippy and the fit is comfortable and supportive. The active chassis kept my feet landing how they should and never tweaked my ankle. Even after long days my feet never felt beat up. Would i use them again for long distance backpacking? probably not, as the goretex lining and less mesh meant the shoes took longer to dry then what i normally use (ultraglides) which ate into my daily milage having to take breaks to air my feet, change socks and dry them out. But i will definitely use them for day hikes, peak bagging and hut2hut adventures. they are also heavier then what I am used to but in my opinion the comfort and support they offer is a worthy trade for the extra weight. they also look pretty awesome..

Very comfortable and excellent support! The size now conforms to standard sizing. The width is not D - Salomon marks it as Regular, which I think is closer to C. Great traction so far. I will review them again after I hike on stone and loose rocks. Great for walking - increases my pace.

I ended up going up a half size in this. It feels comfortable, stable and well-cushioned.

Some reviewers complained these were too narrow which suited me as I have narrow feet and ankles. They turned out to be a perfect fit and I liked the choice of colours. They have been fine on walks. Great buy!

Very comfortable. Have used it for hiking on roadways and trails with a variety of footing. Rocks, roots, trees and water. Up and down steep terrain with no slippage on any terrain. Had a foot problem that i got fixed and once i started using this shoe i have not had to limit anything Ive done with no recurrence! Getting another pair and i highly recommend.

As you can tell they're a little scuffed up because I waited almost a week to give a review but I couldn't wait any longer these are by far the BEST shoes I have bought. 1. As far as comfortability, the shoes were a perfect fit straight out the box. (Didn't have to "break in") 2. WATERPROOF ???? Is this real?? YES IT IS I purposely put my foot in water (1 1/2in) ALSO, poured water from the top of shoe now I did feel the coldness A LITTLE from the water obviously but my foot was NOT WET ! 3. Support? Most definitely!! The way the sole is designed just makes walking not only easier but more efficient. I feel like I have grip 4. Style- Just an all around wonderful designed shoe that protects your feet from the cold weather and water. Definitely recommend 10/10 ALL DAY! ****Also this is a real review, not paid or anything. If you don't believe me check my ig at ' pbjpoolservices ' ***

I love this shoe. This is perfect for rough terrain and off-road running. Also cushion is relaxing and pushing forward while walking.

A month in and my average daily walk of 10 miles over variable terrain has been effortlessly. Cushioning is exceptional and no heel stress whatsoever... I have worn Salomon for years and these are by far,for my usage, best to date.

I purchased these a couple of weeks ago. Very comfortable and great support. I might even get the mid boot version as well.

I'm usually between a 10.5 and 11, the 11 fit better but a bit on the loose side, I had to add a foot liner to make them snug. They are a heavy duty hiking shoe, much more structure than a trail runner.

I haven't given them an all day test yet, but so far they have performed really well. I've got wide-ish feet butwent for the standard fit and they still feel a tad wide. If you've got narrow feet these may not be right for you. Love the support and they look to be built well. I've got the x-ultra 04 and they feel a lot stiffer than these, not sure if that will be a good or bad thing for all day walks

The Salomon Elixir with Gore Tex feel great from the time you put them on. The more I wear them the better they feel. These are a great every day shoe. The real white leather on the rear of the shoe really class them up. These are a great solid shoe that can serve you well walking, hiking or even work.

I was skeptical because reviews were very mixed on these.. but I ended up loving them. I have a hard to fit foot and supinate (walk on the outside of my feet) so finding a shoe that works is tough. I work in research and new product development at a plant nursery, so I needed a good water proof shoe that was comfortable for long hours in the fields and green houses. These definitely fit the bill. I find myself picking these to wear more then any thing else.

I have been wearing Salomons for over 25 years, one of my favorite brands. Comfortable fit and light, breathable and waterproof. This pair I bought through the website without trying them on. Mistake. My feet were uncomfortably hot, and for the first time my socks and the insoles had a sour smell after walking. I had to remove the insoles after each use and hand wash them. Not convenient while traveling abroad. I would not recommend this shoe for weather above freezing.

love the overall look and style of the elixir but upon wearing for a week it was uncomfortable. at first i thought maybe I just needed to break them in but even after several wears, it was more and more uncomfortable each day. i tried taking out the insole but did not help either. i even tried replacing it with a thinner insole but that did not help. overall, the fit is horrible and the toe box designed poorly, or perhaps meant for narrow feet!

I did not want this shoe, for several reasons that are not really important. What is important to me is the delivery of the product and eventually its return. It takes forever. For a shoe that cost on average usd 150 the "Free Shipping" is awful !!! Better to buy from any other seller that offer real free shipping and real return .

I really tried to like these shoes. Really tried. Bought them for a trip out west to do some desert and mountain treks and general walking around. Halfway through I switched back to my worn out Merrells. For the price the Salomons should have carried me effortlessly through hill and dale. Instead my feet never felt comfortable, the shoes hot and crampy. Plus the soles are so darn thick I had to alter my gait to keep from scuffing the ground with each step. I hiked 12 miles over a variety of trails to give them a fair trial. Unfortunately theyll be relegated to expensive gardening shoes when I finish my vacation.

Have two pairs, had and have worn regularly for about two months. Find them to be very comfortable and supportive. Thus far the durability looks fine. I have had an issue that they "click" when walking indoors on solid floors.
