Currently wearing my ThunderCross GoreTex on a three week trip through Europe. Rain= no problem Mud= no problem easy clean-up= no problem. I only brought one pair of shoes for the trip and they are proving to be the only shoe I need. Even wore them on the sacred Omaha beach. Happy with this purchase.

I bought these shoes to have a Goretex shoe for walking around the city in the rain/snow but that could also be used for hiking/trail running. I've worn them pretty much every day since I bought them, using them in rain, snow, mud, etc., and they've been perfect.
They feel surprisingly light. Even with the boxy design (which I like) and the treads, I don't really notice them. Granted, Im used to wearing boots, but I don't feel like these are much heavier feeling than the speedtrax or other similar shoes.
The treads are surprisingly discrete. I don't feel them at all while walking, and they helped me stop from slipping on ice. They're large enough to be helpful but don't take away from the ability to wear them as a daily walking shoe.
Only "complaint" is that they're really narrow and take a while to break in. I ordered a half size up and prob could still to a size up because they're very, very narrow. I pretty much can't tighten them down at all or they suffocate my feet. It also took a solid two weeks to break the sole in, but it's comfortable now

Surprised that a 13 fits me - but it feels true to size. These shoes aren't wide, but this particular model isn't narrow either - nicely in between. I really like these shoes.

I ran 100 miles in a Backyard race in late April. Due to excessive snowmelt and rainfall, the course was moved to a mixture of grass/dirt, several inches of standing water/mud, and about two miles on pavement. I wore a pair of Speedcross 5 GTX and told everyone that I loved the traction and Gore-Tex, but I wished for more cushioning like the Ultra Glides I've worn in other races.
This is that shoe, and it's fantastic.
My (female) significant other got a pair of of the non-GTX Thundercross and went down half a size from what she wears in the Speedcross, but I ordered my regular size. The fit is more relaxed (she describes them as "not as slipper-like"), and it's noticeable visually that they're wider than the Speedcross. I wore them out of the box on a 5 hour trail run in 76f/24c weather on a rocky and rooty trail and while my feet were warm, it wasn't overwhelming. No hot spots, no blisters, and that's about all you can hope for from a new pair of shoes.
The styling reminds me (in a positive way) of a LL Bean duck boot, I think because of shape of the toe cap. The orange stripe on the "Flint Stone" color is a nice pop of color.
These were a warranty replacement for another brand new Salomon model that shall remain nameless and I was a little concerned about trying a new model again, but these are just a fantastic shoe. I wanted a Speedcross with more cushioning. This is that shoe and it's fantastic.

Worn Sal for a very long time. Speed six has been my go to but they don't last as long as I would like. Giving these a shot. Goretex works good. Turkey hunted mid morning in them and feet were dry with gators on. Fit is same as all Sal. Feels like there is a heel drop or neutral heel. Cant tell but its different from Speed series. Not saying its bad, just different. Very cushiony, if thats a thing. Really good product.

These are truly the all weather and winter sneakers I've always needed. I live in subzero weather for half the year and these are amazing. Super comfortable and the grip is just the best. I'll likely be buying a few colorways of these. Truly great shoe!

these shoes are great from the wide toe base to snug fit around my foot to the cushion soles. I would say these combine the speedcross to the ultra glide. great shoes. So much so I bought a non water prop par too.

I always need a pair of Salomon trail running shoes in my closet. Every new pair is better than the last pair even though the last pair was 5. I need arch support to wear shoes frequently. Salomon shoes give me that support right out of the box! No need for inserts. I like the trail runners for comfort, looks, durability and they are waterproof! This is my third pair over the last 10 years. They start out as my go to shoes and finish their life as my around the house comfort shoe. I particularly like the special laces that tuck into the top of the tongue leaving a clean look with the laces stored away. If you need light weight hikers with arch support Salomon trail runners are the best! Get some! You won't regret it!

The Salomon UltraGlide has been my go-to mountain ultra trail shoe for the past year or so. Love the balance of cushion and stability (cush w/o the mush), but was wanting more grip. When the Thundercross came along, I was excited to give them a try as they have similar cushioning specs.
I've been using my Thundercross GTX on snowy trails with and without running snowshoes in the High Rockies of Colorado and they're exactly what I'm looking for. Comfortable level of cushioning, mild rocker shape and an adequately roomy toebox, which provides amble wiggle and swell room for my average width feet.
Love them so far and look forward to putting many trail miles on them!

These have been great for hiking in the slush and snow. I have not had the chance to go running in them yet due to weather- but they feel very comfortable walking and hiking and definitely more cushioning than some previous Salomon shoes I have had. Fit is great- plenty of toe box width- no odd sensation of heel drop or forward propel- very solid and stable platform.

I'm a bigger guy who likes to hike and love these shoes. The sole is very padded but also feels very stable which is my main complaint about Hoka's. I wear them almost every day and have worn them hiking and they get excellent grip. I wear them in snow and ice without any complaints. Great shoe, I will definitely buy more!

The fit is perfect. I normally run in 11 in other brands and my first pair is Salomon fits great. I only have a few runs on them and no hot spots or issues which makes me very happy. I bought these for snowy trail runs and I am still waiting for good deep snow, add more snow to your prayers please

I'm around 40 miles in of hiking/running in this shoe in winter weather and it's been nothing short of amazing! I highly recommend it. The wider toe box has been everything I can ask for. I get a great fit with the speed laces and never need to make adjustments. This is the perfect blend that Salomon stated it would be. I also got the ultra glide 2 and kind of wish I Got the non gortex thundercross instead

Has almost everything I was looking for: waterproof, mud proof, quick lace, good traction, cushioned for hard surfaces, comfortable, rugged with protected sides and a 4mm drop. I was looking for zero drop but 4mm isn't terrible. Maybe someday Salomon will make a shoe like this with zero drop. But still the best all around trail running shoe I've had. Bought another pair.

Been walking on these for a month now.
Like:
Energy foam mid sole makes it very comfortable on basically any terrain.
Waterpproof goretex keeps the shoes dry.
Nicely made seams which look to be durable. So far so good, will revisit after a year.
Excellent grip even walking fast in the rai.
Perfect fit that shapes to my feet with roomy toe space.
Dislike: (hopefully next version can improve)
Took time to break in the stiffness. For me, it was about 2 weeks.
Goretex doesn't keep warm. The toe area is cold. I even put my fingers in it to attest the cold retains in there.
The pocket lays underneath the last lace loop making it difficult to tuck the lace toggle pieces into.

So in the weeks I have had my pair, I've put over 120 miles on them officiating soccer matches.
The length of the lugs are wonderful! They're handling wet conditions easily. Not sure about super muddy conditions yet.
The fit is pretty good. I like how the upper stretches to form fit the top of the foot. The toe box is a little narrow for me ( a wide toe box like altra has would make these shoes a crowning achievement.)
The drop between the heel and forefoot is definitely nice.( and alternative for a zero drop would be a good change because it would help more runner types)
The quick lace system doesn't always stay tied. You really have to make sure its fastened down snuggly or the tension piece with let tension out( I'm still not taking any points off because the shoe is staying at the desired tightness now. Just something I noticed)
A longer lug length would help my use greatly. Maybe a 7 mm lug next ?
Anyway , in summary, even with some of the concerns, I really like the shoe and would easily recommend a pair to anyone who needs a comfortable trail running shoe.

So far really liking this new shoe. It's a nice blend of speed cross and ultra glide. I am a trail only user and would like to see more of a speed cross tread with the fit and cushion of ultra glide and this gets it.
