I bought my first pair because they were recommended for plantar fasciitis. My condition has improved! I'm convinced.

This shoe is perfect for me- I like the roomy toe area and the stability it provides.

I have worn this model shoe for years now. This time the toe box seems a bit wider and I just want to say thank you for doing this!!!!! It is so hard to find a regular size shoe with a wide toe box. The cushion and stabilty of this shoe is outstanding for my everday wear.

I'm an avid walker with sever feet issues, arthritis in all my digits, crush injury to left foot and several decades in high heels. HOKA has literally changed my world. I have 20 pairs, I wake up thrilled to have pain free feet, and many choices. I saw the Gaviota 5 on a lady asked how she liked them, had to have them.

I have had several pairs of Hokas but the Gaviota is by far my favorite. I have high arches and lots of foot problems but these shoes are a dream to wear. I would highly recommend them!

I normally wear an 8.5 and I always get wide width if it's available. So that's what I ordered for these. Big mistake! They were like clown does on my feet. I was tripping over my own toes and they were slipping off my heel. Returned them for an 8 in a regular (medium) width and they fit like a glove!

Pros:
Very light weight. I noticed right away that they don't weigh as much as the Bondi 8.
More breathable fabric than the Bondi 8, perfect for warmer seasons.
Good cushioning, somewhat less than the Bondi 8, but I can feel the Gaviota's cushioning with each step, and it is good. I require a lot of cushioning from working 40+ years on cement floors, and Gaviota does not disappoint.
Good colors, of course. :)
The fit is Wide. In the width I'll say they feel too wide. Actually, they feel perfect for me, but I have wide feet across the toes. In the Bondi 8 I need to order a Wide shoe. In Gaviota, the B width is perfect. Gaviota B width = Bondi 8 Wide.
Cons: Not too many cons. There's a little less cushioning than Bondi 8, or at least, it feels different.
Some may feel that the wide toe box is a con.
Conclusion: I have ordered a 2nd pair of Gaviotas. Am extremely pleased with Gaviotas, and still love the Bondi 8, as well. They are both excellent. The major differences between Bondi 8 and Gaviota seem to be width, (with Gaviotas running wide) and cushioning. Gaviotas are nicely cushioned, but the cushioning has a different feel than the cushioning of the Bondi 8. I wear them for everyday use, and 5-mile walks.

I have plantar fasciitis. The therapist at my work told me that I should try.Hokas.. I put them on and didn't want to take them off. My first pair were a very light color. Less tan a month I bought this darker colored pair. Now my husband bought 2 pairs. I can't say enough good things about these shoes!!!

Thank you, HOKA!!! FINALLY - I have found my shoe! I’ve tried the Bondi (the last three versions) and the Clifton, and while “ok” I’ve always had problems around the lateral midfoot area and toe box over time. I even tried men’s sizing to see if I could get a different fit, but no such luck. The Graviota 5 is FABULOUS! The width of the forefoot is wider, which reduces the pressure on the inside of the shoe during toe-off. And the Graviota has a toe box that has the potential to put podiatrists out of business! (No more squished toes or injured toenails; no more annoying callouses behind the pinky toe) The cushioning is comparable to the Bondi and has felt great over time. PLEASE PLEASE, PLEASE don’t change a thing, HOKA. And for those of you who want a more narrow fit, try the Bondi.

This is my second pair well actually third, but I have to say I will only buy from the Hoka store, as the second pair the same exact shoe , was nothing the first and the third and very disappointing. I don't know what that's about, but just wanted to make sure you don't spend all that money and not get this most exceptional shoe. I wore new balance for years, I never thought I'd find anything comparable, and then the quality started to plummet. When I found these I was beside myself with joy as I put a lot of miles on my shoes and these hold up beautifully with comfort and stability, and For feedback have such a hard time fitting in Shoe these are absolutely perfect and I could wear them all day and never hurt even after a marathon! Spend a lot of time running or walking and I said need stability support and comfort! don't hesitate these are the ones!!!

I have issues with my feet and so finding a good shoe that has a wide toe box is a must for me. I own a Bondi 7 and a Bondi 8. The Bondi 8 isn't quite as comfortable as the Bondi 7. When I read the Gaviota 5 had a wider toe box I decided to try them. I love them. I love the new color selection. I'd like to purchase a few other colors so I can trade off. I love the plush cushion. It's a pleasure to walk and feels great with my terrible feet. I highly recommend these shoes!! Can't wait for my next pair!

I have been working with a physical therapist to relieve arthritic knee pain. If I wear these and do my thigh-strengthening exercises regularly, I don't have any knee pain at all, despite a bone-on-bone problem. After steroid injections had failed, and PT alone had failed, the addition of Gaviota 5's set me free from this expensive and life-altering surgery. The shoes are worth every penny they cost., and I love the freedom they give me. I don't run, but these are great walking shoes. I only wish they came in waterproof, because I live in Portland, Oregon, where it rains most of the year.

What I appreciate most about the Gaviota 5 is the wider toe box, the extra stability, and the cushioning for these aging and difficult to fit feet!

I researched several different sneakers as I needed the best for my trip to Disney in June. I read several reviews and now I see for myself how great these are. Very comfortable and cushy. Will update you after Disney, but I'm confident that they're going to be great!

I love my Bondi 7's & 8's but from looking at other reviews I wanted to try the Gaviota 5's I have bunions, a lot of arthritis & still trying to heal from a broken metatarsal I have experienced so much comfort from these!

I have the Gaviota 4 and the Bondi 8. I like both of these shoes for different reasons. I rotate wearing both of them for my walks. This seems to be the best solution for dealing with my plantar fasciitis and recent osteochondral allograft surgery in my knee. I needed a new pair since my Gaviota 4s are beginning to wear out. These are not like the Gaviota 4. They seem to be a mix between the 4s and the Bondi 8. The heel is more like the Bondi 8 than the Gaviota 4. The footbed is super soft and cushioned like the Bondi and the loop on the back of the shoe is like the Bondi too. They have the support that I liked in the Gaviota 4. There is more room in the toe box compared to the 4s. Overall I’m happy with the changes. Maybe I won’t have to rotate between two different pair of shoes to get my walks in now

I gave them in 2 colors. I love the tan color and I hope we can always have neutrals as a color choice! So pretty and meets all my functional needs for over pronation. However I need a narrower shoe for running. But I use these for gym lifts, walking, and at work as an RN

I have spent so much money on sneakers! I thought I would have to settle for close enough until this one! It's comfortable, has superior cushioning and supports my knees like nothing I've ever experienced.,EVER! I love this shoe so much I accidentally purchased 2 pairs in the same color and did not want a refund or exchange. Instead, I gave it to one of my sisters. I want a pair in every color available to me. It's great for the gym, running, walking, every day wear and for medical workers. The only thing that could make this shoe better is if it were designed in a military style black work boot for work. I would be in heaven. Outstanding job Hoka!

I had a pair of Cliftons, which I liked, but wanted to try the Gaviota 5 due to the plushness. I found that the Gaviota has a roomier toe box which is exactly what I needed, and was able to get a half size smaller than the Clifton, so overall a better fit for me. I bought one pair at a store, and ordered a second pair online. Service and delivery were stellar online. Will definitely buy a few more colors!

I love the Hoka Gaviota 5's. They are the best! I work in the medical field, on cement floors. I wear them to the Gym. I also wear them to walk my dog at the park. I have three pairs that I rotate. I used to have plantar fasciitis in both feet, I tried other name brand shoes, none of them helped my plantar fasciitis. My plantar fasciitis has gone away, since I have been wearing the Hoka Gaviota 's. I have to order a half size up. They are so comfortable and supportive. I highly recommend these shoes.
