Ordered a medium but replaced it with a large. The large was a little too bulky with a sweater underneath. Loved that it is wind resistant. The llBean insignia is too large. Really wanted to love this jacket Might fit other women better.

If only the jacket had a hood, I would rate it a 5.

Looks great. I think I will get a lot of wear out of it. I should have sized up simply because I had read that the sleeves are a bit snug which is true . Love the quality.

I have been shopping for a windproof fleece, and after researching many brands, decided this appeared to be one of the best for my money. So far, I am not disappointed. I have used it as my fleece mid layer for everything from standing outside watching dog sled races to snowshoeing and it has performed perfectly. It provides the warmth of a fleece layer with the added benefit of blocking the wind. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the fit. I think the bottom of the jacket could be taken in a bit. If it didn't have a drawcord hem, I would have to have sent it back.

this is a very nice jacket for winter walking, xc skiing, snowshoeing in minnesota. however, i don't like the llbean label on it and when asking if i can remove it, was told it would mar the jacket. it is too prominent, especially on the white and bone color. i love llbean but have never liked having clothing with the label showing the brand. prefer simplicity.

It's beautiful, but the sleeves stick to any polartec layers under it. Makes it very difficult to put on and take off.

I purchased this jacket because I walk all the time and most jackets don't cut the wind for me. However, this one does and I recommend it.
As with any online purchase, I read the reviews before purchasing. Many reviewers noted the jacket's tight fitting arms but I did not find that to be the case.
I am 55 years old, 5'5" tall, have a small upper body, and I ordered a S which was the right size for me. (I can wear a long sleeved shirt, and a thin T-shirt under the jacket without it being too tight.)
I am very pleased with the look, warmth and quality of the jacket. I also LOVE the fact that it is made from recycled material. I would give this a 5 but for the fact that it doesn't have dual zippers. The jacket hangs below one's waist so a dual zipper would be ideal when sitting down.

I walk dogs on an Atlantic coast barrier island, where the wind can take one's breath away, and this is an excellent windbreaker. The fabric & workmanship are all up to Bean typical high standards. Wish the tail were a little longer, and I'm wearing petite.

Very warm, somewhat breathable. Possibility too warm for Texas except those days last year when we had no heat, electric or water. I am prepared just in case.

I really love my new fleece from LL Bean, and it does keep most of the wind at bay, but it's not completely wind proof as described. I've taken it camping on several occasions, but some wind could always be felt through the fleece. I think that a better liner is necessary on future versions.

This is such a pretty fleece! It is as warm as a fleece is expected, I don't think I would say 30 degrees like it says, but a cool 40-50 degree day would work. I did go up a size so I could wear it more of a jacket and over clothes, I found the bottom around the hips to be a little tighter than most llbean tops I buy.

I love this jacket. I bought it for winter's very cool coastal weather...when temperatures drop to the low 40's.
What I love about the jacket:
******* 1. It is very flattering on....the slant pockets are great.
******* 2. Really love the third chest pocket.
******* 3. All three pockets have solid zippers and they all fit my iPhone.
******* 4. All three pockets are generous in size.
******* 5. It is windproof; and it does work by keeping me warm.
******* 6. The neck is comfortably high and has the cozy fleece
******* 7. The fabric is very flattering in that half the design shows the grids; and the other parts reverse the fleece to show smooth fleece...very clever and stylish.
******* The jacket will fit snug; so be prepared to wear a thin layer only. It is not intended for bulky clothing.
******* Part of being windproof means there is no stretch.
*******My main negative for this jacket is that I wish it had a two-way zipper. I gladly would have paid $20 more for a two-way zip.

Nice jacket. Hard to slide your arms into with long sleves on - it would help if the sleeves were lined.

The only reason this didn't get 5 stars is the sizing runs a little small. My large fits me the way a medium would, comfortably, but leaving little room for layering. Otherwise, it's a really nice jacket which I've added to my favorites.

Very comfortable. good fit, definitely wind proof...other colors for women would be appreciated and it would be nice if it had an inside pocket.

Boy, I wanted to keep this. It's beautiful. Unfortunately, it's kind of stiff and bulky due to the plastic-like layer inside it that makes it windproof. I will stick with my usual strategy of a soft and cozy fleece with a windbreaker. Also, the arms were very slim and the bottom was pretty slim. With an hour glass figure, I found it tight on my hips. My arms are slender and it looked sensational...but I am not going to just stand in front of a camera in it, wearing only a tank under it. I would hike or be active in it, and would probably want it over a long sleeved fall top or sweater. So I sadly will send it back.

We ordered two of these - a black one in Women's size XL for me and a blue one in Men's size XL for my husband. Both my husband and I are very happy with our new jackets. We live in the Pacific Northwest and practically live in our Columbia fleece zipped jackets that are a somewhat similar but much more basic and plain style, but when I saw these on L.L. Bean I really liked the grid texture and I loved the extra pocket on the front (the more pockets the better!) so I thought I'd give these a try. They are wonderful jackets! More substantial feeling than the Columbia ones that have been our "go-to's" for years and years. These L.L. Bean ones are soft and comfortable and they also have a bit of weight to them but not overly so, just enough weight to feel substantial but not weighted-down or heavy. The zippers seem very good quality. I have washed them (cold water using only a Grab Green powdered laundry detergent pod - no fabric softener as care instructions say to do) and dried them on a low heat cycle with just a wool dryer balls (no dryer sheets or anything else) and they did not shrink and came out looking and feeling still brand new. I usually like my jackets and coats a bit bigger to allow for layering so XL is the size I usually order, but for the most part I could have bought a size L and it would have been fine I think, as this XL is very roomy all over in the body area.... But sadly there is one issue: the arms and armholes (where the sleeves attach to the body). They are fine, and we are keeping these jackets because we can wear them, but the arms are not as roomy as we like and what we experience with our Columbia fleece jackets. I have to say if we could put the arms from our Columbia jackets onto the body of this L.L. Bean jacket we would have THE perfect 5-star fleece jacket! The arms are OK, they fit and I can raise my arms and move around just fine, but they are just a bit more snug than we like and also I prefer the cuffs at the end of the sleeves to either have some sort of soft elastic or adjustable option like our Columbia fleece jackets do. Also I'm not sure what it is called, but the area or seam that goes from the body of the jacket to the sleeve of the jacket - the arm holes? Near your shoulder and underarm area? - is too snug. It's doable, we can wear them, but not as happily as we wear our Columbia fleece jacket due to not having enough room in that area. The sleeves and armholes need to be a bit longer and bigger. There's room for layering one thin'ish or maybe if you are lucky medium-weight type of layer underneath the jacket but because of that one too snug area there would be no way to layer more than that. With our Columbia jackets, we have ample room in that underarms area as well as the sleeves and we really like that. Also, when things are too snug in the underarm area - as this jacket is - and you are out and about hiking and exploring, it isn't as comfortable because your underarms really do need some space to breathe and air out a bit, especially with layering, so I am saddened about that. Otherwise, though, the jacket is perfect and we do really like them a lot. The blue color is especially beautiful and I also like how the logo on my black one is greyed-out so that you don't have a colorful logo that clashes with the black jacket. The body of the jacket is very roomy and also a bit long (which I really like) and the pockets are substantial and the collar is soft and folds down easily or stands up, either way, and just everything but the arm holes and sleeves are perfect about this jacket! I would suggest buying this jacket if you are unsure, just give it a try - maybe your arms are shorter than ours and you will find it more roomy in the arm area and if that is the case it will be totally perfect for you! :)

I think this is a great windproof fleece. I was actually surprised when I tried it out and it was really 100% windproof. I'm often out snowshoeing in 30-40 degree weather and it is windy (20+ mph). With a wool base layer, I am able to stay warm. I would like to see this in more color options and I feel the fit is a little large. Per the size chart, a small should have fit perfectly. It is a little roomy throughout and the hips are pretty big. It is big enough to get a warm sweater on underneath, so it works good for me.

Great overall, just what i wanted warm, windproof, streamlined jacket. I got the cream colored one.
It gets a 4* because my shirt sleeves get caught in the jacket and pulling them out is a nuisance. I do not have big arms. This jacket would be 5* if sleeves had an inch more of ease for me and maybe a smooth lining. My favorite well-worn fleece jacket (not Bean) has slippery lined sleeves, and only the sleeves are lined.

This windproof fleece jacket is a good idea. However, it is more fitted than most LL Bean jackets. I did read that this jacket is best worn with a light layer but at the time I didn't understand what that meant. I was unable to wear it with my midweight flannel shirt because the sleeves were too snug. I think this jacket would be good with a long sleeve tee shirt or possibly a lightweight sweater. Make sure to look at the picture. If you want a winter coat with room for layers under it this may not be the jacket for you. I hope they make a roomier version with lighter colors. I will be returning this jacket for one of LL Bean's roomier jackets that will comfortably accommodate a sweater or flannel shirt under it.

It's my go to jacket now because I live in a cool and windy place. It does block the wind. The material of the jacket is not as soft and light as it appeared in the photo, I am a bit disappointed but okay with that. It would be nice if this jacket has a hood.
