The best all-around jacket you can get! Keeps you plenty warm and if you need to venture thru some subzero mountain weather then it works great for layering as well! It's a must have pierce of gear!!

Maybe my most used product. Use year round, for all activities, touring, surf trips, biking, going to work. Excellent jacket.

First Impressions: When I first pulled this hoody out of the box, I was struck by its solid construction. Arc'teryx has a reputation for quality, and this hoody lived up to it right away. The stitching, zippers, and fabric all looked top-notch. Material & Feel: The Coreloft insulation feels warm to the touch, almost like a cozy blanket but in a jacket form. The outer shell is durable, and I could tell this thing was built to last. Warmth Factor: I took it out on a chilly evening hike, and let me tell you, it delivered on warmth! Even as temperatures dropped, I felt comfortably snug. The insulation does its job well without making you feel like you're in a sauna. Breathability: Despite the warmth, I didn't find myself overly sweaty or clammy. Whether I was trekking uphill or standing still to admire the view, the hoody seemed to breathe well, keeping my comfort level just right. Weight & Portability: Though it's a heavyweight hoody, it didn't feel cumbersome. It even packs down pretty well, so I had no issue stashing it in my backpack when I didn't need it. Fit and Feel: The fit is fantastic, snug without being restrictive, allowing me to move freely. I could easily reach overhead, and the sleeves didn't ride up. Comfort? A big check there. Pockets and Extras: I love the strategically placed pockets. The chest pocket came in handy for my phone, and the hand pockets were perfect for keeping my hands warm. The adjustable hood was a nice touch; it stayed put even in windy conditions. Price Tag: Yes, the price is on the higher end, but considering the quality, I see it as a long-term investment. If you're serious about your outdoor activities, this hoody seems worth every penny. Final Thoughts: In a nutshell, the Arc'teryx Atom Heavyweight Hoody has won me over. It's warm but breathable, durable yet comfortable, and while pricey, it feels like a solid investment for anyone serious about braving cold conditions.

I've had the Atom Sl hoody for a few years now and recently used it while camping. It's a good jacket but I needed something more insulated and decided to purchase the Atom heavyweight jacket - the new jacket is a lot warmer and is exactly what I needed!

Compared to the Proton LT, this adds a good degree of warmth, but can feel a bit bulky. One can interpret that as cozy. I wear this for low output activities so the improved warmth and slight bulk are reasonable tradeoffs

Waited for a year and finally had the chance to own one. I'm a big ski fan and I don't like down jacket that much, it's not breathable if you're moving around. This heavy-weighted Atom hoody is the best mid-layer for skiing to my eye. Tried on for a short period of time. Nice and warm, good quality as always, looking forward to wear it in Winter.

I'm really enjoying this Jacket. I had a Kappa Hoody that was very warm, but bulky and very stiff and uncomfortable against my chin when fully zipped. The Atom Heavyweight is just as warm, significantly lighter and much more comfortable. I wear it as an outer layer when the weather is nice, but when it's cold and miserable, I wear it under a shellworks well both ways. I have to admit that I'm a little sceptical about the durability, based on other reviews. So far so good for me, but it does feel a little flimsy, so I tend to be very careful with it. Time will tell I'm 6'2" tall and weigh 185 lbs. Size large is a perfect fit.

Best mid-layer jacket I own. I live in the Canadian Rockies, and this jacket is used year round. Cold summer nights, shoulders seasons, and under my hard shell on the coldest days skiing at the resort and/or touring in the back country. I am 6', 155lbs and small is perfect.

I'm loving the Atom Heavyweight Hoody for the most part. I wish Arcteryx would make a waterproof version. The closest jacket that has actual waterproofing has less insulation or uses down which I avoid. This means there is no all in one solution with equivalent insulation at any price range. This is also the case for other brands so there is a serious gap in the market for people who avoid down and want an all in one, waterproof and heavily insulated solution. I also read many reviews that talk about it being too hot. I disagree, if anything I'd love a version of this with another 50gsm of insulation in the core area in addition to waterproofing.

Great jacket as before, but the revised fit/size is very struggling. The usual size L was somewhat baggy; however the size M was a bit tight and short. Couldn't find a better replacement jacket for atom heavy hoody so decide going back to large.I wish the sizing could be better. Thankful for the return policy I'm not stuck with an unfit jacket

4.5 stars, but I'm very picky: I've worn Atom jackets for ~13 years and just traded in my old ones for this heavyweight/AR model. Overall, I really like it -- I appreciate that Arc'teryx is offering an AR version of this jacket once more after making it lighter and lighter. This heavyweight model feels more like my original 2010 model, which I like. The Boxcar color is beautiful, it's my favorite color from Arc'teryx in awhile. A few nitpicks though: - Others have mentioned that the outer shell fabric feels cheaper, and I agree. I noticed that a difference between the regular Atom hoody and this one is the denier of the outer shell (normal is Tyono 20, heavyweight is Tyono 30). The additional weight of this jacket's outer material could explain the difference in feeling, but it does feel cheaper/rougher and look flatter than the regular Atom hoody from 2022 that I traded in, even if that used a lighter material. - Sizing is tricky. A 4 inch difference between XL and XXL caused problems for me, as I'm tall and need extra length and would ideally also have another inch or two in the chest. I drowned in the XXL with all but the heaviest layers underneath, and while the XL fits well in general, it doesn't look as great if I do any heavy layering. I like the regular (non-fitted) styling a lot, but the jump between sizes seems a bit ridiculous. - The naming is getting confusing. They just changed the product name from Atom AR Hoody to Atom Heavyweight Hoody. This is a bit more descriptive at first glance, but when every other Arc'teryx product adheres to the FL/AR/SV/etc. naming scheme, it confuses anyone who is familiar with other products. I'm very glad a heavier version of the Atom is again available. In the future, keeping the higher denier outer material while improving the look and feel of it would make this my favorite Arc'teryx jacket. I'm loyal to the Atom after trying other Arc'teryx synthetic jackets, so I hope they keep improving it. I plan on owning this one for a very long time regardless.

I was excited about this piece knowing the Aton Hoody Lt fit so perfect. I had lost weight and the Atom Lt became slightly too big so when buying the heavyweight version, I decided to drop one size. It doesn't fit nearly as well as it should. And I will not be able to downsize or upsize to render the issue. Keeping it but sure wish the old sizing was still an option.

The fit is a touch baggy, but you're able to layer with a proton LT under for extra warmth. This jacket is windproof which is adds nicely to the warmth. The main downside is the hood. All my other arcteryx jacket have a great tie down system, this hood starts way too large and the pull strap only pulls the hood back not closer to your head, making the hood useless on windy days.

I'd like to begin by expressing my admiration for Arc'teryx jackets as a longtime owner of multiple pieces. However, I must admit that the 2023 update has left me somewhat disappointed. For context, I stand at 6'2" and weigh 190lbs. Unfortunately, the latest sizing adjustments have left much to be desired. What was once a stellar garment has now lost that title. It appears as if the designers borrowed the lower portion from the previous XL and simply appended it to the L size, while maintaining the previous chest proportions. Additionally, it seems that there's been an increase in bicep room, resulting in an unattractive and uncomfortable "boxy" appearance. What's more, I feel, is that this alteration in the lower portion seems to hinder the jacket's ability to effectively retain precious body heat. Otherwise, the rest is on par with what is expected Given Arc'teryx's reputation, I had higher expectations. I sincerely hope they can rectify this issue in the coming year. In the meantime, I would recommend seeking out previous versions, especially if you're a lean mountain enthusiast.

I own the Atom LT and while I wear it more than any other jacket in my closet, the biggest struggle is that the zipper slips!? Specs claim "No Slip" but i can very easily pull the jacket completely open without even touching the zipper. Sometimes it even comes open on its own if I am being active or pull too hard at the pockets. I bought this new revised jacket hoping they would have solved the problem but it's the same issue. Arc'teryx if you ever get that fixed I would happily buy this jacket over and over again but for now I'll look for something different.
