I was looking for a mid weight water-resistant jacket. I saw this and loved the look. I read the reviews which said it ran large and ordered a medium instead of a large. I'm glad I did, the large would have been too big. I can wear a sweater under the medium, no problem. I usually wear a medium or large size 10 top. I'm taking it on a trip to London in a couple of weeks, it isnt too heavy, and it is cute.

Love this coat, it doesn't get enough advertising. It's super warm and the wax coating keeps you dry in the snow/sleet/light rain. I bought a large as I figured I would be layered up and I have broad shoulders. The sleeves are actually a little long but the shoulders fit great even with layers. It's too warm to shovel snow in, you'll have to take it off. It's durable enough to not get torn up walking in the woods like the puffy coats do.

I have been longing for a waxed canvas down jacket for years, wishing that more companies made a version. I was delighted to find this one, and at such an affordable price for what it is: waxed-cotton canvas and feather-down fill, both expensive, quality materials. The only similar jackets I've found go for $600+ and aren't even available in women's sizes. Water resistant, warm, and super cute. Win win win. I would recommend ordering a size down if you want it fitted. I usually order size Small, but the X-Small here was a little more form fitting. I think they sized it up a bit so that you could plan to wear other thick layers underneath (which makes sense in really cold weather). So depending on what you're wanting it for, order accordingly. The zipper can be a little sticky at times, but over-all works fine, and it's hard for me to complain when everything else about it is PERFECT. Praying they keep making this jacket, or come out with one very similar with slightly adjusted improvements. I'm surprised this has bad reviews! It's truly a wonderful jacket!

I needed a warm coat without a hood - which has been hard to find. This jacket is perfect - and I love that the sleeves are longer! The coat is lightweight, and comfortable, and I wear it to work, when I'm out and about, and on my walks to and from my gym. It stayed dry when I walked in the rain, and was cozy.
The only constructive feedback I have is:
1. the openings on the flap pockets is a tad narrow, and the slip pockets on the outside of the flap pockets are very shallow - I doubt if anything would stay in them safely.
The hand-warmer pockets (above the flap pockets) are very nice and warm, yet hand placement feels awkward - higher than one would expect.
2. It seems I cannot wash or professionally clean this jacket! Labels all say "no soap or solvents", so I assume that means no dry-cleaning, either I know I can wipe off dirt and mud, but after multiple wearings, it's bound to start to smell - I wish I had a way to ensure the coat doesn't become offensive and stinky.

Great fit. I usually order an XL in Bean's coats and the XL fits great/true to size, with a little room for layering. Nicely shaped thru the waist too! Not too heavy. Great for New England fall weather and probably winter too.

Perfect for me. Warm, lots of pockets, great for gray cold days. Looks good also! Not oversized or to puffy.

Love! Love! Love this coat. This is a hardy working jacket. I love the extra length in the sleeves that others have mentioned. It keeps my wrists warm when I am actually using my hands and arms. What a concept! The waxed cotton is so much more durable than most of the down out there these days. This coat will last, and it's attractive too. The loden is dark but still nice.

After living in bitter cold Minnesota for 6 years, I've finally invested some money on a jacket that looks a little better than a ski jacket.
I am very impressed with the performance of the jacket in -40F: not cold at all with only two layers underneath. That alone just made me proud of my jacket choice.
I usually wear a small in LLBean sizes, but after reading other review I ordered it a size up. I do not regret it one bit. It fits perfectly. I have long arms and the sleeves fit amazingly.
The only down side is how much lint and hair the fabric attracts! I have keep a lint roller on hand at all times because I can't stand how much cat hair gets on it. Other than that, the best jacket I've owned!

It keeps me warm! the sleeves are long enough and tapered to prevent the wind updraft. The inside pocket is in a good location and deep enough. The waxing is enough to be weatherproof, yet still soft for freedom of movement without being noisy. It is a good zipper, easy to use without snagging, and heavy snaps. The side pockets out of the way, yet in a comfortable position for hand warmer use. I think the front flap pockets are a bit stingy in size, and will cut off the neck part of the zipper, don't like it hitting me in the chin. The collar is great with the snaps. I live in the high plains where the wind and weather can be wicked, am horseback in all weather or choring. I really like this jacket.

Awesome coat! Very comfortable, true to size, blocks out wind and cold, very warm. The collar is perfect and does not rub against my neck for irritation like there previous jacket did. Also its a decent weight and not heavy like the other model. They did a great job with the fit and length. My only dissatisfaction is the side pockets are to small. If they improve that, then you have a perfect coat!

Fits wonderful and looks great-well made and seems like it will be perfect for late fall/early winter weather. 6feet and 130lbs and the XS fits perfect with a sweater underneath.

It's super warm and a great winter coat. A bit too bulky and awkward. But not enough to outweigh the warmth and beauty of the jacket.

I purchased this jacket in 2016 and the quality and warmth is fantastic; it's held up remarkably well. So many pockets and I've literally never been cold in it (it's my go to anytime temps drop below freezing); I will say, I wish the coffee bean color was truer to the photos online. In person, the color is much more similar to the 'chocolate' or traditional brown corduroy lining versus a grey/brown mocha. Only disappointing feature is the color.

This jacket is warm and roomy for layers underneath. The upper pockets are awesome! They are very deep, which you don't always get in women's clothing. The zipper is very sticky.

This coat was everything I wanted it to be but the color. I ordered the green and sadly it was a not attractive. Fix the color and it would be perfect!

Nice and warm, but a bit bulky. I wish it was longer, but all in all, a good buy.

High Quality Quilted Jacket, but a bit too small for me, though I fit the size-guidelines. As always, ordering online is convenient, but a little bit challenging. This jacket is going back!

I ordered for my wife and she normally wears a medium but this was just too big. It was also a lot more puffy than we imagined. It looked like solid construction and a nice jacket but she was looking for something a little less puffy and warm, otherwise, was a nice looking coat.

There are so many things I love about this jacket, and some things that could definitely be improved upon. This jacket is so warm, I love it. I feel totally protected and ready to take on the weather. It's comfortable, but not too heavy. That said, I bought a Medium thinking it would fit more true to size. It's big enough to wear a sweater underneath it, but if you want a slimmer fit, size down. The pockets are nice! I really like the angled hand pockets; they are very convenient. The snap-closure pockets don't exactly fit my iPhone 8+ which is a bummer but not a big deal, and the exterior pocket don't really fit my hands. The only other thing I wish this jacket has was more cinching in the waist, and a different sleeve cuff, as these are really wide. Good purchase, I'm very pleased.

The jacket was absolutely gorgeous, and I would've kept it but the XS fit like a Medium - disappointed as it was exactly what I was looking for but unfortunately it had to go back. Overall, it was a high quality, heavyweight jacket. Would love if you would consider making an XXS.

The color(carmel brown) was great and the jacket was well made. Unfortunately it was at least one size too small. I own a Barbour Beadnell in US 18 and have room to spare. This XL(18-20) I could not close the jacket. The Barbour has a much stiffer material to the LLBEAN which makes the LLBEAN more comfortable to wear but since I was unable to close it, it was a moot point. I would recommend it if you size up.

First I want to say I ordered this jacket on a Sunday (afternoon) and it arrived Tuesday. So I'm very happy with how quickly it arrived. After searching for a waxed jacket and discovering how expensive these coats can be; I found this one and noticed the price was much more affordable than many others. I liked the style the Upcountry Down Jacket offered so I took a chance and ordered it. If I could change one thing about the jacket I would make it a bit more tailored. It is a boxy fit and being quilted as well doesn't necessarily offer a slender look. Also many people mentioned the sleeves being to long, which is true. I do wish the sleeves were a shorter length but I'm not unhappy that the longer length covers more of my hand and will keep them warmer in winter. That being said, overall I'm very pleased with this purchase. I'm 5"5' and weight around 120 lbs and after reading the reviews I ordered an XS and I'm glad I did. I wish it were a bit smaller but because it has a double zipper, I can unzip it from the bottom and cinch it closed around my upper waist which gives a little shape to the jacket. I still have room to wear a bulky sweater under the jacket. I like the Loden color and the overall style this jacket offers. The upper side pockets feel warm and there is an addition interior pocket with a zipper which will be very handy. I like the larger quilted pattern and the smooth area around the shoulders. I think it gives the coat a smart look. I also like the soft corduroy around the collar and the underside of the pockets. Some people said they didn't like how tall the collar is, but if it's cold weather, I think I will like having the extra protection around my neck and it lays down nice so it works for me. This jacket hits me just above mid thigh. I gave this jacket 4 stars because it's just slightly less than what I was looking for but for the price and quality, I'm very satisfied with it.

Very warm, good looking jacket, but the sleeves were much too long. They were so long that if alterations were made they would have made the sleeves look a little off. Alterations are also a bit a problem because it is a waxed cotton jacket which means the alterationist needs to know how to work with the material and many do not have that special skill. I would only recommend this jacket to a friend if they had very long arms, or if LL Bean re-styled the sleeve length.

Beyond my floor-length wool winter coat, this is the best, and warmest coat I own, and I absolutely love it! Purchased this at 25% off before Christmas, and added in the credit for another coat I returned, and have gotten much more than my money's worth, wearing it during the recent frigid temperatures experienced here in the northeast. In -18 windchills, I was not cold in the least! I purchased the coffee color in an XL. The sleeves are a bit long, and the coat does attract lint due to the waxing, but I'm willing to deal with that given the warmth provided by this coat. I have room to wear a heavy sweater or heavy sweatshirt underneath, but I haven't found the need given the warmth this coat provides. My better half is always cold, and after listening to me rave about its warmth as well as liking the style herself, thought she'd try one out. She just received it yesterday, and I'm looking forward to hearing her comments. If you live anywhere where the temps get below freezing, I highly recommend this coat. I use a lint brush and spot clean as the need arises. Try it...I'm sure you'll like it!
