I bought this and the Proton version. I like the extra insulation of the Proton and the exterior material and the fit other than the front which sits a bit higher than the Atom. I also find the hood of the Atom is much larger than the Proton. More than is needed for a helmet. The Atom is a bit looser at the waist hem and sleeves seem a bit baggy to me. Definitely more a casual fit. It has a bit of noisier Denier material too. I'm quite torn between the two only because I have a black Atom and a Bordeaux color Proton. If it was black I'd go Proton. Just seems like a better fitting robust jacket but Atoms good too for the casual wear. Both are great for shoulder season weather and are comfortable to wear. Longevity seems at risk too with the material and the fleece panels compared to Proton. First world problems.

I was buying my 2nd Atom LT (now just the Atom Hoody) and ordered the "revised" version in the Pytheas color. I had to return the Pytheas - the brightly colored logo on the left front chest is much brighter (obnoxiously so) than what is represented via the on-line photo. I will be reordering in the Smoke bluff (modest logo on the chest). This is a very versatile lite out layer and a good mid layer. Breaths well as it is designed. Not built for high winds so don't expect that one. I like most of the revisions contained in this 2023 version from my 2019 version. Of course I don't like the higher price and getting close to my price tolerance level. The pulls on the hem are improved and less bulky. The added space in the torso (slight) allows for a layer without feeling bloated. I'm still unsure about the added visor to the hood......that pokes the back of my head when the top is down. Not sure what you did but a good adjustment to new cuffs....easier access to my watch. The outer fabric (while branded as the same) seems a little more durable. Finally, the zipper (different pulls) is improved and stays in place. The Atom hoody (LT) has been excellent and IMHO has been improved. 5+ stars. If we could add one thing: could use an exterior chest pocket for a cell phone but this is a minor issue.

I wear this exclusively as a mid-layer for skiing in cold New England conditions. It breathes very well. Combined with a light baselayer and a Rush shell, I find it provides just the right warmth and is not bulky-feeling

How come the size small of the black version of atom sl from neck to bottom is 27 inch, the black version of this is only 26 inch. Arm pit is too tight.

The Atom Hoodie seems to be of good quality. However, the size increase for the Large from 42" to 43" chest makes the jacket a bit baggy and might put me off purchasing other products. I have great sympathy for people who have purchased generations of the Atom, only to find that they now slip between sizes. I suppose there's a lot more focus now on the leisure market and a need for bigger sizes. My other negative was that the jacket was shipped from Germany to the UK and was delayed by a strike. It's a long way to ship a jacket from an environmental perspective..

The Atom Hoody checks every box for a perfect jacket, except for one major design flaw. I had the jacket replaced 3 times in hopes that I was just unlucky, but it's a consistent issue. The left sleeve cuff has a problem in the seam where it digs into your skin, as shown in the picture below. The design not only has this problem but compared to the proton cuff it seems less durable in terms of tightness, shape. Otherwise it's a fantastic product that'll impress you with its warmth to weight ratio and performance. I really want to love this jacket but I hate that my left wrist always has the seam lip digging in my skin.

Don't get me wrong, the atom is still a great all around synthetic mid layer. But every year the quality seams to drop just a touch. Comparing my new atom(2023) to my buddy's 2019 model I can really see the difference. Somehow the old jacket still feels loftier. The internal fabric is far comfier and everything feels more robust. It's tragic but that's the way the company is going.

I bought this a few weeks ago and it works well. The size is a little bigger than I wanted. I wish I would've gotten it in a smaller size

I'm not a fan of the revisions to this. The Atom LT had a great fit - perfect for me in a medium. The new medium is baggier and longer. The zipper also seems poorer quality, not smooth, especially as you get near the top. I wanted to like this because my old LT is overdue for a replacement, but I will pass. Please bring back the previous LT...

I own alot of Arcteryx products including Atoms, Protons and Nuclei. I'm trying hard to find a WHITE jacket and had hoped this would be the one but no dice. Arteryx - please expand your product line to include White! Thank You.

I've read reviews that quality has declined over the recent years, but didn't pay that much mind to them. The zipper end has broken off in half through casual wear and nothing active. I expected a little more at the price point. Apart from that, this is a jacket I like for everyday normal scenarios.

Finally went on a climbing trip with my new Atom and had a blast until the zipper started catching at the top and it no longer zips smoothly. I know Joshua Tree is a harsh environment, but come on

Purchased in 2018, runs true to size. I am 5'7", broad shoulders (44" chest), and I wear a size L, which is comfortable. I love how lightweight it is, and typically wear this in the dead of midwest winters with a fleece midlayer, often in subfreezing temps. In temps below 20, I might wear something more robust. But this jacket can hold its own. The side fabric is breathable, and the outer shell performs fairly well in wet weather. The hood is boxy, and when on, it looks sort of funny - not the most flattering. That's fine, because I wear this for it's performance. Cinch elastic helps with keeping the hood on, and the chest pocket is handy. My biggest gripe about the design of this jacket is the side pocket design. The zipper opens down to the base of the pocket. So there is no lip inside the pockets. As such, anytime I have an item in my pocket and I lean to either side, the contents of my pockets will fall out. This happens with regularity. I've dropped my keys, papers, lip balm, etc. Luckily, it's while I'm tooling around town. If I were wearing this on a precarious hike, I'd be afraid to drop something of value down a side of a cliff or off a rock into a river. This is a major flaw. As such, I tend to wear my other jackets when doing anything technical.

I own two Atom LT's and have had at least 1 Atom LT in my wardrobe for the last 10 years. the quality is excellent and the atom is one of the one of the most versatile pieces I own. They fit great I absolutely love them, or at least I did. I wear size small and the revised fit is too tight for me. I tried a medium and it's too big. shame they had changed the sizing so I can no longer wear one. For me the fit of Arcteryx was the biggest draw, far superior to lots of competitors, but not with the revised fit. I hope they change it back

The new sizing is terrible. All my friends and family that used to wear this brands jackets can no longer find a properly fitted size. Very unfortunate to see this happen to Arcteryx; I wish they would bring back the old sizes that everyone liked.

Disappointed in the quality of the new Atom LT. I purchased an Atom LT jacket in 2017 and to this date it is the best jacket I own. I continue to wear it over the new one I bought. Even after owning it for 7 years, the quality of the material just feels better than the new version. The new version feels cheaper (almost plastic like) and as if it will soon rip while doing anything active. I wear my old one 10x more. It's unfortunate because for the high price they should have continued with the same material as the old version.

This jacket initially seemed promising with its easy wear and lightweight design, but I've been rather disappointed with its durability. After only a month of use, signs of wear and tear are already evident. The exposed stitches and scuffed area near the pocket are particularly concerning, especially considering that I've only worn it for city walks and workno extreme activities. The quality falls short of my expectations, especially given the reputation of the brand, Arcteryx. I had hoped for a product that would stand up to regular, everyday use without showing such premature signs of aging. I believe there should be a higher standard of longevity, even for urban wear, and it's disheartening to see the jacket not meeting those expectations. I hope this feedback can contribute to improvements in the design and construction of your products. What would be your advice to get this repaired?

For the high price you pay the quality is very bad. Right after 1 Months of using it,it started pilling. Buy older Atoms from 2019 version or older.

I had the older version of Atom LT and they had a boxier fit but ever since Arcteryx revised it the Atom LT has been nothing but a a style/fashion focused and narrow fitted, almost like a slenderman fit to it.
