Genuinely amazing product for the winter. The Beta pants combine versatility, warmth, and water proofing all in one, providing a perfect compact shell layer for your journey. As a 5'9 athletic build, I purchased an M, which fit a tiny bit long, but perfect with shoes on. The zippers on the side are SO stylish and useful for taking them off, or ventilating your legs or underneath layers. These pants are thin and agile, and are FULLY waterproof. I have gone skiing and have played in the snow many times with them on, and they have kept my legs and bum fully warm and dry, despite sitting in the snow for hours at a time. I seriously don't know how Arc'teryx does this, but they do, and I love it. These beta pants are truly works of art, and for this price point, they are FULLY worth it. Paired with an Arc'teryx Atom hoody, beta insulated, alpha, or beta shell, you will be leaving the ski resort fully warm and dry after a full day of skiing, while looking so sexy, athletic, and stylish. Best quality and best looks out there for any type of pants. FULLY recommend, and I am fully happy with this purchase.

Amazing pants and great replacement for my ripped Beta AR. These feel a lot lighter and less baggy which is better for not catching crampons, and also the added full zipper so you can have them in your pack and use them only if you need them for climbing.
I also like the lack of buttons for saving weight.
Great simple piece !

It'll look better if it had a straight from top to bottom version, which will basically become street wear.

bought these Beta pants for their functionalities. these are the one and only quality Gor with 'full length zip' AND they are available in shorter inseams
probably the most versatile and taylored inseam money could buy I plan to to carry them during my winter outings and multi day trek as an element barrier

Whether or not you love these pants will probably come down to fit. The drawstring at the waist is pretty useless as other reviewers have pointed out. There is a stiffener sewn into the front of the waist band that seems to prevent the string from doing any meaningful tightening.
In my case the pants fit me like a glove and therefore I give them 5 stars. I love the fact that they come in three lengths. I'm a size short. These are not just two fabric tubes joined by a seat area like some less expensive pants. They have a trim fit and articulated knees which make them comfortable enough for all-day wear. The full-length side zips curve gently towards the front at the bottom for easy access. Plus the three ply gore-tex is bomber without being too heavy or bulky.
I wore these pants on two outings this summer/fall. The first was on a climb of Mount Baker. The weather was good for most of the trip so they were in my pack and I only wore them on summit day. They were very comfortable for climbing and not too bulky for under my gaiters. And I was not bemoaning the weight or space in my pack when I wasn't wearing them. The second was a two-day, 21 mile backpacking trip in the Olympics on which it rained most of the hours we were hiking. I wore these pants for every hour of that trip I was not in the tent. I was dry and comfortable without feeling overly warm from the waist down.
If I were to suggest a few design improvements they would be the following: It would be nice to have one zip pocket for a phone or other items you need handy (the pants have no pockets). I always like the pocket on the side of the upper thigh area. This is tricky with a full side zip, but do you really need a full side zip? How about 2/3? To address the drawstring issue, how about two Velcro tabs on the sides of the waist?
ArcTeryx products are expensive, but a lifetime of outdoor adventuring has taught me that quality gear can enhance your outdoor experience. The best apparel is the apparel you don't think about when you are wearing it. It moves with you and keeps you comfortable, letting your mind focus on the task or experience at hand. That is the experience I have had with these pants.

These are more expensive than other gore tex pants but they're worth the extra money. They are very light and flexible. The fit is fantastic, they look like regular pants when wearing. One caveat - for me they run small so if you're between sizes definitely size up.

I bought this last year and so far have been only satisfied with those pants. It's easy to pull on even while wearing your boots. Repells water well if you keep the DWR in good condition. I did a little bit of climbing and they performed well too. The only thing that could use some improvement would be tightening the waistline - there are laces but it's a bit uncomfortable to tie them up if you are already wearing a shell jacket

Awesome hiking rain pants for the dreaded rainy days. Ultra light weight and packable to keep your gear light. Very durable fabric to prevent from ripping from trees and rocks. Full zipper sides allows you to keep your shoes on while you quickly slide into your rain gear. The fit is very comfortable.

I use these pants hiking in the Canadian Rockies. I live near Banff Alberta and you have to have the best gear when you go out. I love the fit. They fit me perfectly. Im 6 2 195 lbs. 34 waist and a 33 inseam. I chose a large regular and was not disappointed. Full length zippers are awesome when putting them on with hiking boots on. Breathability is great. They fold up fairly small in my backpack and will be with me on all my hikes. Highly recommend.

The fit is a little confusing. It's supposed to be worn over pants. the waist is wide while it is tighter at the legs.

Wanted a pant that was easy to get on quickly when caught in an unsuspected rain shower on the trail. With the full side zips it is easy to put these on without removing your hiking boots! I have a 32-33 waist with a 30in inseam and the medium /short was the perfect size for me. I have worn them just over shorts and have layered them over jeans as well. They are comfortable and fit well with the articulated leg construction. The GoreTex material appears durable and I hope to get many years of use from these pants!

I wore these pants for my 70k trail race (Wild Strubel 70k by UTMB) this September in Switzerland. It was snowing, wet and cold that day and I stayed dry and warm during the race. It's super easy to put them on or take them off as well due to the full size zippers which matters when you are running a race. No need to take your shoes off especially it's muddy and wet. Highly recommend if you need water and wind proof pants running in cold and wet condition.

I called in about sizing for these pants and was advised that they dont come in Tall sizes. A week later ArcTeryx had them released in tall and I snapped them up. Light, fight nicely, and can cover base layer, fleece, or blue jeans perfectly!

I bought these and returned them. The side snaps - one on each side - are not retentive enough to stay closed when trying to reach into the pocket of pants worn underneath. There should be two snaps per side. (The same is true of the Alpha pants, though the snaps' being inside the waist-band renders them somewhat more retentive.) In addition, the belt-tightening system involves only the front panel, which doesn't really work all that well. (Again the Alpha pants do something similar, but it works enough better that I kept them, having ordered them after returning the Betas.)

Bought these as an emergency shell for mountaineering. The full zips a great but the cuffs are too narrow to zip closed over mountaineering boots (or my snowboard boots). Would be good, if not a little overkill, for basic hiking or standard rain pants. But for anything requiring footwear bigger than a standard hiking boot, fit may be an issue. Won't work for me so will be returning.

I haven't had a chance to use these yet, but wanted to leave this here in case this is helpful for others (tl;dr: try 'em on if you can. Sizing is not straightforward and your use-case matters):
I live in an area where I don't have the opportunity to try these on at a retail location, so went through several attempts to get the sizing right. For reference - I wear a size medium in regular length (32" inseam) in *almost everything*, including all other arcteryx pants that I own. I'm 43, 5' 10" (178cm), and typically somewhere between 165 and 170 lbs (75-77kg) with a middle aged athletic build - no six-pack here, but I'm no slouch either. My actual waist measurement is around 35" (89cm) at the time of this review, which puts me on the upper end of Medium in the sizing chart, but still a couple inches short of the Large. My use case is that these will primarily be layered over a light to mid-weight softshell pant in cold & wet conditions. (Typically a pair of gamma lt pants or similar pieces from other brands, which fit comfortably in a size M, regular length.)
I tried size Medium/Regular (too long and not enough room to layer underneath), Large/Regular (just too long), and I finally settled on the Large/Short inseam. I do have to cinch the drawstring a bit, but not an excessive amount. This also gives me a bit of a buffer for bulkier/additional layers underneath if needed. (The drawstring *does* work, pull them away from each other as noted in another review here somewhere....). These also seem to be sized longer than I'd expect - with the regular length being absurdly long for me, even with boots on. I was nervous that the short inseam would be too short, but it turns out to be just about perfect. For me, the Medium would have worked over a light baselayer, but for the way I want to use these, I wasn't confident the Medium would work. YMMV.
The sizing is a bit weird, and I don't love the snap closure at the waist, but after lots of research these were the best option for a relatively lightweight, full zip, 3 layer gore-tex pant. Fingers crossed that the bit of extra room in the waist also prevents some of the issues with the snaps coming un-done that others have commented on. (Haven't experienced this yet, but as I said above, they also haven't left the house....)

great waterproof pants, fit was quite relaxed even with a layer under the pants, Although I am 185cm I still opted to go with the short variant because I found the regular length longer then I preferred. and the lack of pockets was a concern at first but got used to it after some time.

I both this pant a month ago and had them in heavy rain, and they worked perfect!
The only thing you should think of, is the sizing, its not like the old ones, that a M was pretty big/loose fit, this M is a normal M.
