This is quickly becoming one of my favorite jackets I've ever owned from across many different brands. I initially got this to wear on my e bike in cold rain or windy winter conditions in the 20s and 30s which it is for several months a year where I live, and it is brilliant at this. I'm amazed at how warm and dry I stay. But now I find I'm wearing it whenever I can which is for most outdoor activities from the 20s to 40s. The insulated beta is definitely an all around jacket. In other words, it's not the warmest jacket and it's not the most breathable for high output activities. But somehow they struck the perfect balance here for many situations including running errands around town, walking the dog when it's cold and rainy or windy, or short hikes /resort skiing when it's below freezing. If it's in 40s just walking around, the big pit zips and front zipper make it quite comfortable, but then in the low 20s with moderate activity it's super warm. Plus I love the Lampyre / Pytheas color. Sizing is different than some other arc'teryx I've owned / tried so definitely suggest trying in store if that's an option.

Truly unbelievable jacket! Have to say, best outdoor jacket purchase I have ever made. To start off, the price, although higher than most outdoor jackets, it genuinely reflects the quality functionality of the jacket overall. The jacket is fully water proof, even under extreme rain or snow conditions, not a single drop of water or humidity appears in the inner part of the jacket. I have used this jacket to ski, on regular snow days out here in Vancouver with snow and icy roads everywhere, and just on a regular rainy or cold day, and it has never failed to keep my dry and warm. This jacket truly holds up to -10 degrees C, as I tested on one of the coldest days of the year in Vancouver, and I was warm and comfortable the entire time. Entire time. Sure, an extra layer underneath would give an extra bit of comfort and warmth, but being honest, it is not needed. The jacket is super warm and extremely comfortable on its own, as the silky fabric in the inside doesn't stick to you upon sweat, and feels somewhat like a bed-sheet. It is also a good thickness, doesn't have any loose parts, zippers, pieces of fabric, or any extra unnecessary strings or parts that weigh it down or make it less compact. Moreover, the looks are simply not comparable. Have gotten so many compliments wearing this jacket, it looks so sleek, athletic, sporty, and matches any style of clothes (especially paired with the arcteryx beta pants, another top tier purchase). It also doesn't restrict you from things like driving, doing regular activities, running, etc, due to its athletic, not too slim but not too thick shape. Sizing: it fits true to size - I'm 5'8-5'9, slim athletic fit around 160 lbs, and the Medium I purchased fits me perfectly. Not too large, not too small. Quite long, gets down to my thighs, however, with the super useful draw strings in the bottom of the jacket, I simply scrunch it up and roll it upwards, and people don't even notice its longer than I make it out to be. The zipper and hood are amazing, the zipper never fails and zips quite high to the chin and keeps you warm and stylish all day. Overall: The jacket is amazing. Nothing more, nothing less. The warmth, comfort, agility, overall fit, and most importantly looks are simply incomparable to any other jacket. One of the best out there for sure, and TOTALLY worth the price. I was reluctant at first to purchase this and thought to myself,... "why does a 17 year old need this expensive jacket when there are others that are a quarter of the price", but I have never been happier with this purchase.

My husband already owns this jacket so I knew I would like it, but now owning my own I really do love it. I work outdoors and I bought this jacket to replace a different brand's jacket that didn't keep me dry in the rain. The Beta works perfectly. Partnered with Beta rain pants and Arc'teryx Goretex shoes I can face the rain undaunted.

I recently bought this to replace a utility walking jacked I had for years. This is in my opinion the perfect 3 season all weather jacket for hiking, walking and other outdoor activities. Lots of pockets, great ventilation, light weight and breathable. Don't have to have many layers just get a bace layer on and go. I love the weight and the water proof characteristics for what I do.

Great product and really like the color. It fits long in the body which is perfect for winter sports. My only complaint is the zipper is super difficult to get started. It's the double zip so it can vent if you unzip from the bottom. This feature makes the zipper sticky and takes a few tries before I'm able to zip the coat.

The jacket is nice and warm, and waterproof. Perfect for me for temperatures from mid - 20's to mid-40's. Could go in lower temps, but I go to down when under 20* F.

While I've only had this piece for about a month, I've sold it in our shop for awhile and couldn't wait any longer to have my own! It's the perfect jacket for cold, wet days when the outdoors still beckon and you want to answer the call!

Have had this for almost a year. Was searching for something more water resistant than my gamma MX that I adore. Excellent rain protection for city use. Haven't taken it snowboarding yet but suspect I may get too warm in it in the PNW. While sitting outside for 3+ hours watching my kid's wet baseball games in the early spring, I did get colder than I expected and had to add a mid layer on top of my baselayer. Again, not worried about it keeping me warm in more active situations. Usually wear a medium and accidentally bought a small and it fits very well. I have an athletic but short build(close to stocky) and don't have any trouble with the arm pits as others mentioned. Love the pockets.

The Atom LT and the Beta AR produced an heir to rule them all. The only shell/jacket you'll ever need.

The best new jacket out right now . A refresh and winterization on the standard beta. Now you don't have to lay a sweater/light jacket under your regular betas anymore !!

I bought this jacket for winter cycling in Montreal as well as ice climbing where there is little to no approach. I like that it's an all-in-one. Layers sometimes get in the way and tend to be bulkier than a single product. I can attest to the performance of Gore-Tex in this jacket. When I'm winter cycling in -20 C, I'm comfortable and don't have to worry about my head, neck and core (can't say the same for my feet!)

You will get loads of features, but they still don't justify the price tag. Lining feels nice in the pockets, though something similar could have been used in the collar against the chin. For the price I was expecting the jacket to be warmer. I was cold walking in 20F / -7C with a t-shirt and a thin woolen jumper. Seems it is not really a winter jacket for Finland. Luckily I got a large, being 181cm/75kg, there is plenty of room to layer underneath. M will suffice if you don't need room for thick layers or plan to do something more active. I expect to find more use of the fairly low insulation and shell in ice climbing / alpine skiing in the late winter/ early spring when the sun melts snow/ice and things get warmer and damper with still snow around.

Bought in my usual size, large. Im 5,11" and 150 lbs. The armpits, armhole on this jacket are very tight. I cannot justify even wearing it with such a fit flaw. Returning it asap.

The jacket overall seems good, but the fit is just simply awful, no other way to describe it. It is very snug and has far too little room in the armpits, it always feels like its squeezing me there, even when I size up. There is literally no room in this to add another layer if you order one true to size. I love the jacket otherwise but I find it unwearable. Please fix the fit!

I purchased this coat whilst on a trip down to Minneapolis. I'm a 6'2" 285lb middle aged Canadian. It was not purchased to climb any mountains, run, hike etc. I just bought the coat because I have some LEAF stuff and it is excellent. I have bought Arc'teryx's stuff for about 15 years with zero regrets. Back in the hotel room my wife asked to see the coat I tried hiding from her. I couldn't get the zipper started and she couldn't either. "Don't you already have this jacket?" She seemed giddy, like somehow my legendary brand has let me down. They didn't have another xxf in stock which was a shame as it was on sale with no tax. This jacket looked like my black Beta AR which continues to be flawless. Please upgrade the zipper to match the rest of the garment.
