This is the shoe I needed in my rotation. I use other salomon shoes for my mountain runs. But I had been wanting a wider base type max cush shoe. I really enjoy the regular laces as well. Perfect for long runs and recovery runs in the woods

My left shoe makes a squeak every step. I can't I hear it. Terrible for a shoe this costly. Can I return them?

I wanted so badly to love this shoe. I'm a big fan of the Glide but found myself wanting more cushion, so when this was announced? Sign me up.
And the initial few runs felt great. My third run in them was during a 12 hour race, and they felt smooth on the grassy, wooded trails - the perfect terrain for these shoes. The grip on them isn't great in mud, but frankly that's to be expected.
Fast forward to a few weeks (and maybe a handful of additional runs later) and the right shoe squeaks. With every step. Step. Squeak. Step. Squeak.
And it's not just me. Do a search for "squeak" and this model, and you'll find numerous reviews saying the same thing. The shoe develops a squeaking sound. It doesn't seem to be happening to everyone (or they did the reviews during the honeymoon period) but it's happening often enough that it's clearly an issue.
Other than that, I wish the shoe had Quicklace (and the laces that come with the shoe are excessively long) and more padding in the tongue.

Best door to trail shoe I’ve owned. I’ve got 150 miles in them and they still are my go to, even for gravel greenways. Support is great, outsole rubber is phenomenal, stability is perfect and the cushion is awesome — very responsive and a “max” cushion to me. I bought another color while on sale, and as some reviews mentioned, it has a squeaky right shoe, other than that, I’m watching for them to go on sale again.

Ive bought Salmon hiking shoes for years because I have a high arch and a narrow foot. The Cross 5 and 6 fit me perfectly but I wanted a shoe to wear on the trail and street. These shoes are unlike any Solomons Ive had, not near as supportive as other models and they have laces. The only way Ive been able to wear these shoes is with inserts to stabilize my foot in the shoe.

Had these for a couple days and the right shoe started squeaking very loudly. Called Salomon and they said I would have to go through a warranty claim for credit and they couldn't just swap them out.

This shoe is funny for me. I had the UltraGlide and loved it. This shoe is similar but and first feels less refined. There are some 'problems' (the tounge slips to the side, I can feel the edges of the insole on the bottom of my foot, the tounge and heel padding is chunky, and it runs a bit small). However, when I run in this shoe, not only do these disappear, I really like the shoe, better than the UltraGlide. Grip and comfort are great and it dissapears underfoot.
I can only think that some genius at Salomon knew that all these oddities would add up to a great shoe. They do, but it still doesn't take away from my confusion.

Bought these shoes not knowing what to expect after having a bad experience with peregrines. The cushioning turned out to be fantastic, I prefer the proper laces to the quick lace system as well so that was a plus, and the grip seems just right as well. Have done loads of training as well as a few ultras in these and theyve performed just fine.

Have run in these a couple times in packed down snow. Handled it nicely and I felt stable and that I had traction. Comfortable and good looking too. Only gripe is one shoe squeaks a bit (bought in late December).

Decided to try these after a run year ago when a demo tent was in SF. Loved the trial and shoes and decided to give them a try after my Hokas were just not holding up. Shoe runs true to size and can be used for a variety of reasons on the trail as a lite hiker or running, or for walking and running on a variety of surfaces. Shoe appears to be durable and more stable than my Hoka ATR Stinsons, the drop is close to the same, lateral stability is better, toe box is perfect, and comfort is the same or better. These appear to be a cut above and Id give them a try.

I recently took advantage of the sale/markdown on these. I own a pair of Aero Glide 2s these shows provide the same feel. However after only 20 or so miles, the foam in these soles are beginning to break down a bit. I detect a creak in the right shoe that I can only suspect is the foam starting to separate. Upside is I dont have full price in the investment. I may come back within another 50 miles to share any updates, however I was disappointed in the initial break-in.

I'd say the fit is pretty narrow. Feels ok just trying on, but once running and climbing I'm feeling pressure on my foot. So I would say to size up. Grip is fine so far. I'm not a fan of the upper, it feels sloppy. On running descents I find my foot tends to bunch up towards the toe. It's like the upper does not maintain its structure very well. Coming from the nike pegasus trails and zegmas, this shoe feels like a huge downgrade. I got them for $64 though so...I would never ever pay $160 for them.

Good cushioning and stability. Solid trail running shoe.
Only downside Ive found is there is no gusset holding tongue of shoe in place, causing it to shift while wearing. Loosening the laces helps avoid uncomfortable pressure from laces contacting top of my foot. Seems like tongue gussets are pretty standard in most of todays running shoes, not sure why they over looked it on this shoe as its well rounded otherwise.

I've been using these shoes for several weeks and I'm impressed with the build quality and the cushioning. The latter is maximal without being squishy. The heel fits snug as I expect from Salomon, and the toebox is spacious, more spacious than I need but it works with heavier socks.

...it was alright. I like to predominantly strike mid-/fore-footed, where the cushion is actually less on this shoe. Surprisingly, I also felt a little ouchy on one rock during a trail run. On otherwise less technical trails, I'm sure it would be fine. At 6'4" and 220#, even the rear portion could use a little more cushion. These are fine for daily runs, but I'll look for something beefier on my ultra efforts.
I will say, though, I have a low instep, and found these shoes fit relatively snug compared to other brands/shoes. For my needs, this was a plus!

Just got these because they were on sale for $60 and I have a 30hour winter trail ultra coming up in two months. I like the structure and size of normal running shoes so these caught my eye. Despite looking pretty normal they offer solid water resistance and have a strong springy sole. They have really nice traction as well. There is a pretty noticeable heel drop in the structure of the shoe which actually feels pretty natural once you adjust a bit. The toe box is pretty wide and I also sized up from a 13 to a 14. This felt right and also will allow for some swelling/thick socks so Im happy with it. Basically $60 is a STEAL for this shoe, I just ordered a second pair because Im so happy with the quality for that price. And Im writing this review because I want more Salomon points to buy more shoes so there ya go.
