Wintry conditions have relegated my first runs in the Cyclone 2 to the treadmill, but they have made that boring slog a real treat for me. This shoe is exciting.
First up: the Cyclone 2 is so incredibly different than the first version. The original Cyclone was good (I liked it enough to buy it twice), but it felt like Topo's attempt to create a trendy plated shoe with old tech it had lying around in the parts bin. It was snappy and fun to run in, but the upper was challenging to get a good heel lockdown in, and the midsole left me feeling beat up after longer runs.
The Cyclone 2 is something else entirely. Ultralight, extremely flexible, and wonderfully springy underfoot, this product is everything I want from a running shoe in 2023: a product that employs cutting edge technology that doesn't come at the expense of feeling connected to the act of running. I haven't enjoyed a shoe this much since I first put on a pair of Escalante 1.5s.
My only gripes are that it's about a half size too long, and that the scant rubber limits the versatility of the shoe somewhat. But I'll be logging many, many road miles in these shoes once the temperatures rise.

Thanks, TOPO! This is the shoe I've been waiting for - for around ~20 yrs. Been running for quite a while; did work running retail back in the day, so I saw and sold lots of emerging tech over the decades. The Cyclone 2 is my first TOPO road shoe; after my great experience w/ the Mtn. Racer 2, I thought I'd give your road shoes a shot.
Bottom line: The fit is perfect for my foot - slightly wide forefoot, tapered mid foot and heel. But the midsole was a pleasant surprise - Pebax, yes; but, not sloppy soft/squishy - but, not too firm, either. I'm not the heaviest guy at +/- 130, but this midsole should be perfect for a wide range of weights; sculpted w/ an excellent heel bevel, I'm thrilled. I said to my wife after the first five miler, "finally a shoe I don't have to return or exchange."
Oh, and by the way, my size 9 comes in at 6.6 oz - according to our digital food scale. Nicely done, TOPO!

I had been running in the Magnifly 2 - 3 and went to the 4's they were too tight on my right foot. These Cyclone 2 are light, have have great stretch / give on the sides.

Loved the fit of these and ran a half in them, they are very comfortable but the durability leaves Somthing to be desired. I generally wear my shoes down pretty fast as I over pronate but a hole ripped in the side of well before hitting 200 miles. Topo gave me a replacement pair but thinking of saving them as a long run/race day shoe as I just can't rely on them for my every day runner. If you're more gentle on your shoe or looking for something that's super light then this is your shoe, I love the wide toe box. Just don't expect this shoe to take a beating of any kind.

Good fit and comfort. Will continue to assess for durability but no issues so far!

I've never been a person to wear running shoes for anything other than running. I wear Xero and Vivo as my daily but I kept looking for reasons to wear this shoe.
They are very light and the turnover is wonderful, really one of the more playful and fun shoes I've ran in.
Please keep this one the way it is.

These shoes feel great at any pace and distance. Easy runs, long runs, intervals, races, all seem better in the Cyclone 2. Bought 2 pairs so I can rotate them through the week.

I purchased my first Topos for hiking. Love the shoes, the fit and the durability. Purchased the cyclones for the color. After wearing them for a few weeks I wish they had a better color selection! Love these shoes. Just us a few more colors please!!!

For everything from long runs to tempo work and races, it's a flexible, cushioned and fast shoe. I am on my 6th pair.

First time buying neutral / 0 drop shoes and was a little afraid. Tried several others on from different brands. Ended up with my top two pics as Topos and settled on these for the 5mm drop + comfort. Changing to a neutral drop shoe can be difficult but these made it easy! And they're crazy light and breathable. Love them!!!

Flawless design it may just be the perfect shoe. I wear these shoes for everything. Track speed workouts, 10 mile road runs and even recently ran a 30 mile trail run in them. The tox box room is unmatched. These are the only pair of shoes that I have ever worn that provide sufficient toe box room.

I was looking for a new pair of race day shoes for my first marathon due to experiencing some slight discomfort in my left foot. The majority of my running is done in zero drop and very minimal cushioning, but felt I should maybe up to something that has a bit more cushioning like the Cyclone 2's.
I ran two 5Ks in the shoes before race day to get the feeling for the shoes. Race day came and I experienced zero discomfort in my feet or my knees throughout the entire run. I couldn't recommend these shoes enough for those longer runs.
These are I believe my fifth pair of Topo's and I'll definitely be returning for plenty more.

Have been running for 25 years. The last two have gotten serious about becoming a "runner". Im 6'3" 198Lb and I've been through a dozen shoes from various brands most not lasting but a few runs before realizing they were not going to work.
Found Topo and have 3 pairs of their shoes including the Cyclone 2. Easily my favorite Topo shoe, or any shoe for that matter. Best I can describe it is it makes me feel like a "runner". I ran my first half marathon in these shoes with no discomfort at all!

This is an example of a perfect running shoe.. in my opinion. I think any modification may be a mistake. This is the shoe you wish you had purchased more of when they were available. All runners have this happen to them eventually. They are light really light. Have great cushion with great energy return. I run every day and have done so for about 10 years approx 1400 miles per year. In my opinion these are simply the best shoes you can strap to your feet. I primarily run on the road. When running when things get tough I focus on how great the ground strikes feel through this shoe .. and it pulls me through. I am currently visiting this site with a coupon code to buy another pair, but they are sold out.. I will keep checking until there in stock again. I have approximately 250 miles on these and they still look newish with a medium amount of typical outsole damage. Yea I really like em'

Love these shoes so much! This is my second pair. I use mine as daily trainers on roads and light trails four times a week and my runs are anywhere between 4 and 10 miles long. My old pair made it to 400 miles with barely a scratch,
which i was very impressed by. I love the roomy toe box and that there's just enough cushion to still feel the ground. #sweepstakes

The Cyclone 2 are my fourth Topo purchase this year. I run on the road for training but really enjoy running trails! I love Topo fit and the smaller heal to to drop.

I bought these shoes with low expectations, I just wanted to try something different. After two pairs and over 750 miles in these shoes I can say these are at the top of my list for best running shoes of all time.
My first pair ripped on the outsoles after constantly running sharp turns at fast paces. For this I blame myself and not the shoe because with my second pair I stopped running that loop and had no issues. (Also, after sending the Topo team pictures of me ripped shoes they graciously sent me another pair!!!)
As a D1 cross country and track athlete I pay special attention to my shoes and I know what I like. Too many shoes on the market today are narrow and squish your toes together, the Topos have a wide toe box which gives your feet a more natural roll, allowing your toes to splay which is also healthier for your feet. I'm also a big fan of the 5mm heel to toe drop for healthy Achilles extension. The heel lock is the most comfortable I've ever felt in a shoe. In general I get excited to put this shoe on after switching out of any others. The tread on the bottom is class and lasts a long time (I also noticed it turns blue when wet which is a cool little detail) and the pebax foam is super comfortable and bouncy. This shoe is truly great for speed days and recovery days.
Looking to get my third pair soon with the new white color way too!

Great light shoe for tempo runs. It is easy to over tighten them so be mindful not to crank on the laces.

I bought the same shoe for my son and now he's sold on it. I like the minimalist concept around the construction, the heel to toe drop, the wide toe box and the light weight.

I absolutely love this shoe. I'm embarrassed that I wear it so often. I have two recommendations though. First, use this foam in all of your shoes. If you did, I'd buy nothing but Topo instead of my 40+ shoe rotation. Two, more colors please!

I am a Topo loyalist but found the first version of the Cyclone disappointing. After reading many good reviews I finally took the plunge and ordered a pair of the version 2. I am happy to say....the reviews are accurate. I did 10 miles right out of the box without any issues. The shoes are very light and the Pebax foam came as advertised. It has good energy return without feeling too "bouncy". The upper is very comfortable and the lock down is good (unlike the first version). With that said, I will probably stick with my Specters for longer runs but these will be great for 1/2 Marathon distance or below, intervals, etc...

I've run short tempo runs, treadmill workouts, and taken these up to 15 miles at half marathon pace. These are great. I had no soreness. I probably would do a marathon in them but they are perfect for 15 miles or less. The whole shoe is comfortable. I have no complaints. I'll probably try the phantom or Atmos next as I'm trying to detach myself from Altra.
