I never thought there would be a sock I would consider too thick...But this one takes the cake...I cant really wear these because they are too bulky. nice color, nice quality..But when LLBean says these are their thickest...really belive them! I appreciate the quality though.

I've been wearing these socks now for maybe 15 years and I still love them. I know of no other sock anywhere, for any price, that is as comfortable as these are, period. OK, on to the few drawbacks that I have with these. They do not wear terrible well and the price is higher than I think it should be, simple as that. They usually wear (thin out) first in the back of heel area (not the bottom) and I have many pair that the heel is almost thread bare and the rest of the sock is in good shape. I hate throwing them out because of this. As I wear many different types of shoes and boots, I have ruled out any specific heel issues of shoes I wear. As I am not in the business of making yarn for socks I have no advice here, only that it would be great if the heel would last longer. My sense is a year or so is what to expect if you rotate your socks. I usually buy 4-6 pair at a time and I might see them start to wear in less than a year. I think that's too short a time for the value, but I pay it anyway because I cant find anytihng more comfortable than these. I also have both colors and they wear the same. Thats about it!!

I received these socks as a present from my mother after I read rave reviews about them (and was told by a saleswoman that these are the socks to have to keep your toes warm, and that they also go with the boots I recently purchased as well.) When I got them as a gift, I was so pleased. They're very thick, and have a soft coating on the inside of them which keeps your feet feeling luxurious, not itchy. These are socks for men, but I'm a woman, and I wear a shoe sized from 7-8. These socks are too big for me. The sizing on the package was for a shoe size from 6-10, but they are very baggy, especially in the toe area. The socks are so warm, that my toes actually get too hot when being indoors, which is actually nice, because I plan on wearing these on my outdoor occasions for chilly days, so I know my toes will be toasty. I'm just bummed about them being a little baggy, because they're uncomfortable to walk around in the house without shoes on to keep them in place. I do like my socks tighter on my feet. The width doesn't bother me (they're slightly wide for a woman's foot) but the length makes it feel awkward. Also, I bought the Khaki/Green colored socks, and something I noticed that wasn't in the photo is the L.L.Bean logo on the toe. I think it adds a nice touch.

these socks are as advertised- thick, like two pairs in one, and at a great price.

i wish they fit! really nice sock. for my women's size 10 foot, the Medium sock is too short. i just sent it back and asked them to replace with size Large, and to send an extra pair with it. pricey, but i believe you get what you pay for: i'm still wearing the expensive pair i purchased in a sport's store in 2007.

Very soft and warm. I wear a size 7.5 wide shoe and ordered the medium size and the socks fit very nicely. The socks are thick, so that needs to be considered when buying them to wear with boots are shoes. I wear them around the house without shoes, so it is not an issue for me.

These are great socks: functional, warm, and comfortable. Problem is that the ladies in my life keep stealing them to wear as slippers! One gripe - they "pill" a little after several washes.

I got these socks using a coupon so am enjoying them but otherwise find the price high. They are warm, wick moisture away, and are soft and cushy. Can be worn only in shoes with room for thick socks. They wash and dry in drier well. Nice room in the toe area, not too big not too tight. Go for it!

The socks are 10 inches in length, thick good sucks, warm socks, HOWEVER IF YOU WEAR THEM IN YOUR BOOTS ALL DAY LONG, THEY WILL SWEAT. These socks have wool and nylon. These socks have ZERO cotton.

Could be a 5 star pick if it had less synthetic material. The sock needs at least 90% wool or perhaps 80% wool and 10% cotton. The 20% nylon and coolmax allows the foot to move around in the shoe too much, otherwise a very good product.

Bought these for my husband, he likes the support they provide, and they are nice and warm. It's nice to get socks in a size that fits (small), not one size fits all. They are a little pricey, will get more when on sale.

Warm and snug, tight in the boot. After a couple of steps it feels like a normal sock.

The socks do wick moisture and are very comfortable. They did shrink considerably in length after the first wash.

great sock. very nice construction. However, it could be a little roomier. It says the XL fit to size 15. Barely. Better fit, I would say for size 13, especially after they are laundered. I do not machine dry, but they always shrink. I'd like to see an XXL for sizes 14-16, so my size 15 husband could have a sock that fit for a change.

I withhold "excellent" until I see snow and check out the "Coolmax" feature. The sales description says: "Our thickest socks." Not so. The heavyweight Cresta Hiking Socks are considerably thicker, and I returned those because the fit in shoe was much too tight. As for these "boot socks," I wear size 12 shoe. I ordered both the large (9-12) and X-large (12-15). I am happier with the X-large as a good fit and am keeping them. With their CoolMax feature, I want to see how they do the next time I handle snow. With my old uninsulated L.L.Bean Boots and thick wool socks, my feet always sweat, the socks get damp, and my toes freeze. Now, I'll be trying my new Thinsulate L.L.Bean Boots with these boot socks.

Socks are warm and stay up well, inside is soft, I have very sensitive skin though and had some ankle itching after wearing them before washing them. Hopefully washing them will take care of that or I'll wear cotton under them if it doesn't.

The stitching is coming apart, so they are now known as my "ratty old socks," but they are my "go to" socks for winter walking. I wore these socks at least every other day during the long Alaska winter, and they've always kept me warm, dry, and comfortable. Love em.

The quality is great and the socks are REALLY warm; however, please look at the sizing. I ordered a medium which is supposed to fit women's shoe size 6-10. I wear a size 8 and the sock is MUCH too large -- too long and too wide. It almost fits my husband, who wears a 12-13. I am returning them because of that.

Purchased along with Bean Boots, to use in Colorado on ski trip. The socks were very warm and comfortable, albeit running a little on the large size. I am a size 9 and bought the medium, but probably shoud have opted for the small.
